helia, you have a busy social life; there is nothing wrong with saying that you are not available to meet an acquaintance. You need your downtime as well as time to get things done. Beyond that, there's nothing wrong with donwanna, even if you can't actually say that to the inviter.

Gma, I worry about you too. You give so much of yourself to other people. What sometimes happens to givers is that when they need help and it's their turn receive, the people that they have given to in the past let them down. Their relationship was based on their giving and the other person taking, and to try to reverse that breaks the relationship. This could be a great time re-evaluate your relationships to see which are actual friends who support you as well as benefitting from you, and make space for those people in your life, and maybe put less effort into some of the others.

L.Ann, I love the idea of people singing their way through Tarzan. I read the original book, and it was quite dark.

FrenchFly, I am curious whether you watched a movie and which one you settled on.

Lauralind, I never came back to answer you. I'm planning to take the summer off, and then look for part time in the fall. If I can't find part time, then I'll look for seasonal or temp. I just don't want to work until I drop. And now with the pension and OAS, I have breathing room to cut back at least.

Brief, because I need to go to bed. I spent 4 hours with mother (+ an hour of travel). She ahd ordered 2 cookies and a glass of milk for supper. When I got there, I told her I was going to have supper with her, but she needed to order some food. So I talked her into a cup of tomato soup and a tuna salad sandwich. The aides in the dining room do not encourage any positive eating, just easily allow the resident to order whatever they want. But then Mom would have been hungry when snacks were offered, and a bag of chips would not take care of that kind of hunger.

No scolding, except when I got there - where have you been???? It's been so long!!! I replied, yeah, not since yesterday!
After supper we spent hours going through part of a box of pictures. That kept her occupied and remembering. We'll do more of that tomorrow.
(Next week, I'm leaving on Thursday after taking dfBS to dr visit, and will spend 3-4 days at my cabin. Quilt auction at the Bible Camp we support. )
