Helia, enjoy your turkey neighbors. We are down to one turkey again, something got the chickens we added so lesson learned. Looks like Tom’s wild girlfriend was just using him lol, she hasn’t been back, or at least not in daylight hours.

One of the trivia questions while we waited in the theater was about Shatner having received Shakespearean training and he did. Fun fact, he sold a kidney stone for $75,000 donated to habitat for humanity. At 94 he was up and walking around very steadily as he spoke. I have to use the chair arms to get up as I have a bad knee. He also spoke for over an hour and then sat for pictures with hundreds of people afterward, past midnight. I need to do whatever he’s doing.

Just wanted to add I’m an admirer of all the actors on the og Star Trek. It’s too bad only 3 are still living, Shatner, Koenig, and Takei. I wouldn’t call myself a Trekkie although a few people showed up in costumes and it was pretty cool to see. Most were my generation or older but a few in their teens, 20’s were there too. I’m sure the conventions are more elaborate, he’s doing one in Las Vegas soon. His itinerary is full all year.

Never watched Star Trek

GMA, is the book you are reading Frozen River? It was one of my few 5 star reads! The author Ariel Lawhon also cowrote When We Had Wings which is another historical fiction about American military nurses in the Philippines during WW2 who are captured by the Japanese and imprisoned int Japanese prisoner of war camps. It was another fascinating read.

What a weird culture we are, Lauralind, that food manufacturers want to feed corn to cats and meat to cows! It's one of the reasons that I hate having to restrict Germane to one manufactured food. I would much prefer to supplement with homecooked food. Sorry about having to clean up the messes.

As far as I can see, Bama, any fires in my area are in the U.S. I think that our smoke is coming from northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, where they have serious problems. I can't imagine what it's like for the people who have to keep evacuating.
I'm with you; I have always been a fan of Star Trek, but have never been a Trekkie. I loved watching the shows, loved the hopeful view of what the future could be, but never saw the point in memorizing Yeoman Rand's quarters' address or putting on a costume. Considering their age, we're lucky to have any of them still with us.

That dog of mine! She spun in circles, kicking away the rink boards and then waddled off of the pee pads. I put her back on and stood right at the edge to keep her on them. Just at the critical moment she executing an acrobatic move, I don't know, a triple sowcow or something. So, in answer to the age old question "Who flung poo", that would be Germane. Went to the bathroom to get supplies to clean up and emerged to see her peeing on the peepad properly, but of course she had kicked the rink boards away, so imagine the Six Million Dollar Man slow motion run to reach the pee pad and lift the edge to keep it from running off. I don't know if my heart can stand the excitement of retirement.

I’ve loaded the dishwasher, washed all the lick mats, and deep cleaned the vents in back of the range. Who decided open vents on a flat surface where cooking commences is a good thing? Eating leftover pizza for a late lunch.
