Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
A very good geography lesson, trissie
kittykatt, I remember how you would report Trifle did the best to attack the staff.
Bama, good luck on the paper dragon. Some day let's plan a contest to see how much we can get done!
L.ann, have fund with Little Bit. Pretty soon she will need a new name, as she's not so little anymore!
helian, I hope you get an answer for your foot. When you mention making exams, I am in awe of people who can do that. One of the reasons I did'nt become a teacher I guess.
Meeting with the "professional organizer" was insightful. She didn't do onything that I don't already do when I get time to work on something. I guess I know how to do it, just have to find - make - the time.
Mom was so confused this morning! She called my dsis2, 2,000 miles away and said, "I can't find Becky. I'm so confused!"
I asked the aides to REALLY focus on hydration today, to get her dressed in a new outfit that I hung up on her coat rack last night. To change her catheter, send a urine sample to the lab from the NEW catheter. And focus on letting mother what is happening and what is happening next. When I was leaving last night, she had forgotten that the dog had died, but earlier while I was there, she knew. Continually reminding her adds to her grief, but saying that yes, I have enough to feed her is easy, but gives conflicint information that would lead to confusion? waht to do....
I'm hopin g to stay home today, until evening when a gorup gathers to plan our 60 high school class reunion. It doesn't seem like 10 years could have gone b y since 50!
I have 1 check to write today - for mother's care
2 letters to write to look for one classmate
kitchen counter to clear off SO THAT I CAN
empty my tall but narrow "pantry closet" that has become a catch all and needs to be organized so I haven a place to put things
AND
DS said he and dgs are coming to get landscape edging from my yard for theirs, as my landscape guy is going to do something different.
They will also get the maple forest that is budding in my rain gutters
And my AC will work more efficiently if I cut back some weeds around it so it can breathe. We are expecting a very hot and humid spell
Which reminds me that I have dehumidifier at mother's house to empty as well.
With that kind of list, I better get moving!
First get my work uniform on - blue jeans and tee shirt!

Bama, the "little details" are things like guest list, party menu, shopping list etc, so... I can't really avoid that! Especially since everything needs to be done tomorrow early in the day, as we have another party to attend in the evening. I really do wish for a wife!
gma, I guess us SHEs, we do know what to do, it's just getting around to do it that's tough! Hoping the extra hydration will help your mom!

Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
I'll join you working on papers, Bama. My good friend B said once, "I need a wife. "
I totally got it! I didn't know there were shows about feet.
trissie, your comment to gma accurately describes me: I know what to do - or where to start; I just spend a lot of time talking about it instead of doing it.
--Should I ask if dh throws you a birthday party?
Gma, I never told my mom that her brother passed away. I wasn't sure if it would truly sink in, and I didn't want grief to impinge on her health. She has gone back and forth over the last 3 years understanding that her own husband has passed away. Does your mom have a permanent catheter? The caretakers at my mom's NH have orders to offer Mom a lot of liquids, but I'm not sure how much they do. Whenever I'm there, she drinks a fair bit - up to 20 ounces.
L Ann, good luck with the packing list and packing.
Well, the Dr. says it's not fungus. She thinks I have a bunion on that toe (I was suspecting that too) and the structure of my foot might be shifting
my shoes might now fit in a way that's not helpful. I don't know. . . but she gave me a referral to a podiatrist which will be my next step. Running can exacerbate all this.
I've had this Dr. for years; she's probably 10 years older than I am. She is smart and a straight shooter. She told me today that I'm boring.
(She also said she'd only said that to me bc I'm a long time patient of hers.) There's nothing interesting to a doctor about my health. She said my jogging was more interesting to her than my toe. I guess I'll take "boring" as a compliment.
Main Goals for Today
1. 8-9 Work out with trainer
2. 9:40 Dr. appointment
3. WF for odds and ends
4. Progress on Exam Prep - finish, ideally
5. Walk?
6. Progress on the desk
7. Early dinner out with AC
Next:
- some qt

TaDas!
- up; weighed self
- s2s and self care
- dw unloaded
- coffee + water bottle set up

Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
(((Gma))), we had to deal with how much to reveal to dh’s dmom when she would ask for her youngest son, he was special needs so she cared for him his entire life up into his 40s and he passed the summer before she did, she had dementia and would ask for him. So hard. The “experts” always said go along with her and not let her know he was gone so we would say he’s out with his dad, who had passed but she would talk to… not the same as your mom who still understands but my experience. You are handling it the best you can and that’s what matters.
I’m always up for a declutter challenge.
Haha trissie, leaving off the guest list would definitely void everything else but I suppose that can’t be avoided.
Helia, glad you’re getting a dx. Fungus can be hard to get rid of so glad it’s not that. Have you been to a running store where they fit you based on how you walk/run? Our school used to have a running club and the coach loved Brooks running shoes. Of course, podiatrist recommendations first. Our nh avoided giving beverages as it led to more clothing changes. Post large signs in her room as a reminder of any requests you have for staff, it makes it easier for them to remember.
To Do:
Laundry - wash one, dry one, put one away
Tadas:
Coffee
Food
Planner
Emails
Bagged up recyclables
Fed outside cat Lola
Feed pets
Spot clean floors
Wipe down kitchen
Bible
Dressed
Call from dh

Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Laundry was a bust. For some reason the dryer doesn’t always fully dry clothes. I thought it was just because of a heavy blanket but this load is my clothes, not a very large load, so running it again. I had one white button down shirt in the washer and for some reason (cheap quality I think) the front had rips in it so tossed it. Hate it bc it was a comfy easy choice to wear. Moving on.
To Do:
:20 in kitchen
Tadas:
Coffee
Food
Planner
Emails
Bagged up recyclables
Fed outside cat Lola
Feed inside pets
Spot clean floors
Wipe down kitchen
Bible
Dressed
Call from dh
Run dryer again, clothes not dry

Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Bama, yes, definitely, I've always had my feet measured and shoes picked out for me at running stores. Actually, this pair that I bought last summer (probably time for a new pair) was just the same model of the previous pair that the running store staff recommended -- but I bought it on my own. I used to wear Brooks. Then, at some point, the Brooks didn't fit well, and the running staff recommended Saucony. I will probably bring my running shoes to the podiatrist when I go. That's a great suggestion re: signs in Mom's room. I'm thinking of getting a white board and posting it somewhere in her room -- or on her door. We can communicate that way. Old school - but maybe faster and easier for busy staff. --Oh, sorry about the blouse. And the wonky dryer.
I've cleaned up the kitchen again, deboned the chicken and put the leftover meat in the freezer. Now, it's time for a qt and then payroll work.

WTG on your tadas, Gma! I love rice pudding! I have some pre-made ones at the NH for my mom, who also likes it.

Re: Tisza River Thursday @ TDD - C&C
Gma, planning a reunion sounds like good mental stimulation of a different sort. Tree-less gutters are a good thing.
Helia, I’ve seen a lot of runners in saucony as well. I’m more of a walker but I do love some cushy sneakers. I’ve never been a sandal wearer, I don’t like to see toes lol.
Someone on staff recommended the signs and it does help. A woman I follow has them all over her mom’s room. She also puts her mom’s name in large letters across every shirt and down the leg of every pair of pants as well as shoes. It makes things easier on everyone.
LAnn, doing great!
