Yet another post from me....I have lots to say today because I feel like I haven't been around much.
Two text chains going this a.m. - first is the group of friends that we get together with for dinner periodically. Since those four couples just got back from Poland, we're planning a Polish dinner for end of August. And the other group is cousins on my father's side that are planning a cousin party next month and we're invited. I've connected with them off and on over the years, I think I last saw their fathers at my father's funeral 26 years ago, that generation is gone now. I never knew this group growing up.
And we were invited to go to St. Thomas with friends M and S in October, and we may go. They have a timeshare there and I think they said their dds and grandkids couldn't go this time. I told dh I'll need a break from traveling at some point. We'll be in FL for a long weekend next week, then back to the Hilton Head in September too.
So much happening these days. And Rosh Hashana in September, less than a week and a half after we return from the beach.

Re: Marvelous Monday PWYC
Y'all are busy bees today...
I've been to my class, came home, ate lunch and then ran errands with Sweetie.
I signed up for the fitness drumming at our senior center for the month of Aug. Seven of us from my morning class have done the same. I think the room holds about 50 people. We are having so much fun we've decided to buy our own ball, tubs and drum sticks and will start our own class at our club house. I think once people start seeing what we are doing that our class will grown in numbers; especially once the snowbirds arrive.
I am up and still standing and haven't crashed so far this afternoon. Hope it stays that way because I have a multitude of projects around my home that I'm itching to get to.
My new music stand won't get here till tomorrow so I can only play with the music book on my lap. Not too disappointed as I am happy I can read the music and play the proper keys on the piano. To be honest I really am surprise at how much I remember. Right now I'm sort of playing simple cords and notes right handed, but remember where the sharp and flat notes are. The keys to the left of middle C are a bit rusty, but I don't think it will take much time before that comes back as well.
Twins...I'm really happy that your party went to well yesterday. Glad the catering were so helpful. I remember putting on large parties for my former husband. It would take me three days to gather everything together and set up. Love the idea that they provided the dishes and such. I think you should use them again. The day after my parties I always ended up being whipped. There was no help for the weary!

Re: Marvelous Monday PWYC
Those shoes arrived and I wrapped them up. Have sent a text to let ds know they are here whenever our green-eyed boy gets a chance to swing by.
HRH made cornbread dressing, of all things. I have no idea why he craved that. I'll be making a sandwich using the large gorgeous tomato the in-laws sent yesterdayl
Laundry continues. As does bathroom spiffing.

5 stops in the city were successfully accomplished in about 5 hours. Counselor appt was good, ate at DD14 favorite place, brought home $260 of fresh/frozen/cold food to restock, was able to change DH prescription from 30 day supply to 90 day supply, picked up DH weed eater from repair fella.
Declutter effort today was the cookbook that I recently pulled off our library shelf with the intention of cooking every recipe. After looking through every page of the cookbook, I realized it was filled with dishes that do not interest us. The cookbook is now in the giveaway stack now. Hum....Maybe I should pull another cookbook off the shelf and see if it deserves to stay. If it isn't something I will use then it needs to be released to find a new owner.
Trash has been gathered from the 9 cans inside of our home and consolidated. Cardboard boxes have been broken down and/or stacked inside each other. It will be quick & easy to take the trash to the road in the morning.
74 cards completed today.

Re: Marvelous Monday PWYC
I like Mondays also, for all the reasons you stated, Harriet -- a new week, new page in the planner. It's always a chance to start fresh. (Like others said, when I was working, nooo... Just like you said, Twins! Sunday night always brought a bit of panic -- "I have to do this and that and finish grading this and fill out lesson plans and auuuugghhh!!!" I'll never forget the relief that washed over me the first Sunday night that I realized I didn't have that stress anymore. And remember, I truly LOVED my job. But it WAS stressful.
Yesterday was kinda stressful in a different way. After getting up at 6:00 a.m., which y'all know is difficult for me, and going to the church service where DS and band played -- we did not sit through both services, DGD said she was "freezing" and we went to their hospitality room and ate cookies during the second service. (Which was almost verbatim the same as the first -- we could see it on tv screen.) We ate lunch before we came home, and then for some reason, I decided to call our pastor and invite her and her grandson to come swimming with dgd... spent a couple hours there... hot hot hot... so tiresome. THEN, the two kids wanted us to all eat supper together, so we went to McD's and went inside and ate.
I was so glad to finally be HOME. Even DGD was ready to lie down early.
(Tonight, she has been in bed for an hour or so, but just asked me if we could play a board game -- at 12:30 a.m.!!! She was just trying to stay awake. Ten minutes later, she is sound asleep.)
Anyway -- I have had a fairly marvelous Monday --
DGD made sure I got out of bed and got started this morning, and I now have
clean sheets on the bed, plus
all laundry is done except towels/underwear and I need to finish folding a small load of the dgrands' clothes.
I went to the post office, took DGD to McD's (yes, again) & swapped DGD for dgs after lunch, and he stayed with me till around 7:00 pm. He had football pictures made this morning.
DS helped me with the "ring" doorbell that I could not manage to unscrew from the holder. It has been "offline" for about a week, and the troubleshooter advised charging before any other steps. Well... it won't charge. So tomorrow, I need to call someone at the Ring customer support and see what I can do about this. Return time for A mazon has passed.
Exterminator came to treat the yard for fire ants.
I also cooked supper tonight for DGS and myself. (Does anyone need smelling salts? I know y'all didn't expect THAT ta-da from me!) It wasn't a huge stretch; I copied from LadyM a few weeks ago and did the Z ataran's red beans and rice. I put ground beef in it. I liked it pretty well, but I don't know if I'll do it again, unless DGS asks for it. He seemed like he really liked it. That was all we had except a big loaf of garlic bread, and we both enjoyed that.
Another ta-da --
I contacted the teddy bear lady Dcousin recommended and I am going to meet her Monday at Wmart to give her the shirts. This almost gave me a panic attack and I had to call DS and ddil and make sure they did not think I was a terrible person because I thought of this t-shirt idea prior to dh's death. They assured me I was being silly.
I have emptied the dishwasher and
washed the dishes I used for supper...
(Prayer request) Texted with dfriend and talked to her cousin on the phone. Dfriend lives out of state and may be having heart surgery tomorrow.
Talked to dmom on the phone.
Texted with Dcousin who is going through crazy divorce. We continue to be amazed at what her ex will put on FB.
AND I did 15 minutes "walk away the pounds" plus a little exercise routine DGD put together for me.
I'm about to shower before bed so maybe I can have a good day tomorrow.
We are supposed to get some rain during the next two days.
Twins, the party sounds like everything went so well! Congratulations to your dh on his retirement, (and sympathy to you? LOL! I'm just kidding!!! I hope y'all will have time to enjoy yourselves and relax and just have a lot of good times together. Sounds like y'all are going to be staying busy!)
I'm curious about what dd14 chose for her favorite meal, LadyM. I think my DGD could eat every meal at McD's... and DGS would choose S ubway.
DGD and I were talking about that today -- what was our favorite place to eat. I would probably take Chick-Fil-A. (We're not very high-brow over here, LOL!)
I think I would like to have some zinnias too... or Gerber daisies. But I don't know when/where to plant them. I don't want to do a lot of weeding. And I need to keep them "safe" from the man that mows the yard. Could I plant them in large pots?
OH! I got a short nap this afternoon also! Very short, but I needed it.
Harriet -- how time-consuming was HRH's dressing? When I do chicken and dressing for Thanksgiving, it is an all day affair. At least, it seems like it takes all day. It doesn't really, but it is very labor-intensive. Boil the chicken, shred the chicken, cook the cornbread, cook the biscuits, (canned), slice the celery, stew the celery and onions, boil the eggs, slice the eggs... I am EXHAUSTED when I finish that chore.
So glad you're feeling better, Rose!
Good to see all of you! Forgive me for omitting personal responses to everyone. I hope y'all have a great day tomorrow!!!
