You're making great progress, Trissie, and you've also reminded me I need to post a list!

I think the biggest problem with the old system of money in the very old days was that people would clip bits off the edges of the coins, especially the silver coins, and then make their own coins - an early system of counterfeiting! The first clip probably wasn't too bad, but over time you ended up with much smaller coins of very strange shapes, and even with the pennies, it got to the stage where it was very rare for a pound's worth of pennies to actually weigh a pound. I think this was probably one of the reasons for the formation of the royal Mint - to regularise things !!

I've done some deadheading, but it's getting hot so I've retreated back indoors. But this has meant I've been able to have some very productive discussions with DH about his VR /retirement, and his plans. We've also discussed replacing in the fridge, which is definitely on its last legs. I think it's nearly 30 years old, so I can't really complain. DH wants a larger fridge this time, so it obviously won't fit under the counter. But maybe the bins could go there instead? I have said that ideally I want Matilda's bet bill to have been settled by Petplan ( or at the very least we've had their written agreement that they'll pay) before we make any more large purchases.

I've also added "put the hose on the front garden" to the list of things to do this evening. For now though, I need to hoover the sitting room, and try and at least get Matilda's paperwork into some kind of order.

DH has left to play with his DFs. Matilda and Jude have taken themselves upstairs, so that just leaves Freddie asleep on the sitting room carpet. I think it's time I got out on of this chair!!

I spoke too soon! Jude has just come running down the stairs in search of a lap. I may now be here for some time, but it's in a good cause! :lol:πŸˆβ€β¬›

This is encouraging! Historically speaking, perhaps the US is not the only country with crazy measuring systems?! That's some comfort!

Thank you for the encouragement about the podiatrist, Kitty. Dh has seen one too and that was very helpful. He got his Morton's neuroma cleared up - after a recommended surgery.
Yes, I asked about the parties, trissie. Gma's point is a great one! I feel my daughters make a bigger deal of celebrating my birthdays than dh does. Dh is just too darn busy.

I'm up late, just feeling kind of. . . not into my life today. My weight is up a tad -- after several days of tracking, keeping to WW points, and exercising. That's discouraging. We're approaching the weekend and I'm not sure how to navigate time with the Ys, more restaurant food, and prepping for travel. I don't think they'll want to spend every minute with us - but I don't want to offend them. Also, I do want some one-on-one time with KY. Dh is still stressed and super busy; last night, he had dinner with dd27 (nice!) but then had some evening meetings which he finished at 9:30 pm, and then he had work emails to catch up on. . . . AND the weather forecast for the camping trip is now for thunderstorms and rain every day. . .β˜”οΈ I'm considering getting a hotel room near the state park.

However, today - the sun is shining! And the forecast high is 86*F (30C). We are forecast to reach the 90s here each day Saturday - Tuesday. 97*F (36C) on Monday. That's very hot for us. But we'll be in the Chicago area by then where the forecast highs will be. . . 97*F for several days in a row. I'll be bringing some shorts.

I have a haircut appointment in another town at 11. I need to be otd in about 45 minutes. I'll visit Mom en route home and then stop by WF to return an A order and get eggs, which I forgot to get earlier. I hope to be home around 1:30. Then, lunch, finish the a.m. routine, and finish the last reading exam for payroll. A walk would be good; I won't jog as I'm planning on the 5K tomorrow morning. We're eating at home tonight - teriyaki salmon, rice, and roasted zucchini. If I can start on pre-travel laundry, I will.

Main Goals for Today
1. Haircut appt. (in town 30 minute drive away)
2. Visit Mom
3. WF - drop off return + get odds and ends

- run dw; unload later
- make bed
- WALK
- payroll: finish IR Exam and send it off for review

We should call this the "Amazing Learning Place". The information posted here is incredible!

Thanks for the start trissie and a good afternoon to everyone.
I had an eventful morning: we found a bat ... in all places, in the kitchen sink... With shaky hands I trapped it, called the right people... It was picked up within two hours and will be tested for rabies... I try not to overthink it...

Now, I need to get moving.
Let me put the main floor in order.

1. find my meds
2.:15 PUPAs main
3. adv lol/start lol

repeat PUPAs until done.
Take pup for walk.
empty car for carwash

KittyKatt, thank you for the excellent litany/recall of pre-decimal British coinage. I hope you don't mind that I copied it and sent it to my ddolder. She is an avid reader of fiction (and viewer of mysteries, etc.) that often includes the words.
