Super Star roses have stood the test of time. Bred in 1960 by Tantau, they are still the best selling vermillion rose in the UK today and there is no real rival in sight. This is the most brilliant rose where a colour statement is needed. Super Star is the colour of the lipsticks in the early series of Madmen; it is the brightest orange-red and produces a succession of stately blooms on long stems that just beg to be cut. (And the more it is, the more it flowers). This is a strong growing rose reaching 4ft in the right position and generally pretty healthy.

And here it's actually afternoon :-)

kittykatt, thanks for the start, have a good time at church.

Dogged, we ended up watching Harry Potter 2, and the kids slept fine.

Gma what you write about your current life and past life is interesting, and also sad to read. You mention external validation and being scolded by your DM, it does seem to be important to you what she thinks of you even if you know she's not mentally able to think clearly - and I want to add, even if she is in no place to make judgements on you or anyone else. I agree with Dogged about relationships collapsing when the giver stops to give and the benefitters stop receiving. You provide support but don't get much and maybe don't give yourself much support. Well i'm not sure what I want to say here but please know that we see all the things you're doing for others and not for yourself and we all want you to feel well and live a life that makes you happy and fulfilled. (( ))

L.Ann it's always nice to hear that you have found a balance between me time and taking care of others. You've talked about it before and I think this is something many people look for, this good balance. I hope to find it for me.

helia I'm thinking this morning that you may give this woman "a chance" and spend time with her once, and see where this goes. People can be surprising sometimes, good or bad.

Hi to everyone else!

Rain las tnight, grey and fresh this morning, it's welcome after very hot days. I cooked a bit this morning. We should eat lunch soon.

TADAs
usual Sunday morning stuff
time walking with MrNG, summer break projects and ideas - skills for kids to work on, and so on.
cooked lunch and dinner

TODO
clear table and put plates and such on it
what are our plans / wishes for this afternoon
what do kids want to do this week (with their dad)
relax and rest time
and probably things from the to-do list

I hope church and coffee went well, Kitty.
Nice you got to go for a walk with MrNG, FFB, and talk about important things. I already messaged her, so I don't think I'll change it, but I'm hoping that next time it works out better with a time that dh and I can see her together. I am intrigued that you cooked lunch and dinner at the same time. Did you eat the same food?

I finished all my goals yesterday so I feel proud of myself! :D Updating the exam record for payroll is done! My email reply to EP is done -- though I enjoy communicating with her. (I moved into the house across the street from her when I was 4 years old, and we've been friends ever since.) And I finally have a fulfilled prescription refill to pick up. I did a little. house spiffing before hosting. The young couple we hosted for dinner were very kind and interesting. They are expecting a baby next month, something we did not realize! They also know several good GF places in the area. They are so young, like 25 years old.

Today, we're going to the Anglican church so need to leave around 9:55 (35 minute drive). I need to prep for dh's bday dinner tonight by (1) writing a short speech for him (2) buying groceries (3) cooking quinoa taco bowls + making salad for 8 people. Dd27 is making his requested dessert - chocolate cream pie. Then, we're hosting dh's bday dinner at 6:30. Getting in a long walk would also be good.

Payroll - I'll need to do the GGT project this week, but it won't take long, just 2-3 hours max.

Main Goals
1. Church
2. Groceries
3. Walk
4. Pick up prescription
5. Write a short BD speech for dh
6. Make dinner for 8: Quinoa Taco Bowls, salad, perhaps bread?

Morning all. Kittykat enjoy church. You've probably back home and making lunch already.

I was just like gma on harry potter. It just didn't appeal to me and I was a bit worried ds watching it. I think he did ok but yes. It was just too dark for me. Most movies are like that I guess I just don't enjoy movies.

I too think you are exhausted gma. I tried making a post yesterday but was too sleepy. Took too long and then it disappeared. I also missed a call from dad at 9. It was late for him so I tried calling him back 10 minutes later but no answer. Must have just been wanting what could wait for morning. My phone was on my lap and I was asleep I think and had the sound off.

Anyway yes exhaustion. You have been giving for years and it is duty because you are her daughter. It's impossible to keep her happy and that is the hardest thing not taking that responsibility on you. I cannot keep my dad happy either. It's really hard to separate from his opinions. Dad needs help caring for mom but I have tried finding it. None are good enough. I will do what I can bit I work and I worry about abandoning my own son with work and every day off being out there.

That is not advice but commiserating as I am in your boat.

Lann did have amazing advice. Making room for ourselves first. If I get my own time and what I like to do there's more to give. And I think you might be grieving the loss of the dog too.

Yesterday was a day of wanting to be productive and not doing it. We were all off. A wedding in the middle of the day. It was in our church and we know the bride but barely the groom. Ds amd ddil friends and they all used to come to our church. It was quite a mix of people. Only ones that were never a part of the church were the grooms family. Almost. Interesting I guess I have to think positively about it that all of them were influenced in a big way at the start. A different style ceremony than we were used to. And a little stressful for dh at sound. Then the officiant spoke out the wrong title for the first song and got me lost at the words at first. But it was beautiful and all went well.

That was midday. I was going to do some tidy and cleaning in the living room before and it was all talk and no action. We left at noon and came back around 3. I got lazy with supper and it ended up being pizza that I ordered and went and watered my sisters flowers. Picked it up. Ate. Worked on today's music. A Casper walk and that was it. Oh wait I froze the turkey and cooked the broth.

Now I have to put broth in jars. Get in the shower and get ready for church. That easier too cause I just have to practice the songs a bit I don't have to pick them all.

Good morning, all. It's my weekend, so I am happy.

Thank you for starting us off, Kittykatt. I can see why those roses are popular. Quite a range of shades, so there's a red for everyone.

That is a fun movie, FrenchFly. I loved the first three, but found that there was an abrupt change for the darker after that. I'm glad that there were no ill effects.

Woohoo on getting all of your goals met, helia! That feels good.

When you have as many demands on your time as you do, Lauralind, a slower day before and after a big event is something that you probably need and definitely deserve.

Okay today I am whining/ranting. DD32 woke up with her abscess hurting. Seriously!!!! I do not have the energy for this right now but since that isn’t an option I need to deal with it before we go away on Tuesday and fingers crossed we can get things under control and still travel.

I have already contacted the hematologist and have her recommendations and started her on an antibiotic we already have. I can’t do anything else until tomorrow when I need to snag an appointment with her pcp or go to urgent care since I don’t have enough antibiotic for the whole trip. Prayers and good thoughts that she stays out of the hospital so this trip can happen.
