Homesick for "A version of life that doesn’t exist anymore. A place you can’t return to," Yes... yes.
I'm still saying goodbye to July, even though it is officially August already here in CST.
I don't know what challenges August will bring... I don't know if I successfully navigated July (probably not) ...
I just don't know... I truly feel that I have just been spinning my wheels since dh passed away. I just do what has to be done each day, emphasis on "HAS TO" and I enjoy my dgrands and DS and ddil... I enjoy my Sunday School class (but church itself is still full of issues and I'm not completely happy with a lot of what is going on)... but as far as making plans past the next 24 hours, I don't really have much motivation for any of it and I feel kinda... unmoored? Is that a word? Like I'm just kinda drifting along... And the things I know I need/want to do, I keep procrastinating about.
For instance: I PROMISED myself I was going to repaint my patio furniture. Have I done that? No. Maybe I will buy paint tomorrow.
Tomorrow would be dh's 74th birthday. I feel I should do something, but other than a FB post, I have no plans on that front either.
Boy, I wish we could get a thunderstorm and rain, Cathy and Twins!
I did get up and get started today -- because -- let me tell y'all about YESTERDAY.
I picked up DGS at ball practice, took him and dgd to eat, came back home, put on make-up, tried to explain to dgd why she could not stay home with DGS... just because DGS is allowed to be responsible for himself at home alone with his other grandmother next door (sleeping) does not mean he is mature enough to be responsible for someone else. No one would hire him to babysit their children at this point. Called ddil, had her reinforce this to dgd. Took DGD with me to take dmom to ortho doctor for her shoulder. Dmom got another shot.
Took dmom for hamburger, dropped off her tax info, took her home. Wrote check for her car tags, put out her garbage.
Dropped off her meds at drug store, stopped to ask doctor to renew another Rx.
Home.
TAHOE IS LOSING A
LOT OF FLUID!!!
WAAAY more than normal condensation. Fluid seemed "oily" to touch. Fan keeps running when ignition is turned off and key is in my hand. Called mechanic. He says he probably cannot get to it till first of the week, but to make sure I check coolant before I drive it anymore.
Sooo...
This morning DS came to get me, to take Tahoe to the mechanic (I figured whenever he could get to it, it would be better to be sitting at his shop rather than my carport.) DS checked and added coolant, which immediately began flowing out on the carport floor. I started out the driveway, and DS called to say, "You are leaving a trail of water all the way down the driveway. You might ought to call AAA."
Thank goodness for AAA.
Called, tow truck arrived within 30-45 min. and took car to mechanic.
I borrowed extra vehicle from DS.
Went to drug store to say goodbye to pharmacist who is retiring and has been a friend for 40+ years.
Ate lunch with DGS.
Took a nap.
Ate supper with DGS.
So... it's always something, isn't it?
Nancy, I love to sit on my front porch, but I look forward to cooler days. Maybe in a few years, my new trees will begin offering some shade. It was so nice when I had two large hickory trees in front. Sigh. Guess I'm homesick for that, too.
Lauralind, I know it must be hard to do food for dfil. When my dbro and his wife visit dmom, they always leave behind hot sauces and stuff that they like that she doesn't eat.
I bet your dd was thrilled to have your help with the household projects! That's so good that y'all could get so much done!
WOW -- LadyM, a 10 degree drop in temperatures! Oh my, I hope that moves this way... I wear blue jeans all the time, and just running errands around town has me sweating and my jeans feel like they are just sticking to me.
Cathy, you were talking about the school supplies and things. I have been looking at another planner online... I know I don't NEED it, I know it will probably be just like the PPP planner that had me overwhelmed, but I have something of an obsession. This is an ADHD Planner for household chores -- weekly, monthly, yearly... beautiful colored checklists already pre-printed... only $26... sigh...
Glad to hear you're feeling better, Rose! You have been busy today! Wow -- I am impressed! Good for you playing piano, too. I have a lot of trouble with bass cleft notes too.
Hello to Harriet, blessed, Mystery, and The Most Important Person, who I'm sure I left out...
I know it's late (early) and I'm writing too much but just wanted to catch up with everyone. Hope you all have a great day tomorrow!
Tomorrow I have to start the day with a DPC... Must call ticket office at College Town. Got an email tonight where they said I did not pay $50 for paper tickets to be mailed to me. Well, yes, they charged me $50 and it is on my credit card...

Plus they have charged me $800 (which I assume is for dbil's away-game tickets, but it is not as much as I expected it to be -- so I need to find out which ones he has been charged for and which ones are still pending.)
DGD will be back around 11:00 because DS has a doctor's appointment.
DGS will go to ball practice at 1:00. Later in the day because teachers/coaches will be in Teacher Inservice tomorrow. I don't think teachers have ever started on August 1st before. It gets earlier every year. Kids go back next Thursday.
