Friday? Really?

How could it possibly be Friday again? August will seem like it's flying by. What do you feel like doing today? Will you turn on some music to keep yourself moving or turn on the tv for background noise?

I woke up. I gave 2 cats their morning treats and I went back to bed. Noooo.... my mind shouted at me! You have to get up! You have so much to do! Ugh! I got up and let the all the cats out and turned on the kettle to make my morning cup of tea. Some days it seems like it takes me all morning to drink one cup of tea. I don't have coffee to start my day unless I am in Cuba. They have such good coffee.

Dishwasher has been partially unloaded. Dishrack on the counter has also been emptied. Every pot lid we have was in there. I did do some utensils and pot lids last night while I was loading the dishwasher.

For the first time this year, dh mentioned going fishing last night. I asked if we would be back by noon, he said no. I asked if we would be back by 1, he said no again. I asked if we would be back in time for his toenail trimming appointment at 2. He had forgotten about that even though is is on the calendar AND there is money on the calendar to pay the lady as she prefers cash. He walks past that very large calendar at least 10 times a day. I said maybe we could go on Sunday morning or next week.

Dishwasher emptied and a couple of things went in. Bathroom and kitchen garbage has been taken outside. One litter box has been cleaned. There are a couple of pots/pans from last night in the sink. All dirty laundry is in the washing machine. I even dusted the living room and kitchen. (I have a large china cabinet in the kitchen.)

I was up early today.
Did back yd. walk about with deck lite on still dark out days are definitely getting shorter.
I have done qt journal planning stuff & had coffee & bfast.
Next is to do a walk about in the basement.

Yes the weeks seems to fly by with stuff going on adulting and errands plus other things.

In the garden for 10 min. picked five tomato's & watered a section.

Good morning

Absolutely, music is a must! I have a few favorite playlists that I kick off every morning as part of my routine. No matter my mood, hearing these beloved songs always fills me with joy and a comforting sense of familiarity.

DS17 sold an ATV on Facebook Marketplace, and the guys are here to pick it up. I called DS17 at work and told him to come home and take care of it. I'm not entirely comfortable with out-of-town strangers coming to our house, but it hasn't been an issue so far. These two guys have been here for over an hour chatting with DH.

I spent an hour in the kitchen this morning, hard boiling eggs and using them in a triple batch of tuna salad. I also made a couple of different types of salads. I refilled the vintage Tupperware dill pickle container and the pickled okra containers. Who knows how many decades old those containers are, but they still look just as good as when they were first bought.

Just returned from a trip to check out a pickup that DS17 is interested in buying. DD14 remarked that he sure loves looking at pickups. Yep, he’s fascinated by anything with a motor and wheels. When I asked DD14 what she was most interested in collecting, she surprised me by saying "bread tabs." Apparently, it’s a thing now to collect bread tabs, which are called Occlupanids. How did I not know this? I can honestly say I’ve never given bread tabs a single thought. I guess I will start paying more attention to them.

When I was a teenager, I collected turtles (ceramic, etc. Not live turtles!) I still have them, but the are in a box in a cabinet now.

Y'all would not recognize me today.
I slept VERY late and watched tv even later into the morning, but around noon...
I put a load of clothes in the washer and went outside to start painting the patio furniture. This has been an OMM thing for a few years now.
It was 82 degrees outside, but now (at 3:30) it's 86/feels like 89. I don't know what it felt like at 82, but after 36 minutes the washer was done and I was just about done too.
I really thought I might have a heat stroke. I was thinking about my dfriend facing heart surgery, as I was having shortness of breath and a little bit of blurred vision. I came inside, drank some water and ate some cheese, turkey, and Triscuits. (I had barely drunk anything before I went out, and I had only eaten a pack of pb crackers and a banana.) I finally felt a little better and went back and finished the chairs. That's all I've done today -- 4 chairs. And buddy, you can tell which one I did first, LOL.
They are wire mesh and I'm using a brush -- I just felt like it would be very wasteful to try to spray them. BUT... the brush doesn't get into the sides of the mesh very well. I think I will let this dry and then get spray to do a second coat. I think they will look better, eventually, if I can hold out to do this. I may have to FORCE myself to get up and do it earlier in the day.

I also did a second load of clothes, but all clothes need to be hung to dry.

I talked to dmom while I was cooling off. I asked her how on earth ddad worked outside all those years. She said the trick was that he always started in early spring, when it was cool, and as the weather got warmer, he acclimated himself to it. He didn't just go out and start building a house in the middle of August.
It must be pretty humid though. She said she could not complete her outside walk, which she does practically at daybreak... and ds said he didn't finish his mile run earlier this morning either.

I have to shower and go to the football thing. TTYL!

It was a "terrible, horrible no good very bad" appt. Ugh. (Pain, not news or opinion.) HRH said it was so bad, he was hurting out in the waiting room.

Psychic experiences were happening out there, though - while I was still there, a man came to chat with him about his beard (this happens often) and told him, "You are a young man, only 68 years old." Well, HRH actually IS 68, and he had on a mask of course so you would think the man would have a hard time guessing. But anyway, this man has a gift for knowing ages and felt HRH was a good study, because the beard hides part of the face and neck, of course, too. He really was rather amazing - got HRH's birthdate to within 10 days. He said his brother could do the same with other numbers. He said he himself was 80 now and had done this all his life.

It's all over now, although still a funny feeling as from a nerve being hit, like hitting your elbow. I've had this procedure before and it was not so big a deal, so I feel rather put-upon.

We stopped on the way home at the local fish camp/bbq place and got a large coleslaw and fried okra to add to meals at home. Very good.

Thinking of ddolder, who has driven all day and has 3.5 more hours driving before she can get home. I know that's not fun.

LucyLee - Congratulations on starting the painting project you've been thinking about! You remind me of our DHarmony, who always saw a project through to the end.

I approach projects differently, making small progress on several tasks each day. One of my current projects is painting outdoor mesh metal chairs and tables. I stack them in layers, so the spray paint passing through the metal holes partially coats the furniture below. Each day, I spray paint the top piece, then flip it the next day to spray from another angle. Once fully painted, the chair or table is moved to its designated spot. I restack the remaining furniture to be painted and repeat the process. By the time a piece reaches the top, it’s already partially painted.

I’m so pleased with myself—I took a nap without even realizing it! It’s been such a busy week, and I’ve only been getting 5–6 hours of sleep each night. I feel like I’ve won a prize because I managed to sleep 9 hours and 6 minutes in the last 24 hours.

I've been planting squash, radishes, cucumbers, and Brussels sprouts in the garden. I am doubtful they'll sprout in this heat, but since I had the seeds on hand, I figured I'd give it a shot.

I don't have any paint, but IF I had a small can, there are a few spots I would like to touch up inside the house with white paint. The windowsill in the bathroom needs to either get a touch of paint or maybe a MrClean eraser.

Well there is officially a heat alert warning for tomorrow and it might last until Wednesday. Ah, well... Mother Nature has been trying to outdo herself this year.

We have a head advisory up for early next week so DD & I have made tentative changes to the plan
of here coming here to work. Plus she had a change in employment status, and is making other plans.

I have been working a few min. at a time on the kitchen counters and I can see improvement and got the dishes done.
I did spiff off my desk.
I need to sweep the bathroom ddoggo has been hanging out in there.
