Re: Tea Clipper Rose Tuesday
The Tea Clipper rose is a medium-sized, repeat-flowering shrub rose bred by David Austin , and introduced in 2006. It grows to 1.2m tall, with matt, dark green foliage. The large, very double, cup-shaped, apricot flowers, are strongly fragrant and carried in small.clusters . The scent is described as, "tea, myrrh and fruity" .

In case anyone is unfamiliar: A tea clipper is a type of merchant sailing vessel, specifically designed for speed, used to transport tea from the Far East to Europe and North America, particularly during the 19th century. These ships were narrow, with a sleek hull and tall masts, maximizing their speed to deliver tea while it was still fresh and valuable.
Tea clippers were built to capitalize on the seasonal tea trade, where speed was crucial for getting the first shipments of the new season's tea to market. They were characterized by their sharp, streamlined hulls, tall masts, and extensive sail area, allowing them to "clip" along at high speeds.
The tea clipper era was relatively brief, but it was a period of intense competition and innovation in shipbuilding, with clippers like the Cutty Sark and Thermopylae becoming famous for their speed and grace.
The opening of the Suez Canal in 1869 and the rise of steamships ultimately led to the decline of the tea clipper as they became less competitive for transporting tea and other goods.

Re: Tea Clipper Rose Tuesday
Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! Happy Canada Day to all Canadian SHEs.
Your birthday party sounded lovely, Helian!
Bama, Freddie had an evening walk as well yesterday - once it had cooled down. He asked, and I obeyed the summons!
L.Ann, you had a productive day as ever!
I hope you enjoyed the luncheon, Gma.
I never made it back here yesterday. As well as cleaning the windows and giving upstairs an its weekly PUPA/ dust / hoover, I discovered some "little jobs" that needed attention. So, the metal strip between the sitting room carpet and the hall flooring is now stuck down firmly again (it had lifted in some areas, which was a trip hazard), the donate pile has been bagged up, ready to take over to the charity bank, and I noticed some timescale on the toilet bowl, so that's had a good scrubbing. I washed the throw in the spare room bed, the cars blankets and the rugs for the bedroom and spare room.
Today is supposed to be even hotter than yesterday. It's pleasantly cool right now, so I'd better get moving!

Re: Tea Clipper Rose Tuesday
Today, as forecast, is turning out to be even hotter than yesterday. I've had a good session in my garden, pulled up some more campanula that's gone over, and did some deadheading, but I need to leave watering the pots I til this evening. There's also some more one campanula that's ready to come out, but that's going to have to wait - either until this evening, or tomorrow morning.
Sitting down with my water now, than I'll start the housework. I need to try and ensure I'm working in the shade - so, maybe the hall first as the sun hasn't got round there yet? I can also draw the sitting room curtains, which should help.

Re: Tea Clipper Rose Tuesday
It sounds like you had a good day yesterday, Kitty. We have limescale in one toilet and can't figure out how to get rid of it. Enjoy lunch with dh! And stay cool.
It is quiet here this morning.
Today is pretty scheduled.
9 - 11ish? (not sure) KS2J get together
12 - 2 payroll lunch + PD meeting
6:30 host Tuesday dinner (just the girls and M so not a big deal)
7:30 book club
Other things should happen too, like exercise of some sort, an email to EP, updating the exam record at payroll, finishing laundry, and progress on the brain dump. I'll help dh get dinner ready. Garbage, recycling, and compost bins go to the curb tonight. Maybe I'll make a trip to Krogers. Also, writing time would be good.
Next:
- back exercises
- s2s and self care
- finish reclaiming the kitchen (if possible)
Later:
- otd by 8:45
- 9 - 11ish coffee shop with K, S2, and J

- 6:30 host dinner for 5
- after dinner clean up? (I might leave before this)
- 7:30 book club at coffee shop

- duo
- update health apps
TaDas!
- up; weighed self

Re: Tea Clipper Rose Tuesday
Kittykatt, thanks for the start and knowledge. Freddie is king, long live the king. I can’t say anything as I have a cat in my lap at the moment. I can’t sit in the living room without being surrounded. I’m on the bed now with Lily, our one eyed terror, she gets the bedroom to herself (no other four leggeds allowed) as she was so sick when we got her. She had that bad eye infection, lost one eye, almost lost the other, it’s still cloudy and I’m not sure how good her vision is. Her lack of sight makes her fearful among the others so she’s allowed to stay here and get extra loving. She goes out in the living room when she wants but always comes back to rest.
Helia, hope you accomplish all of your to do list. Sorry I’m not much help with cleaning recommendations, I was given advice to try clr and/or barkeepers friend here but haven’t tried either yet on moms stained toilets. I use a cleaner with bleach and comet for grit on my own.
I’ve let the dogs out, didn’t notice any spots that require cleaning on the floor yet, and have listened to the Bible, I’m on 1st Corinthians and trotting along. I’ll definitely need to do it again with a study guide at some point but for now I’m content listening to the word and starting my day. Someone had suggested reading Luke for December to go through Jesus journey, I couldn’t make myself start in a middle book lol so I ended up starting in the beginning with Matthew and try to get a chapter most days. I’ve also posted a daily reminder on my phone calendar, “how can I be useful today”. It helps keep me on track…sometimes.
