Sunday Well-Spent PWYC

If we had satisfying days yesterday, what could follow but a well-spent Sunday? We're making the most of the weekend, in our own homes, with family, with friends, doing the things most important for us. Worship and perhaps some reflection. And a little prep for the week fits right in.

At the end of the day, call it well-spent.

We're going to the lake today, not a day for being out on the lake itself because it looks like rain through noon and cloudy after that. I'm not excited about going just to hang out but I need to make the best of it. B's wife, R, can be hard for me to take - sometimes it feels like I'm cornered and she's a firehose of talk about nothing and I can't extricate myself. Meanwhile, I like B and enjoy him but I get shut out from talking with him and Dh and anyone else because I'm stuck in the firehose. I thought that A and V were also going to be there, turns out that A is but V is making chopped liver for a fundraiser in a few weeks so I can't count on her to help diffuse R. Anyway, B and R invite us often and we usually have other plans so we felt we needed to accept.

We're home Monday and Tuesday and leaving on Wednesday a.m. for Crystal River FL. As I've said I don't know these people that well but I do like them. They're part of the Torah study group that dh goes to so he is closer to them.

The exhibit at the library was interesting, I see those library staff people often and most know me. Was asked to talk to their genealogy group informally and I accepted. I also got an invitation a couple of days ago to talk to a National Genealogical society quarterly study group - my article was one of 11 chose for study groups this year. They meet for an hour to discuss and dissect the article, then I'll join them to talk about the article and publication and answer their questions.

And then last night dinner with friends, caught up on their news and temple gossip. Very very longtime friends - since slightly before we got married.

I'm in a social firehose this weekend, and again beginning Wednesday p.m. Tomorrow I have body work, and in the afternoon, a workout. Tuesday there's nothing except trip prep.

I need to get moving...we're due at the lake in two hours....

And news, not 10 minutes later! Trip to lake cancelled for today! Ooooooohhh!

Rain! We're finally getting some much-needed moisture. I've already been outside twice this morning and absolutely loved walking in the rain. It might not have been my smartest decision, with the occasional rumbles of thunder, but it was so refreshing that I decided to take the risk.

In my readings this morning I found this. I am pondering it.....

I appreciate all of you.
A suggestion I have talked over with DD; one time she called and asked me to call her as escape from re-set time to get away
from an overly long meeting. Also one could put a timer on the phone and when it goes off excuse your self to deal with that.
For my it could be Rx I need to take in the rest room. Or walk about away from folks and hold phone up to ear as if talking & walk away.
LH & used to say on the way we are only going to stay a specific time slot and then eye contact and say good byes and leave.
Family meal today for 4 gen. pic.
I'm taking either my dog to comfort me if it gets owly or my knitting. Prob. knitting.
I will not stay overly long and I"LL try to go later so I can have the last parking spot for easier exit.
I'ts good to have a plan anyway.

My ring came just before I left! It has two hearts on it and a pink stone termilane sp? I think, in a silver setting.
Update family brunch went well.
I used my charm bracelet with hope love and faint with crosses on it for my fidgeting moments.
A good visit every one got along no arguments yea!
They talked about what's been going on this week at work & life.
It was inside that was good and cooler.
Glad to be home again.

WEll spent PWYC - I was just thinking that I haven't spent the morning well re: work - enjoying my family was a yes - we spent about 1-1/2 hours outside sitting in the shade - chatting. very nice.
I have also been enjoying the portrait artist of the year - British program

yesterday mom was extremely draining for me -- I was easily hurt even though I have been unfazed emotionally for awhile. - probably bc I was tired as mom was up from 5 am on.

Good plan Nancy. Having knitting to occupy your mind a big will let you tune out others as needed, and good to go in with an exit strategy.

Emailed the "pool boy" the teen who cleans up at the pool three times a week, and let him know that I don't have a timesheet for week ending 18 July. He just sent me one labeled 25 June which appears to be for 25 July since he was paid for June already. He will "try to find it."

Dh went bowling, I'm upstairs stamping and piddling.

Well spent day today. Yesterday was a very lazy day. Today I watered the inside plants and helped fill the water jugs to water the outside plants.
I also cut the front yard. Dh did the back yard.

Cobs of corn are soaking in a bucket of cold water waiting to be cooked on the BBQ later. I even made a pasta salad this morning. We are having sausages on the BBQ as well, so I need to get some buns out of the freezer.

Dh and I sat at the patio table for a while in between the outside stuff we both did. Dh told me about the smallest cat running in and out of the bushes while I was driving the riding lawn mower around. He said I would go away from the house and she would run out and then run back in under the bushes when I was approaching her hiding spots. Now she is inside having her long nap. Two cats are inside and one went out a short while ago.

I should go get those buns out of the freezer in the garage and call the other cat to come in. She lays under dh's truck after she has gone on her inspection tour of the yard.

I am trying hard to not lay down today. It's too hard to sleep at night when you haven't done anything all day.

Don’t know if it was well-spent or not, but I went to church and ate with dgrands at local restaurant, and then came home and took a LONG nap!
We are going to prayer walk for local schools at 6:00 pm and then will eat supper.
Ddil hurt her back at work this morning and has to go to ER (which is at least 30 minutes away in the opposite direction from home) in order to qualify for workmen’s comp.
Anyway… dgrands have played well together and not argued so far.

Glad you got some relief from the evening socialization, Twins!
I do like the phone exit strategy, Nancy.

Cathy, you are right about sleep, but I needed that nap!

Enjoying family time is definitely time well-spent, blessed!

Twins', congratulations on being asked to speak about genealogy at the two venues. I'm sure you'll be very interesting.

We're also going to have corn on the cob for supper, Cathy. The recent ones here have been very tender and tasty, so I hope that holds.

HRH also tries to plan arrival so that he can be able to leave in his vehicle when he chooses. He thinks on that carefully.

So sorry to hear that lucylee's ddil has hurt her back.

We rode out today together on a few errands and were stuck behind a confusing car at ATM machine, from which no hand or person ever emerged. Quite spooky, really. There seemed to be an upright person in the driver's seat, with movement, or I would have worried someone had had a medical attack. From that place, another attached ATM walk-up at a bank is visible, so HRH drove to it. Traffic patterns kept us from returning, so someone else would have had to figure out the mystery if needed. It slowed us down so much on errands that we didn't have time to pick up the script that would have been helpful.

Tobias figured out how to trick his dry food machine into giving more food. Although it has been helpful during times we were away so much, I think that machine has outlived its usefulness.

Supper was really good and the corn was really, really good. The husks looked horrid because they were so burnt and they looked so dry. The inside was juicy and not burnt at all. To top off this delicious supper, I had a local peach for dessert with some plain Greek yogurt.

I've had a very good day.
