Monday, almost the midpoint of 2025

Post by Twins' Mom »

Next Monday marks the end of the first six months of the year - what's working this year? What's not working? Do you have goals, a bucket list, for the year that uncompleted? This is a good week to spend some time planning and assessing where we are.

Good morning

Twins - Thank you for the start today and the reminder to take a step back and look at our longer-term plans and actions. I did spend some time this morning tweaking my digital SHE cards by adding one time use cards. After they are finished then the one time use cards will collect together in a way that I can easily see monthly and yearly unique accomplishments.

We have a busier than normal day today. 3 medical appts and a trip to the hardware store.

One of the things that have fallen through the cracks is getting my eyes checked. If my records are correct, it has been over 6 years since my last eye check. In the past 6 years I made sure the teens, DMom, and DH got their eyes checked regularly but for whatever reason (??) I haven't been getting my eyes checked. ANYway - that will happen this morning and I have a new yearly SHE card to remind me next year to get it done. I will have to hang out after my eye appt this morning and let time pass so I can drive after having my eye dilated. I am leaving DH at home with DD14 and hope everything works out okay.

I was up early to say goodbye to dh, was going to get up with the alarm at 7:15 but kept snoozing it until nearly 8:15. Slow start is usual on Monday, I think. Heat today is wicked, high of 95 although we'll have some cloud cover. Already walked ddog,

Yesterday I was a pain a the annual meeting - some accounting things I don't agree with or understand, and I made a stink about including 40K income that shouldn't be there. I think financial statments will need to be changed. Several people thanked me for asking the hard questions because they don't have the financial literacy to do so, but I felt like a pain. I'm going to follow up with an email later if I can get through it.

After the meeting we went to have drinks with friends who live downtown - he's a board member and said there was more and better discussion of financial info today at the annual meeting then there had been at board meetings. They are newer friends, have a second place in Crystal River FL so we may visit them there later in the summer.

Last night got to text a bunch with a first cousin once removed - his father and my father were cousins. Caught up with him and family history. He's of my father's paternal line back to Richard in Virginia born around 1726.

Anyway, today I only have my workout out of the house. I should drop off the check for the guy who cleans the cabana, meant to do on Friday and haven't done.

The job I want to do while dh is away is to empty a bookcase in my office room, and move it to flank the daybed. The bookcase was built without a back and we need to add a back for it. Then it will be useful as a surface to sit 3 boxes of created cards on top, and will act as a side for the daybed, which is open. The other side of the daybed faces a wall so pillows, etc. can be leaned on it. I have to move the treadmill, which is on wheels. I think it's time to let it go. The contents of the bookcase currently are photos and scrapbooks. Some photos are in boxes pretty haphazardly, but I have room to move them into another area. Hopefully I'll do some purging/straightening up as I go. I have a second bookcase filled with photos, scrapbooks as well. The other bookcase of those three is for stamping. (For the record, my genealogy desk is a craft style open desk at a counter height. Two sides are bookcases for genealogy, and there's two other bookcases in the room for genealogy. I need to purge periodicals. And on the floor there are stacks of papers and periodicals that need to put away, purged, filed, etc.

hello -
dd younger helped me and we gave mom a shower bath. She was very confused this morning and not sure why she is here.
it took two of us to get her up. Rough morning for mom. -
meds given
breakfast given
I figure anger is based on fear. (fear of not being able to do things herself and not know where she is)
I was up at 5:30 am and mom was awake - spoke to her for a bit and she fell asleep on and off - that brings confusion - we finally got her out of bed at 8;30 (it took a long time to get her up - she was not in the mood.)

watered inside garden and I am now watering front - they say it will be 95 and feel like 110 but we shall see.
dd younger is going to wash down mom's room
dh washed dishes
dd younger washed mom's bedding bc it got wet.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Went to Monday morning fibre group. Dh popped in to say hi and to ask me where to find the "seed library" which is on a table near the front door. He got more radish seeds.

The other woman at the Monday afternoon group won't be there today or next week, so I am staying home this afternoon.

Dh has all the a/c on thankfully. It's around 100F outside here today. Not a temperature we enjoy.

I received good news at eye doctor. Everything looked good and no glasses required. I have 20/25 vision without glasses so I turned down their offer to add glasses to bring my vision to 20/20. I found it interesting they didn't dilate my eyes and asked why. They used a machine to take pictures of the inside/back of my eyeballs instead of dilatation. I love technology!

A stop at the local grocery store let me know that I can't walk pain free. I am a teeny-tiny bit frustrated that my four days of focus and effort didn't solve my hip pain. I have an appt with family doc this afternoon to get it checked out. DH also has a doctor appt at the same time/place about his urinary issues.

Last week I ordered a replacement window unit for DS16 bedroom and it was just delivered. Also 2 cases of tea were just delivered. I sometime think about previous generations who didn't have the ability to shop online and have things delivered to the door. I feel very blessed to have these options.

I"m not keeping up with enough food prepared for the family so will need to go to Plan B........as soon as I decide what Plan B will be.

I had forgotten the big thing I needed to do today - to call and enroll in a prescription drug plan. Definitely a DPC, took 49 minutes and now I'm needing to get ready to go workout. I had only eaten some grilled lean chicken earlier so I'm having a bowl of fruit and greek yogurt and hoping it holds me. It's "feels like" 98 - that's actually dropped slightly as some clouds have moved in.

Dh took steak out of the freezer to grill yesterday and by the time we got home we didn't want a heavy dinner. It may be too hot for me to grill this evening.
