Finishing First Half of 2025 PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

Where are we folks? Half way through 2025 - as expected, exceeds expectations, or not where we thought we'd be? Always unplanned, unanticipated issues that affect out outlook, our mood, our health.

I started to start today with "Retirement Day" but that's just me. It's going to be a second half of the year filled adjustments for me.

Morning all. Half way. How? Time flies too fast. I am late today. Slept in a bit and feel off whack cause I was dreaming again after I should have been awake. About mom and the troubles.

Kittykat has some wonders advice again. I'm in a similar boat except mom still has dad as a primary caregiver. Ds and ddil did make it last night. We ended up talking about grandma again. Wandering outside more and getting herself in trouble. Not staying in bed when dad thinks she's there. Goodness I do not think this is sustainable. Door alarms? Baby monitor the like?

I too could not go live there. The kids are almost living there but there is one stipulation that I will make. Ddil doesn't mind watching mom sometimes. No quick texts saying can you watch I'm going. She might not be home? She wasn't one day last week. She needs more notice and can say she has plans? It's just not safe anymore.

I better get up and get dressed. Being super lazy today. And I have to be early it's a really weird week. Monday early freight truck. Tuesday is Canada day. The store is open on weekend staff so not much freight is going to get done tomorrow. I get Tuesday and Wednesday off then work Thursday Friday.

I have been up a couple hrs. it's 7 now.
Just got back from a walk.
Ddoggo found some thing and retrieved it today a fanny pack.
One piece of unopened mail.
I put a sticky note that is was found on a walk in the mail box.
Not sure what else to do with it.

Had fruit & grain bar for my bfast.
Did my planning not all of my journaling happened yet.
It's a nice morning and I know I need to walk early b/c of the 4th this week. X

Trash round up for trash day tomorrow is OMM.
Zone work is down to one stack of stuff on the bed to move then I can put some fabric & patter pieces out and use it for a work space.
Considering putting sewing mach. up in there. Hope there is room for the ironing board too. Not sure yet I will have to go dome measuring.
Been thinking about it for a while. The lite is better in that room I think.

lol, I panicked when I saw that 1/2 a year has already gone by!!! I used to start christmas work at this time of the year and now I am lucky enough to do some basics ;) I feel like I am just waking up to the fact that it is summer.

d twins - I think its great that you are already thinking of retirement planning.
hope you have a great day!

d lauralind - it's hard having dreams like that - it can zap the strength - asleep and awake dreams are deep and fast. hope you feel better as the day moves on!
re: getting out of bed - we have alarms when needed - bed alarm and a floor alarm for when mom is able to get out of bed on her own.
there are door alarms that you can also use for little ones.
have a wonderful time off of work this week!

we too have been thinking of what will happen as Time goes on - mom will have her own room/handicapped bathroom/porch - we will then hire a night time person. She will sell her apartment and her condo in Florida. She can afford it. My brother takes care of those things.

hi d Nancy - good morning - glad you had a nice walk!
nice breakfast!
yay on your planning - that's what I am doing now.
Glad you have a nice morning!

good morning everyone

I did not wake up to my alarm - I did but it the snooze button - got up at 6:15
dd younger had car pick her and her dog up for the airport
dh did dishes, I washed some areas
dh took out the garbage
(wow what a difference - his new trac gets him the oxygen he needs)

Caretaker is here - mom was not happy getting up and called me over and over - - I knew she was fine when getting up but I did come in when she was going to walk - I thought it was the helper calling me. She is not in the bad brain spot. She did apologize to the young woman for being grumpy at her - on her own!

time to clean up well so that I can be seen in public. 8-) When you are gorgeous - you're gorgeous! :D
time for my meds

yesterday evening the girls gave me the evening off -
I was hoping that we could get helpers for this weekend but that is not likely.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Lauralind… there are alarm pads to put on the floor so when someone gets out of bed it sets off alarm

If you are on Facebook there are many Alzheimer’s caregiver groups that you can join. Great advice and ideas are shared there.

I was up many times during the night while monitoring DS16 doing his first wheat planting. With the boss gone, DS16 contacted one of his friends who is very familiar with farming to ask some questions (friend is youngest member of multiple generation family farm) . His friend came and showed DS16 some of the tricks of the trade. His friend was cutting hay in a field a few miles away, so they stayed in contact with each one while operating tractors for many long hours yesterday & last night. Long story short....DS13 finished planting wheat in that field at 3am. He came home and slept a few hours and then was eager to be OTD to get started on the next farming project. DS16 is beyond happy about having this experience. He might never plant wheat again, but he will always carry the memories of doing it the first time.

LM happy to read your post so good to have some one close for so many reasons!

Goal prep. for moving sewing machine upstairs & iron & iron board before tomorrow if possible
or 90% of it. Cmas in July prep. is underway yea!

So I have been doing musical furniture;
Empty aka take drawers out of & move desk X  [used furniture dollies].
Empty & move dresser it has wheels. X

On a break now.
Yea for the wins!

Next take step stool down stairs to unplug sewing machine. x
Move ironing board. x
Move iron & spray bottle. x

Then another break / lunch.
I can do this and have been putting it off.
Lite is better upstairs.
I can do sewing and will try to think on what to do to get items needed in the dresser & desk upstairs for sewing.
Getting clothes and writing stuff out of the room.
I have been thinking about since LH passed it's a process to get stuff cleared out paper work etc...

I had an email offering $25 off a $100 purchase on JJill clothes through today, so I made a quick trip and purchased a few smaller things, continuing the NSV (non scale victory) from last week. I still need to CUOP.

Dh worked out at six, then once home walked ddog. I got up when I heard them come back in, maybe around eight?

I'm now eating my brunch - wanted to wait until I got back home so I wouldn't be starving when I workout at two p.m.

Dh and I are eating out at his favorite restaurant tonight with friends A and V as a celebration.

I just called to be sure I'm covered under prescription drug plan. I've not received confirmation or materials from them, and current coverage cuts off at end of today. I could see earlier in our mail that we're receiving info from the Medicare supplemental plan today.

Now to get ready for workout.
