Hi, L.Ann. Your evening routine is going well.

Thursday
Cleaned up after dog
Made coffee
Prepped granny cart for trip to vet: Removed extra shopping bags, put in canned dog food to return, purse, clean up supplies
Cleaned out cans and put them in recycling
Found the big cutlery basket
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Put the rice cooker liner in to soak
Cleaned out cans and put them in recycling
Filled dw to run later
FACE’d finances: there is a deposit in my account that is less than the pension amount in the letter.
Fixed my login for one part of the govt web site
Updated login info in password keeper
Put on pasta for lunch
Washed more dishes
Checked if farm stall is open–it is, opened today! Maybe after Germane’s appointment I could go? It will mean sitting in rush hour traffic. And there’s still the laundry to do. But, on the other hand, fresh local vegetables. Isn’t that what we waited all winter for?
Showered/washed hair
Walked Germane to the animal hospital. Things are looking good. We are going to start her eye drops again, start her on Apoquel again, and restrict her exercise.
Swapped out the case of HP food that she won’t eat for the food that she likes.
Walked home. Ran out of steam at the old people’s bench, so we sat and enjoyed the summer air for a while. Walked the rest of the way home.
Checked mail.
Found Germane’s eye drops.
Called the animal hospital to tell them that I don’t need the new prescription.
Checked laundry: loaded $ to it
Gathered dirty laundry
Brought Germane down to basement to transfer money to laundry card
Started 2 loads of laundry
It took me so long that I am back to running out of time in the dryer before they lock the laundry room

doggedly, how old is Germane? I think at some time you said she was a rescue? I have 2 neighbors who have "rescue" dogs. Those dogs are loved dearly, and happy to have kind forever homes.

My mother is (I think) way overtired from our full day. I also was very disappointed and distressed with the care today. I had left at 1030 last evening,, and returned at 11 this morning. I don't usually come in the morning. When I arrived the cups we had our coffee in the night before were in exactly the same places I had left them, and there was NO evidence of any breakfast having been brought to her, NO evidence of any beverage - no coffee, no hot chocolate, no orange juice, nothing! And she said no one had brought her anything. This is a lady who is supposed to have plenty of fluids to keep her catheter and kidneys working well! Not a good start to the day. I am going to send an email to the administration.....
Aftre Dr visit, we tried to go see the bison, but with the heavy rain we have ahd, the gravel road was closed. But we had a very nice ride. Drove to a litte rural community where there is a very small church where my father used to preach and serve as lay pastor in addition to his full time work as a professor. Mother enjoyed the ride and stopping at the church. She told me to take a picture so we could show Daddy. Later, we went to Culver's (fast food) and ordered shrimp, steamed broccoli, and she had a large root beer. We'll go to the state park where the bison are another time. I have a sticker for a year's entry pass. There is a lovely 2 tiered waterfall in another area of the park. Fun for a walk of a picnic.
Took her back to the NH for bingo and things fell apart - she said she didn't do well at bingo, didn't win anything. Then she started having a fit that she wants to be at her house, in her own bed, and I'm so selfish that I won't take her home and let her sleep there, not even for one night.
She's been on the phone for over an hour - talked some, and for the last hour she just hasn't hung up and I've had it on speaker. Several staff have come in to her room. The interaction ahs been pleasant with them. So I'm guessing that she was lonely, sitting in her room and now that staff have been in, and helped find her little stuffed dog, she may settle down and go to sleep. The issue of wanting to go to her house will not go away, but it is also soemthing that I cannot manage.

Oh, Gma, that is very worrying about your dmother. She is lucky to have you looking out for her.
Germane is about 17 years old. Still enjoying her life, if a little more slowly.

Germane is a very precious pet, and you are a very good dog-mommy. (I remember my Dragon, who loved to go for walks, but at age 16, with heart failure, could only make it to the end of the driveway and back. So I put his leash on, did that short walk with him, and he was happy. )
