Thinking about tips for Thursday

Post by CathyS »

What is the best tip you have for dealing with your home or garden today?
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I've been struggling lately and I KNOW that it's because I fell off the "routine" of writing my mini lists to prompt me for dishes, laundry and litter box cleaning. I know how fast and easy it can be to stay on top of getting clean laundry put away, but I put it on the dryer door and leave it for 2 or more days now.

Maybe dh and I have just fallen into a routine of "it'll get done later".

Today I had no choice, because it's "all" garbage day. Compost bin and recycling are at the end of the driveway along with one bag of garbage. Second bag is waiting for the small bag from the kitchen.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

I need to get busy here, dcleaning lady will be here in a little more than an hour. I think dh will be home today? His office is closed for Juneteenth and I think markets are closed. No mail here also.

The meeting yesterday with the Medicare guy was too long and I didn't feel it was very efficient. Dh and I met together with the guy on Zoom and at the end ch would barely let me get in a question, but i made it. And I'm annoyed that I need to meet yet again regarding a prescription drug plan. They were doing the application on the screen with lots of going up and down the page to add what was missed and it took a long time that way. The app didn't prefill with things like addresses and phone numbers so seemed unnecessarily cumbersome. Dh commented that the guy advising us is a friend, and we probably would have moved on from him except that he's a friend. Anyway, another meeting tomorrow.

I have my workout this afternoon and we'll probably eat out this evening.

good morning d cathy!
I agree, being off the routine can make the day harder! I have had to - or maybe it's more of I "want" to do it later and it is messing me up. good idea o n having a mini prompt card to help you move forward! great idea.

hello everyone!

and D cathy thank you for starting us today!!!

the garden is over flowing with weeds as I started so late in attending my garden and I am trying the 15 minutes round robin - My garden, for many years, kept up with the weeds bc of my daily routine (Sundays off) and I need to get back into the swing of it.

hi d twins! enjoy having your cleaning angel at your home!!!

the medicare set up is a lot - my brother helps many people with their medicare set up. Mine, he said, was the hardest bc it got lost in their system and everyone said that it would be another 8 weeks and then another - the kept pushing it to another and another - we finally got one man who said that it should not have been this hard. He took the time to look into it and one half hour later he fixed it for us.

I wish everyone an absolutely wonderful day!!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Happy Juneteenth in the US.

Dd26 and ddolder both have the day off. There are lots of tours and festivals here and it's a beautiful day for it. I know dd26 would like to go to a Juneteeth Art Festival this afternoon, but I don't know if she'll get the chance.

I'll be thinking about tips today. Working toward a schedule is a good one.

My tip for the day = "If you keep doing the same thing, you will likely keep getting the same results. To achieve different outcomes, it's often necessary to change your approach or actions."

I have been pushing through hip pain and trying to ignore it. That has not been helpful and made it worse. I have self diagnosed it as muscle pain and not coming from the joint. Stretching gives some relief but I might have stretched too much and made it worse. :x
So, I am going to try the opposite = I am limiting my movement for the next 4 days until my doctor appt on Monday. Will having 4 days of minimal movement help heal whatever is causing the pain? >>>shrugging shoulders<<<<< I won't know without trying.
I am not a good patient and don't like to be still, so minimum movement is going to try my patience to the max. Reminding myself.....if it fixes or improves the problem then it will be worth it.
My goal is to have less than 1000 steps a day for the next 4 days. Is that even possible? I have no clue

mom did a lot of walking today - her OT did something brilliant - 1. she took a table that she put up - about waist level - had mom stand with walker and start play war (cards) with her - mom forgot about the walker and stood up for at least 15 minutes without a thought. she can't necessarily get the card process but she had fun and didn't even know she was doing OT. 2. The OT had her walk to the sink and had her wash her hands and dry her hands. brilliant.

I ordered a couple of toddler puzzles - 3 piece puzzles, a baby stacking toy, and a toddler matching game for one/two year olds. I think she can do that now.

mom walked from bed this morning to the toilet and then to her wheel chair - she had pt on Tuesday that made her walk big steps and what a difference that made in mom's abilities.

does mom like me more now - nope -
