I put our old porch rocking chairs on Facebook Market less than two hours ago and have someone picking up in less than an hour. Obviously underpriced at $25 but happy to have them out of our garage. Paint is peeling, I'm not up to refinishing and bought polywood rockers to match our other porch chairs. (Bench and chair on one end in the shade, rockers on other side of porch.) Dh is going to move his car and get them out of the garage for me.

I need to also list a plant stand. It's pretty, but dh doesn't care for it. I had it upstairs in my space at one point but I found I neglected the plants if it was there.

Dh has gone to movie. He's not happy at the thought of doing things to help out here - what I perceive as needed at least. We're to have a discussion later of our plans this week and what I hope he can do to help.

Great Cathy! I'd love some rain. There were a few drops on Friday but not much. Looks like next decent chance of rain is the end of this week.

Later, I have someone coming after the plant stand. I'm sure I'm pricing low, but it's more important to get stuff out of my garage. I pulled out a dated light fixture from when we built the house, I'll get dh to hold it up and take some photos later.

We are getting what looks like a short rain shower, Weather channel says temp dropped to 77? Partly cloudy out, looks like clearing to the west. I'll need to walk ddog soon.

We went for a drive. I was curious about the previously empty campground at the lake. Today it is full of campers that included some with dogs & horses. Dogs are not unusual to see at campgrounds, but I don't think I have ever seen anyone camp with horses.

Afterward we did a little exploring some trails that stressed the Odyssey out. That vehicle doesn't understand dirt trails with weeds on both sides that are touching & taller than the roof. It made all the collision flashers and beepers continuously go off. I kept patting the dash assuring it that it was okay.

Went to the basement, did a bit of clearing off the laundry folding counter.
Checked the freezer found food & brought some upstairs to eat!

The outing sounds fun, LadyM. I understand about your Odyssey not liking those roads, too. LOL at the beepers/flashers, my car doesn't have any of that stuff. Glad that patting the dash was comforting...

And the plant stand is gone too. It feels good to have some things gone. I'm going to have dh pull some more stuff out for me tomorrow. It probably won't sell as fast, tho. And I need to get started selling some Stampin up, or see if it will sell. And I have a big stack to donate too.

Dh cooked our entire supper on the BBQ. Steak, baked potatoes wrapped in foil, a packet of mushrooms, a packet of onions and a packet of green and yellow beans. There was nothing left when we finished supper. We always share a steak and there were 2 in the package. One of them went straight into the freezer when we bought it yesterday.

We had a bit more rain after supper.

One of our interior doors was rubbing on the floor for at least the past week. After supper I tried to close it and it swung closed without rubbing. We have never had that happen in 10 years in this house. It's just too hot and humid.

DS16 is home eager to tell me about his day. A friend called him early this morning asking for help with a farming task. DS16 ended up working with the friend the entire day. The friend is working for a local farmer, but the farmer didn't formally hire DS16. I'm fairly certain the work DS16 did today doesn't include pay so it was a gift of friendship. DS16 was so excited about getting to do new-to-him ranching/farming tasks that he didn't ask for pay. The boss did buy lunch (fast food) so it didn't cost DS16 any money in his adventures today. When DS16 finished telling about his day, I filled him in on the boss past to give him a clue what to expect. We have known his family for generations. The fact that the boss worked DS16 all day and didn't offer to pay him was no surprise to us. I called DBro and put him on speaker phone so DS16 could hear his opinion of what it would be like to work for this fella. DBro told him about the farm hand that the boss killed (ruled an accident) because the boss started the equipment before the employee got out of the way. So many more examples of this fella making poor decisions that hurt others.
DS16 is considering going on harvest with family of his friend. It sounds like an adventure to him. It is hard to get him to understand how long of hours in the middle of nowhere that is. His friend has been on harvest and told DS16 that you stay in the field working and not stopping. Food is delivered to the cab and you eat while working. The friend kept a pillow in the cab of the equipment so he could sleep for a couple hours and then went back to work. It is 24/7 until harvest is done (weeks). It is true that you can make some really good money doing this but it isn't easy. It's not like you can quit in the middle of nowhere and call a cab to leave. I can forbid DS16 from going on harvest for another year, but I prefer him to think it through on his own.

A quiet day here, nice because HRH has an appt tomorrow. We just can't seem to get a calendar week without appts. I have an injection Fri.

I was considering a good bit of cooking after laundry was hanging today, but instead just made my carrot-squash mixture in the food processor for grain-bread sandwiches with cucumbers. Perhaps a good day for cool sandwiches since it's so hot. I'm thinking tomorrow maybe tu-no sandwich filling.

LadyM's automobile comforting made me smile, too.

I did go outside to take trash. A third color of the volunteer flowers' blooms has popped out at the steps. And a few of the wild ferns are attempting a comeback where they were so unceremoniously shaved away - quite a testimony to the sturdiness of natural plants. Wish I could bend down just to touch, but I mustn't. HRH had a fit the other day when I reached out to pull some ivy from the screen. I went in and washed my hands. Sigh. He says he and the grands will tidy that up. I wonder if he knows how careful I always am with the vines so that the screen isn't damaged.

We watched game shows this evening, which was amusing. Sadly, not the kind we could do well in answering, it seems, lol.

LadyM, although I was nowhere near the size and strength of your ds, I think my ddad allowed me to start taking on too-tough farming tasks too early. I didn't have the body weight or the experience sometimes and was just working with peers rather than responsible folks. As long as he really goes into it with eyes wide open at the difficulties, it could be a learning experience. Just seems like the summer is short and at 16 he could be having so much more enjoyment at other things.
