Susan Abigail Sarandon (/səˈrændən/ sə-RAN-dən; née Tomalin; born October 4, 1946)
is an American actor. With a career spanning over five decades, she has received accolades, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award, in addition to nominations for six Primetime Emmy Awards, and nine Golden Globe Awards.

Sarandon made her film debut in Joe (1970) and appeared on the soap operas A World Apart (1970–1971) and Search for Tomorrow (1972). She gained prominence for her role in the musical horror film The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975). After Oscar nominations for Atlantic City (1980), Thelma & Louise (1991), Lorenzo's Oil (1992), and The Client (1994), Sarandon won the Academy Award for Best Actress for playing Helen Prejean in Dead Man Walking (1995). Her other notable films include Pretty Baby (1978), The Hunger (1983), The Witches of Eastwick (1987), Bull Durham (1988), Little Women (1994), Stepmom (1998), Enchanted (2007), The Lovely Bones (2009), Cloud Atlas (2012), and The Meddler (2015).

Sarandon made her Broadway debut in the play An Evening with Richard Nixon (1972). She returned to Broadway in the 2009 revival of Exit the King. On television, she had guest roles on the sitcoms Friends (2001) and Malcolm in the Middle (2002) as well as starring roles as an advocate in the HBO film You Don't Know Jack (2010), Doris Duke in the HBO film Bernard and Doris (2008), and Bette Davis in the FX miniseries Feud (2017).

Also known for her social and political activism, Sarandon was appointed a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador in 1999 and received the Action Against Hunger Humanitarian Award in 2006

Good morning everyone and happy Saturday!

Kittykatt, if your DH does not like your option for buying his shirt, wouldn't it be more straightforward for him to just buy his own shirt himself? Remove you as the middleman as it were.

Dogged, in theory, that would be a *very* good idea, but there are many problems associated with DH buying his own shirt. He doesn't know how to work out what size he is,. In all fairness to him, some companies use a number (he's an 18 neck in M&S, which translates to a 3XL in their size chart) , but sizes across different brands are not the same! And he's used to buying himself his t-shirts, where the sizing is different again. (an XL in t-shirts is *not* the same as for a button down shirt!). And we're not even going to go into the difference between regular and slim fit!

Also, I prefer to buy reasonably good quality clothes, as, IMHO, they look better, feel better and stay looking nice and last a lot longer.(And in many cases are made more ethically). I also know I would have to deal with things that dildn't fit / creased badly/etc, and I want him to look good and feel good in his new venture.

If he likes this shirt, I'll get him a few more so there's not a mad rush to get it washed and it ironed each time he needs to wear it. Or, I might just swing by M&S when I'm in town one time and buy him a multi pack of white short sleeved shirts that I know will fit! .

Poor Little Bit, L Ann. That sounds very painful! I'm glad you were able to get it sorted out.

Gma, the county fair sounds lovely - I'm glad you and your DMum had a good time. And your DFriend has arrived safely too - that's very good to hear. I hope you get a chance to catch up with each other, even though you'll be very busy taking care of your DMum at the funeral.

Yesterday I had a nice, productive session in my garden, and repotted my agapanthus. It was badly potbound, which print explains while it didn't flower well this year! It's not looking very happy now, but I'm optimistic it will settle down again.I also managed to fold all laundry and PA, which was a big improvement on the last few Fridays, even though Jude decided she wanted my lap!

Today I think DH is out with his friends. I'm sure I'll find plenty to keep myself occupied! Temperatures are supposed to start climbing today and reach the 30s for the next few days, so I need to plan accordingly and ensure I'm inside during the heat of the day.

Off to bed with ya, Dogged! Re chokeberries, ours have a distinctive taste too, but it's kinda acquired love - I can eat them from the bush, but they are much better with sugar
kittykatt, I love Susan Sarandon! I think I first saw her in Witches of Eastwick (did I say I love Jack Nicholson too?) and she's so talented!

We actually saw another great movie performance yesterday - Three billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri with the wonderful Frances McDormand as the lead character. Her Oscar was well deserved for that role! We were looking for something in the streaming services and just stumbled over this one - I've seen several Martin McDonagh's plays ( The Beauty Queen of Leenane is especially haunting for somebody with difficult family relationships) and I do enjoy his sense of humor.

DBD is coming home today. The big kids will be returning tomorrow - they have one last night sleeping outdoors and then are coming by public transportation. But majority of their stuff will be brought by the bus DBD will be on, so I can get started on laundry today! Our poor washing machine will be running non stop

DH's left for the cottage - he has some stuff to do there (we're renovating the handrails on the terrace and he needs to paint all the new wood), but he should be home by evening. DBD's room is not finished yet and twins' room is still a nightmare, but I will see what can be done about it!

Sleep well, Dogged!

Good morning, Trissie! WTG with all your hard work on the girls' bedrooms. I hope DBD enjoyed her time at camp. I can just picture 2 weeks of laundry from 4DKids!

I've had a nice slow start this morning - coffee with DH before he left. Since then Ive taken Freddie out, had my breakfast, cleaned up the kitchen after DH's cooking (I think he's making shepherds/ cottage pie for supper tonight) and started the first load of towels in the washing machine.

It's still quite pleasantly cool out, so I'm going to go for my walk next and then do something in my front garden, which is still mostly in the shade. Then I'll tackle indoors during the heat of the day, and then, hopefully, the back garden once it's cooled down again. At least, that's the plan!

I like Susan Sarandon, Kitty! I just recently saw The Rocky Horror Picture Show for the first time, which was a bit of a cult classic during my high school days. I remember dancing the time warp at most school dances. . . Unlike most of my classmates, I was not allowed to see the movie -- but I did know most of the songs and the general story because they told me. LOL! I hope you enjoyed your walk.
trissie, I'm interested in the Cumberbatch War of the Roses film - to answer your question from the other day. I hope DBD enjoyed her time at camp! Good luck with all that laundry.

I'm up and having my coffee at the bnb. We need to be out in 2.5 hours. I've had some bfast. I don't normally eat breakfast, but K made this french toast bake that is to die for! There is so much food in this house -- mainly healthy food -- still a ton of fruit. S2 just made a quiche and J is now making banana bread. J and S2 are determined not to throw any of the food away. However, I just can't eat that much! They can -- they're both very very thin. (S2 is a 3ish hour marathon runner and is running the Chicago marathon again in a couple weeks at age 50. J runs a little each day and is Taiwanese with a naturally slight and slim build.)

We leave our bnb at 10 but our flight is at 5 pm. We're going to a State Park to hike around and have a picnic lunch.
