Just got back from taking DD14 to the family doctor. We had to wear masks before entering the office. They began the visit by testing for flu A, flu B, strep, and COVID. All the tests came back negative, so they concluded her sore throat was viral.
She has a new-to-her inhaler to use twice a day for asthma. She has to rinse her mouth out after using this inhaler because a side effect is thrush.
I'm a bit confused about the change he's making, but I went along with it. The family doctor was the one who referred us to the place where we took DD14 for autism testing. Now he's saying that provider isn't the best and wants us to switch to a different place for autism testing, one that's staffed by doctors. I'm not familiar with the whole autism testing process, so I'm just following his lead. On the positive side is this change will reduce our drive by over 100 miles for each appointment.

Our school secretary is undergoing chemotherapy for breast cancer. She has chosen to keep working, and everyone is very supportive and kind to her. However, even with my limited interactions, I can tell she is mentally struggling (chemo brain?). This week, both times I went to the school office to check DD14 out, there was no sign-out sheet. When I asked if I needed to sign DD14 out, the secretary said, "I keep forgetting to make a sign-out sheet. It will be okay for you to go ahead and take her." Without a record of who picked up a student and when, I am unsure if DD14's absences are being properly recorded.

DD14 said her history teacher sits the entire class scrolling on his phone. He is her worst teacher that puts no effort into the class. This is the 3rd year she has had him as a teacher and she claims he has never stood in front of the class and taught. He just says "turn to page xxxx and read and then answer the questions".

I asked DD14 today if they have access to TikTok, Spotify, etc., on the school Chromebooks, and they do. I was surprised and asked again, "Students can watch TikTok during class on school computers?" The answer was yes. But no cell phones.

Only one of DD14 classes has a book. The other 6 classes is all online or paper handouts from the teacher.

a licensed clinical psychologist can be referred to as "doctor," but they are not medical doctors (MDs). They hold a doctoral degree, either a PhD or PsyD in psychology, which allows them to be called doctor. However, they do not have the same training as medical doctors and cannot prescribe medication or perform medical procedures.

So the person DD14 saw on Monday was PsyD and had Dr before her name.....however she isn't an MD.
The doctor that we are being referred to now is a medical doctor (pediatrician) that specalizes in integrative care for Autism/ADHD

Bw2 big hugs for all the stuff going on for your mom heart liver UTI hip , etc. Wow So much to be treated for as well as brain stuff.
Way too much to comprehend for most people.

We have fires wind and the called in state resources water tankers by air etc. but it's no where near me.

Ramblin', you two and your friend did the best anyone could do in such a situation. I'm sure the temp wasn't helping the gentleman to remain talkative or optimistic. Hopeful that your electricity comes back soon. You and sweetie deserve a cool evening.

I just called to be a cheerleader for dgsonC as he has first day of new school tomorrow. He says he is both excited and anxious. They went in a grocery this afternoon to let him choose some lunch foods, since no, there is no cafeteria and everyone brings their own. Sometimes there is pizza if you order in advance but that hasn't started yet. There is no doubt in my mind that academically he will have no problems, but socially he may be on overload, since he is both used to online school and an introvert himself.

I asked about phones - they may have their phones with them but not be ON their phones.

I tired myself out mopping on Wet Wednesday, but floors look good and so I am okay with that.

HRH stopped me from vacuuming earlier, so I swept first instead - less than ideal.
We had a bit of an argument there. I have passed the number of days until I can vacuum, but he is still cautious and doesn't want me to.
(Yes, my list is that detailed.)

It seems to me if I wear a mask, for instance, he could relax about it. Still 3 months until I can do outdoor work or garden or touch plants/trees.

No test results in my "portal" yet from last week. Long day of appts Friday, one with my dr's PA (or NP?).

Nancy, our news carried the stories about those wildfires so I'm glad they are not too near you, and that the pros have the equipment out to combat it all.

lucylee, have you been retired 12 years?!? It doesn't seem possible.

I've realized I forgot to ask about Twins' delivery of lovely paper supplies. Hope it was just what she wanted for her artistry.

dd younger had a French teacher who ignored all the kids on their phones getting answers for the tests.
I think you may have to say something. If he has tenure they may be moving him about.
I am so sorry she has an uninterested teacher!

'd lady my nephew is a Dr. of physics - no medical anything. A dr. of psychology does not have a medical degree. they are called dr. because of their degree but a psychiatrist his a dr. of medicine or another medical degree (I can't remember what it is but I believe it starts with and "O" . A psychiatrist is a medical dr. (two types) they take the same classes.

I can't be added as a POA - mom and dad did this a long time ago. dd older went to an attorney and she said that it is iron clad.

mom is coming home at 3:00 - just found out. so that is very good!!!
