Re: Flamingo Friday
Flamingos are wading birds known for their bright pink or reddish-pink plumage, long legs, and distinctive bills used for filter-feeding. There are six species of flamingos, with some found in the Americas and others in Afro-Eurasia. They live in large flocks and are known for their social behavior, even choosing friends based on compatibility.
Flamingos have long, slender legs, a curved neck, and a unique, downward-bending bill adapted for filter-feeding. Their vibrant pink or reddish-pink color comes from carotenoid pigments in their diet of algae and crustaceans.
They are found in various aquatic environments, including salt lakes, lagoons, and coastal areas, often in large flocks for protection.
Flamingos use their bills and tongues to filter small organisms from the water, such as algae, small crustaceans, and insects.
They live in large flocks and are known for their strong social bonds, even forming friendships.
While most flamingo species are not endangered, some, like the Andean flamingo, are listed as vulnerable.

Re: Flamingo Friday
Good morning everyone and happy Friday!
L.Ann, your holiday is certainly action packed! And how lovely to see the mousse family. Fingers crossed DD32 stays well.
Dogged, thank you for your kind and encouraging comments. I'm still impressed at your ability to give Germane a pill. Our gang have injections /spot on treatments, depending on whether it's flea/wormer or something like an antibiotic. I think it started because NO ONE at the vets wants to give Freddie a worming pill! And you're right, they're huge (I've no idea who thought that would be a Good Thing). He does have a tiny pill and a couple of capsules every day, but they're easy to crush / sprinkle on the food. And he's greedy, so so long as he's hungry, all's good.
I'm awake early and it's already hot. We're due to reach 32 C again today, or maybe even higher. I e checked on the overnight progress of the fridge, and it's now reached Bristol, which is about an hour away. But, if course, the driver will have a long list of deliveries, so it could come any time. I've also paid to have the old fridge taken away, so that won' t be cluttering up the kitchen. I have to go out this morning, but DH will be around in case they decide to turn up then.

Re: Flamingo Friday
I'm back home, and I had enough time to clear out the old fridge and accommodate everything (except an open pot of cream, which I know from experience will spread its contents everywhere, even with numerous coverings in attempt to seal the lid etc ) in the cool box with its ice blocks for the stuff that really needs to needs to be kept cold like meat , and in a cool bag for everything else, before the new fridge arrived.
Everything went very smoothly, the new fridge is now in its position, and the old fridge has been taken away. I now have to wait 3 hours before it can be switched on, to allow the refrigerant and the condenser oils to settle, so I'll use that time to wipe it out inside and adjust the shelves.
While I was in town, I picked up the prawns DH needs for the supper he is planning for tomorrow, and also a chicken that had been greatly reduced, from M&S Foodhall. They're now both in the freezer.
The bit of floor I was working on yesterday has gone in very well now it's had a chance to dry, and with the bins in place, it doesn't scream out that it's different!
I've wiped the trays that we store by the side of the freezer , and put them back. There's also a baking tray that we haven't used for ages, so I needed to check that it actually fits in the oven. If not, it can definitely go on its way.

Re: Flamingo Friday
Morning kittykat. You have been working so hard making your new fridge fit in and fixing the floor underneath everything. It's going to feel like a new kitchen when you have it all organized.
Figures. Every time I actually turn on the sprinkler for the garden and the new plants in the bed it goes and rains overnight. I wouldn't have needed to.
I woke up early again. I know I should try and slow longer but sometimes I just feel like getting up.
Actually kinda deciding yet should I work later in case our one girl doesn't come. I doubt I will count inventory I feel like it will be too short staff anyway. Amazing the difference when even one person is on holiday.
Maybe I just should go early and take on the organizing myself.... ugh. Seems too much for my 20 year and under team to be able to do the whole seasonal without some help.
Sorry work thoughts out loud. I think I will do some more qt and some routine before work.

I've only got 20 minutes to drink my coffee, eat my banana bread, get dressed, then head to pick up mother for a funeral.
I'll tell you about cocoa and Mom's hand made bed spread later....

Re: Flamingo Friday
Oh, thanks Kitty for explaining your floor stripping project. That makes sense. I hope the new fridge arrives safely and is set up quickly. I suppose as Lauralind said that it will feel like a new kitchen for you!
Oh dear, Gma, it sounds like there was a spill. I hope the funeral with mom goes well.
This is a good place to think "out loud" Lauralind. I don't think anyone minds, and there are several other payroll SHEs or past payroll SHEs here. Did you decide to go in?
It is 6:35 a.m. here, and I'm up. I need to head out the door in about 1 hour to join ds and F at their sonogram! I'm drinking a cup of coffee first. Dh is in zoom meetings for a while; he started at 5 a.m. which is 8 am Michigan time. I'll go to more conference sessions today. I think ds might be joining us tonight? The girls might go out to lunch with us today, not sure. Or dinner since ds is joining us. Must be GF, so we might need reservations for those restaurants for Friday dinner -- and we don't have any yet. I'm thinking aloud here too! LOL!

Re: Flamingo Friday
Good morning / good afternoon, Laura, Gma and Helian.
Laura, I hope you can figure out something for work, without over doing it and exhausting yourself.
Gma, I hope everything goes smoothly for the funeral. Cocoa and a hand made bed spread does sounds like a lot of work for you, and definitely not a good combination.
Helian, the sonogram appointment sounds exciting - you'll get to "see" your new grandchild before they're born!
It's over 30C here again, so l've just done a little more sorting in the kitchen. Another 15 minutes and I can turn the new fridge on. In the meantime, need to get off my behind, drink some more water and do some more sorting!
