Hi Harriet! Thank you for starting us off this morning.
The humidex will take us back into temps over 100. We have an outside party to attend this afternoon. The invitation says "Ice cream" will be available. I am trying to keep dh away from ice cream, but I think the temperatures will need to be counter-attacked with something cold!
I went to the store and got a case of cat food and a few other things. I also had to take a loaf of bread out of the freezer when I got home as they didn't have any of the rye bread I wanted. I will be having a toasted sandwich for lunch shortly.

I"m doing a 31 day *posititivity challenge write on positive thing down each day. *[positive-ity]
DS17 and a friend set off on their 8-hour driving adventure. They decided not to bring the GFs because (1) the drive is boring, (2) the car is tiny, and (3) one of the GFs is 7 months pregnant.
I spent an hour in the kitchen preparing for the day. I've got some steaks thawing to cook later, fresh salads are ready, and I tried baking corn tortillas—but that was a flop. On the bright side, I managed to create up a seafood soup with shrimp, oysters, and crab meat without a recipe, and it turned out great!
Baby steps accomplished on projects today - I've painted outside furniture and planted some radish & beet seeds.

DD14 has put together a list of needed school supplies. While I already have a stash of supplies set aside, I plan to save those for later in the year. There's just something so exciting about choosing new binders, notebooks, pencils, highlighters, and more to kick off the start of a new school year. And we are off to shop......

got some card making stuff and 2 books on organizing & planning & glue gun.
I was just thinking I needed a glue gun. Also one more thing a new beige plain book bag new
had never been used.
I'm getting some fun crafting things for Dgd to use while she recovers in the fall.
Guy across the st. agrees the tree should be taken down by a professional & they will do the work
chip it up and it will be safer. So glad to have some one to look at it besides me.

Is it funny that I actually like folding laundry? It felt positive to get those new tees of HRH's folded so neatly along with the remainder of my own new socks. If there was any dye or chemicals (and there certainly could have been), I'd like to think I foiled the dastardly stuff and it won't get onto our skin, lol.
Honestly, though, these cheap tees are short in length compared to others and I have the feeling, as I fold them, that the sleeves are oddly short, too. In folding them the same way, they don't take up the space of other tees, so I think he'll find them skimpy even though he bought the size he always buys.
A grocery order was done and I made sure produce will be replenished around here. It will be needing me to help put it away between 3 and 5.

Speaking of excitement at education, while I was doing laundry, HRH drove out to a local Thai restaurant and got a lunch he's been craving. He met a very interesting young man fresh from getting his economics degree in northeast Thailand and coming here to work at restaurants until he can afford to open his own business. HRH finds someone to talk to everywhere he goes. He's very hopeful for the young man.
We watched a Death in Paradise mystery while we ate. The tv is definitely the "new hearth" of our society.
School supply shopping went great! It warms my heart to see DD14 excited to shop, even in crowded stores, and confidently make decisions—things she didn’t find easy before.
We made a quick stop at Sam’s for cold, frozen, and fresh food. I’ve tried curbside pickup a few times but often feel disappointed with the items compared to what I’d choose myself. So, I decided it was worth the effort to go inside and pick out the fresh produce personally.
I'm following DS17's journey on Life360. He's been on the road for seven hours and has about 2.5 hours left to drive before he gets back home.

I think it got to 110 F here. Sorry to keep on about this weather this summer, but it's not something we normally get. When Canadians say their temperatures range from minus 40 C to plus 40 C, we don't usually get to the actual 40's. Today with the humidex, it said 40C on our computers and the weather stations. Add to this that it's been the second worst year for wildfires across the country, it hasn't been an enjoyable summer season so far.

I’m positive I’ve done nothing useful today.
Dgd did wake me up early, but I just couldn’t face the paint project again.
Next week, I will have to take dgrands to school on Thursday and Friday, so if I don’t get finished by then, I will be up early again and will have no excuse not to get at it.
I really have no excuse for today, except that Dgd didn’t want to go outside.
Dgs and I have eaten supper and are watching tv now.
Thoroughly enjoyed prayer meeting tonight. Several book suggestions that I have scribbled down for possible rewards/study.
Cathy, I am very interested in the effect there has been on you and your area because of such a surprise. Just because it's the "just the weather" doesn't mean it isn't a big impact.
Well, interruption from the husband ... .. a drive out to the corner store (good little distance, actually) is on the table for me to join and I think I will.
