dd is taking a break from cleaning and is laying in the shade in the hammock. great choice - she left the dogs inside as it is too hot.
she washed the sheets and I put them back on mom's bed - everything smells so nice again. (she is singing Alsatian songs as she is starting to fall asleep) these are the moments I cherish.
she was with it again and pleasant and not angry any more.

I almost finished watering but it can wait until dd Is done taking her break.

I had bought a bunch of different toddler activities - mom has been doing one per day - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005RF5G?re ... title&th=1 she loves this.
she also went over the days and months of the year in French. (she is "teaching" me) - even with one eye closed bc she was starting to fall asleep - she asked me to repeat my days of the week. :D

time for lunch and then work again.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Lots of grands with different directions to travel today. We'll get ddolder's youngest to Karate this afternoon. DangerBoy has been at jury duty (adulting! civic responsibility!) all day. WonderBoy, who's had his provisional driver's license for only a matter of days, is driving (!) a friend who happens to be a girl to a library event because her mother had a dr's appt come up. He can do it because it's all daylight driving, but he must not use his phone even for directions. Ddolder is able to pick the youngest up after Karate unless the courthouse dismissal/parking lot is a big hassle, and in that case, we'll bring youngest home, too.

I want to get a get-well card out to my dcousin who fell. Hopefully can put that in the box on the way out.

Great news about your eye exam, LadyM. At least you had a few days relief from hip pain - it may have been beneficial. I will say that grocery stores are awful about any kind of walking pain.

Yes, we're blessed to have online purchasing as an alternative. I don't know what we'd have done without it during these times of my being compromised and needing to stay away from public spaces. Sure do wish others who shop, however, would care more about the perishables, etc.

Our eye exams are scheduled but we have to wait until early August. I don't think we've ever had to wait that long before. I suppose it's because we wanted appts close to the same time.

Cathy, wow, 100 degrees. We are still in 80s for highs, I think, unless we've hit 90 just recently.

Thinking of blessed's dd in the hammock, her dmother teaching French inside. :)

What sweet moments with your mother, bw2. You are quite patient whether you realize it or not. I'm glad dd is getting some down time too.

Hot hot hot here, 94 "feels like" 101. I backed my car into the parking space at my workout so the seat and steering wheel wasn't in the sun. I know it's not like LadyM has but it's warm for me. DDog went out for a few minutes, she'll want back in soon. I'm adding a little Gatorade to my water today.

Workout was great as usual.

LadyM, I assume you haven't been wearing glasses? I've worn them since I was 17 I think. Dh only needs reading glasses but he usually forgets them anyway.

I'm going to try to put off walking the dog awhile. I'm heading upstairs.

Hello to everyone!
It is hard for me to think ahead for the year... I'm still at that point that I can't really imagine future plans, goals, and when I do think of the future it makes me nervous and/or depressed, so I'm still in a kind of limbo. DH did all our planning, you know, and I don't really want to travel or anything without him.
OTOH, I do have some goals for the year in my planner, and i've made some progress, with the repairs to the ceiling and the bathroom floor. Also, these trees DS set out for me. Next on the list will be the crawl space and MAYBE painting my patio furniture and freshening up the porch rockers and swing.

Today, however, I am still managing to keep up with some productive activity.
s2s as soon as DGS said he was hungry... took him to McD's -- this child ate THREE BIG MACS.
Went to the bank... (no, not to take a loan to keep him fed, but it may come to that, LOL)
Went to the post office...
Home -- did Bible reading, started a load of laundry, and began WHB dusting in the kitchen, which is also part of my zone for the week. I am following no real schedule for the zones right now. Since we are going to celebrate dgs' birthday here next Monday, I am focusing on the kitchen and dining room this week. Usually, those are the only rooms in use at birthday parties.
I dusted the cabinets with a Swiffer and then concentrated on decluttering some items on the counter top, If I do say so myself, it looks better. I also found several phone chargers that I had forgotten about, so that's a big plus.

Taking a break now.
Tomorrow is another day.

LadyM, I assume you haven't been wearing glasses?
I wore glasses for 3 decades until I had cataract surgery in my 40's. That surgery also included getting lens implants so no glasses for the past 30 years or so.

DH and my visit with family doctor lasted over an hour today. I knew the 3 of us talked for quite a while but I didn't realize it was that long until we were walking out the door. DH and I both now have a mixture of several tests, prescriptions and PT scheduled. For my hip pain the doc is doing Xray with plans for MRI if it doesn't show anything. He is also sending me to Physical therapy. He was impressed with my flexibility when I showed him how I can activate the pain by standing on one foot with other foot touching hip and bending forward.

When we arrived home I implemented Plan B for something to eat. Red beans & rice from Zatarins box. hamburger meat cooked and added. French fries cooked in the air fryer. Salad made. Not a great meal but it is here and hot. The teens will probably pass on it and choose to eat corn dogs or chicken sandwiches from the freezer.

A VDFriend dropped by for a visit. We offered to feed him but he declined because he had just eaten. DH and VDFriend are still talking in the living room.

DS16 has 2 friends here working with him in the shop. It is a very rare day that GF is not here. DS16 and DH were going to replace the a/c in DS16 bedroom. it did not go as planned. End result is DS16 bedroom has no a/c (in 100F outside temp) and the wall and window will need to be replaced. This means that DS16 will temporarily sleep in his old bedroom.....which also means DS16 and I will be sharing a bathroom. Eeeweeeee!

Progress being made.

I had to put the window/wall/ac disaster into a mental compartment and forgot about it while I was dealing with medical appointments today.

Now that the medical appts are over, it is time to take a deep breathe and see how we can rectify this suprise project.

I have reached out to 2 people about doing the repairs and am now waiting to hear back from them. I suspect this simple little project to replace the window a/c unit might turn into replacing the entire north wall (inside & outside) of our home. I am trying to think long term.....if we tear off the end of our home what changes would be good to happen. I am thinking about moving a fence and building a double carport on that wall and extend the roof to add two porches on each side. I tend to overthink and analyze each detail instead of quick decisions. This could turn into a bigger project than I have time to overthink about. hum... Quick decisions aren't always bad. I'll see what the constractors have to say before I get too far into thinking about this suprise project.

All the transporting worked out fine today.

HRH did a quick in and out at a grocery, picking up about ten items. He forgot the lettuce, which was the only thing I'd asked for.

Ds called and we chatted a while.

He and I had heard completely different forecasts. He hears that it's going to get much hotter than I heard. Possibly 100 on Wednesday, when I'd just heard less. We'll see. Doesn't sound comfortable, anyway.

Wow, LadyM. A lot to think about for your house. Thanks for the good report on eye operation. I appreciate knowing it can sometimes go so well.

I'm so glad all the travel worked out for everyone, Harriet! Kinda LOL at HRH forgetting the one thing you asked for. That sounds like something I would do.
DS and I were talking about the lack of in-person buying today while we ate our supper. The mall parking lot probably had a dozen cars in it at 6:30 at night. There were several in front of the Ch*ckie Ch**se entrance, and TWO in front of B*lk. And I'm just as guilty as anyone else about buying online, but it's kinda sad. We can't complain about businesses closing if we never patronize them, can we? This led to talking about our local little Tiny Town, where at one time there were at least 7 clothing stores, three furniture stores, three pharmacists, two dry cleaners, and at least four restaurants right on the square. Wmart kinda killed all that, along with chain restaurants and now we are down to two restaurants (one which only serves the slug-burger type hamburgers), one clothing store, no furniture stores, and no pharmacies or dry cleaners.

LadyM -- wow -- that's a lot, after thinking you were just going to get a new ac window unit! Maybe the contractor will give you some good advice re: how much to do in the renovations.
I think your supper sounds perfectly fine. I may do that this weekend with dgrands. I'll have them both Friday and Saturday nights. And I still have an awful lot of that 1/4 steer I won last fall! I bet I never register for something I don't want to win. OTOH, with prices like they are, it is kinda sinful for me to look this gift cow in the mouth, isn't it? AND it's kinda sinful for me to take the dgrands to McD's with all this beef in the freezer! Sigh.
My dmom had cataract surgery a few years ago and got the lenses put in also. She still wears reading glasses, but I think she is still doing okay without glasses for driving/etc.
I am also AMAZED that your doctor spent an HOUR with you and LordM! That is absolutely unheard of around here. Dmom gets so upset with our family doctor because he is in and out in 15 minutes and she feels like she never has enough time with him to really listen to her. Same with her orthopedic doctors too.

Good for you, getting in some exercise, blessed! And I'm glad it seems like you are getting more support from your dbro now.
Did the agency caregiver come by today to talk with you?
That is such a calm, peaceful picture in my mind, DD in the hammock.

WTG, Nancy! You've had a very productive day!

Twins, it is hot here too! I don't think we've hit a feels like 100 yet, but it is likely by the end of the week.
I called to renew some rx's from my dermatologist today too! Now I have to remember to go pick it up!

I gave out on laundry and cleaning, but I'll be home alone tomorrow, so maybe I'll catch up then. The kitchen does look a lot better, IMHO.
DGS was uncharacteristically quiet this afternoon, and he and I both just vegged out in front of the tv this afternoon -- he was watching youtube videos, someone trying to prank the scammers on the phone. I fell asleep. DS called to see if he and dgd could join us for supper. He said ddil had a late lunch and just wanted to go to bed early, since she is going to work at 5:00 a.m. tomorrow.
Well, of course that was fine with me, and ds said he would call back when DGD got home from the pool -- she had been invited to go swimming with two friends from church and their grandmother. I napped awhile longer until DS called back.

SInce they wanted to eat in Next Town, we stopped at dmom's house, and DS replaced four lightbulbs and installed her new 10" tv in her kitchen. Remote control isn't working, but she said this had been a problem when she replaced the larger tv in the den. She's going to call her cable company about this.
It is so depressing for me to see my dmom... she is barely able to stand up straight because her back pain is giving her so much trouble, she can't really use her right arm because of the shoulder pain, and of course the bunion pain is a constant presence also. I just can't help but worry about her. Every move she makes is accompanied with a sort of "mmmph" groan. She was glad to see DS and dgrands, though, and she was VERY glad to have light in her office again! She still needs one light replaced -- DS didn't hear her say she needed one for the center light fixture.

But after we left there, we went on to Ch*ck F*l A and enjoyed our supper very much.

I've just been scrolling on the phone and watching TV since I got back home. I guess it's good for me to have some time alone. Even if I do shed a few tears.
Tomorrow is another day.
