That's nice that relatives came to visit your mom, Gma. Our little language school always offers some classes online for students/ clients who aren't local; some are overseas. The exam I proctored a week ago was online. Yeah, I think it's here to stay, though I prefer in person classes and meetings.
CL, my dh has also told me to keep a running average of my weight. I do track it on Noom and can see the graph, which also helps me see general trends. It's just ironic that my weight jumps up the day I need to report it. We were just vacationing on the Olympic peninsula a couple weeks ago! Will you make it over there?
WTG with the exercise, L Ann! That's a good idea to have a time limit with organizing papers.
Enjoy your day with dh away, Kitty. The village fete sounds fun!

Going through family documents is always interesting. Yesterday, I brought an envelope of old photos to share with Mom during my visit. I found my adoption announcement (my brothers and I were all adopted - from different families -- no genetic relatives) + a Christmas letter. That letter described how my mom was taking a woodworking class with my dad. My dad always had a woodworking hobby, but I had not idea that my mom had done that too! And the beautiful coffee table that I had always believed my dad designed and made himself -- well, my mom worked on it with him. :)

Yesterday, the visit with my mom was good. She spoke some words again, like, "I don't know," and she said "strawberry" to choose a flavor of yogurt for her snack, which I fed her. I also made it to the craft store and bought supplies for an easy baby blanket to knit for dgbaby. It was fun to go! Although, it would certainly be a lot cheaper to go buy a blanket. LOL! But I'm hoping to get back into this hobby. S2, J, and I are encouraging me a lot. They're all rather craftsy. I also did a little editing for payroll; AC had messaged me asking about one of our coursepacks.

Dinner last night was good! Dh made coffee-rubbed whole fish and cauliflower with parmesan. I made rice and cut up a cantaloupe. We also had a GF baguette. They brought wine. For dessert, we had some liquers + vanilla ice cream/ raspberry sorbet. We like this couple a lot. I can see myself getting to know her better. She's a pianist, plays for ballet classes (at the big U, I think) and for voice students at the big U. They have been attending/ visiting the same churches we have - the Anglican church (too far away for them, they've decided) and the AME church.

Today, I'm going to do my long jog for the week. 3.3 miles today; I'm slowly increasing each week. The weather is great for a jog - sunny and cool. Then, I think I'd like to spend some time writing; I've neglected that. And I'd like to make progress on house projects before work starts again next week. The desk is done! I want to clean the fridge and start decluttering my bins of books in the play room. Dinner will be leftovers.

Good morning / good afternoon, L.Ann and Helian!

I hope DD 32 feels better soon, L.Ann.

Helian, your dinner last night sounded amazing! I think having something hand made is very special, as the giver has put so much the and love into creating it.

I'm just finishing a very late lunch. I did get my windows cleaned and as much of the cladding as I could reach, but when I was putting everything away and deciding what to do next, G nearly 13yo knocked on the door to say she couldn't turn the tap off on the bathroom basin after washing her hands. :o

So I went to have a look and I couldn't stop the water either, but I was fairly certain there would be isolation valve, so we could stop the water to the basin but not the rest of the house. I couldn't find them (there is a vanity in front of the basin) so I found where the mains water comes into the house and turned it off there. So at least the place wouldn't get flooded.

Then I found Dneighbour S who came to have a look. He found the valves, but as I suspected they're behind the vanity, down a hole, and none of the tools we had between us were long enough. So, I've turned the water back off until DF CW comes home. G and her little friend B now think it's a huge joke not having any water. I got them to fill up containers and the kettle for drinking water, and have offered the use of our bathroom if they need it.

DF CW is now on her way home to take over and hopefully get something sorted out. I think it would probably be fine to turn the water back on to have a shower, as neither S nor I could find any leaks or splits in the connections, but not to leave it unattended.

I made myself a bacon sandwich for lunch and a big green salad, with the addition that Dneighbour R brought me from his greenhouse this morning.

I think I'll hang up the first load of towels to dry next, and the maybe bake something.

kittykatt, that's a really nice neighborly story! The kind that would have happened in my neighborhood as a kid. Thanks for helping 13yo, and saving neighbor from a flood! (Sounds like a plumbing bill is in store for them! ) That's how community life should be.
helian, that's fascinating about your mother and the tools/ woodworking. It sounds like she understands but has difficulty finding, speaking words.
L.ann, sorry that dd32 had another reaction to meds. I guess glad it doesn't happen daily. You've got so much caregiving to do plus all the paperwork related to the estate.
Doggedly, are you still sleeping? It's OK, You were up late.

My Mom called me last night, at 1030pm, to ask when I was going to come to pick her up. I asked her if she was on the floor. She laughed and said "no of course not, I want to go home and sleep in my own bed." I did find one of the aides that we really like, who works only parttime, is willing to come to mother's house to be with mother for a couple hours during a week. That will help mother, I hope. We did it a couple times in the winter. Then that helper moved to another state for her husband's job.

Our post office closes early on Saturday mornings, and I have already been there! I finally got the package ready for dsis2 that was on my list several days ago. Check it off!
It seems to be a lovely day outside. Temp in my car said 68, but it felt more like 80 to me. Anyhow, nice and summer warm.
I need to eat some breakfast first

then clean out my car. I'm looking for a gas card I bought at church yesterday, and can't find. It's worth alot of money, and I need it for all the trips I make to see mother - at least 30 miles round trip, just about every day, and sometimes more.

And make a trip to the vacuum cleaner store where I can get some bags for the 2 vacuums at mother's house. Don't know what their Saturday hours are. It's same town as mother's care center, but a completely different part of town. I could return the blouse she jsut "had to have" and now doesn't want. And neither do I or either of my sisters.

I do have a fun event on my calendar for this evening: We have a local Drum and Bugle Corps marching band that is performing on our high school foot ball field. It's free and open to the public. 2 hours of music. My late husband was in a marching band/ drum and bugle corps when he was 15-18 years old. It was his scout troop; I have a vinyl recording they made.

Luckily it isn’t exactly a reaction, GMA. It is more that the evening meds didn’t occasionally doesn’t sit well in her stomach. The heme recommended taking it with chocolate milk and that usually works but not last night. At least it isn’t a virus.

Hello, all. Thanks for starting us off, Kittykatt. I remember those autograph albums. I don't think that we had anything original or insightful to say, so it's just as well that mine is long lost, LOL. Does your album have "Good better best / Never let it rest / Until the good is better / And the better is best" and "By hook or by crook / I'll be last in this book"
It would be a fun peak at the past to see what the children were saying in your grandma's day.

WTG on getting that online learning done, Gma. I'm glad that you had a nice dinner out with your dcousins.

L.Ann, I'm sorry that your DD is not feeling well. I hope that it passes quickly. --oh, I see that she is on the mend.

helia, that coffee table will now give you extra warm feelings as you think about both your dmother and dfather working on it.

Kittykatt, that is such a weird thing to cover up the valves that we need access to for plumbing. When I had my house, the valve that shuts off water to the outside faucet was behind the original drywall, and I understand that is quite common. Why it doesn't occur to anyone that the valve is something that you might need access to one day, I'll never know.

LOL, I wasn't asleep when you posted that, Gma, but I hadn't been up all that long either. The marching band concert will be fun.

Today's main goal is to get myself to the restaurant on time. Looking forward to this.
I realized last night that I had run out of dog poop bags. Searched a couple of boxes and found the ones on rolls, so we're not completely out. But I should buy some while I'm out, and I hope to go early enough to make it the shoemaker to get my watch strap replaced.

Saturday
Cleaned up after Germane
Started putting away dry laundry
Put on a pot of coffee

Trying to find mojo to keep going. I think I've lost it. LOL! It's 3:15 pm.

I got in a jog - accidentally went 3.42 miles instead of 3.3. LOL! My watch didn't engage with GPS immediately; I was close to the car when I knew it was 3.3 miles but kept going. I've had lunch, done s2s -- and now need to get my afternoon going: some qt, a quick run to WF, and then some housework. And then work on some writing.

Next
- some qt
- WF run
- work on house for 1 hour?

Later:
- some qt
- WF - I need more yogurt + a fresh veggie for tonight
- fridge: work on cleaning
- start going through a bin
- writing time
- anything else from brain dump?
- dinner: leftovers, veggie
- after dinner clean up

- read
