anti procrastination Wednesday August 20, 2025

Post by blessedw2 »

Good morning!

When I was younger and my kids were small I loved my routine and Anti procrastination Wednesday cards were always welcomed!

Having a day of the week just for things that I have been putting off , really helped me to get those things done.

What is your Wednesday going to be?

I hope your Wednesday is wonderful!!!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

I thought mom would go last night. I expected it. She was bad all day, extremely weak. I had a nurse check her out and all her levels were fine. we had her sitting last night on the couch - she finally fell asleep - woke up drinking water/ensure etc. her legs but not ankles looked swollen. dd and I put her to bed.
she always has a bad time after a hospital visit.

she slept well and now she is talking again and is not uncomfortable anymore. probably her heart.

Moving forward:
working with a Wednesday routine
hoping for one hour each day in the garden
anti procrastination: weed where the garlic will be put.
waiting for raspberries to ripen
lost all my basil bc I didn't water too much in the garden area.
it is always a joy to be here with you!

((blessed)) Hoping you will have a day without so much worry, and see less discomfort for your dmother. I meant to tell you how happy I am for your dh feeling so much better lately. Not hard to lose some plants when you have so much going on.

About the hurricane - we will get mostly rain. Ddolder's in-law family will have more but not expected to be too hard on them. Ds' family's long-time vacation/fishing-trip community on the coast will have it worst, of course, but is hoping to keep their roads open.

Today there are laundry needs, plus kitchen-spiffing looks like more than I'd hoped, probably because of yesterday's planning sessions in there that didn't get anything actually done, lol, and the constant workmen in and out, which kept me from rest. I have a Dreaded Phone Call to make and appt to make. Also, one more phone call to be sure kids all know about a cousin's health concerns.

Supposed to shop/research several appliances, large and small. Some of it anti-procrastination. I am so ... .. thrifty. lol. I don't look forward to it.

Good morning! I have risen but am not shining. I think when I am done typing here, I will go make myself a "mancha lante," as a YouTube character DC likes puts it. I don't know if it will do anything; caffeine affects my GI tract more than it does anything else. But maybe it will have a placebo effect if nothing else.

No payroll work so far today, which is good, because I want to get at least one procrastinated task done: make the black currant syrup. Of course, Mt. Dishmore awaits in the kitchen and must be summited before I can start -- and then I will have the dishes from the process to clean.

blessed, it seems life with your mother is never boring!

Harriet, when we installed our (currently non-working :( ) dishwasher, I was able to make up some of the lost space by putting a lazy Susan in the corner cabinet. It's large enough that our pots and pans and a few of our most-used baking pans live there. As for narrow spaces, we have a pullout by the sink, just the width for cans and jars (which we admittedly do not put to very good use), and next to the dishwasher, they suggested a cabinet for trays and cookie sheets, which I didn't want, as our old stove had one (our new stove does not), and I instead had open shelving installed facing sideways, and it now holds cookbooks and cereal boxes. Don't know if those cause any ideas for your own space to leap to mind, but I couldn't help mentioning.

It is gloomy/rainy here, and I don't want to move. But the time has come to work on the playroom; DD is ready to go, while DC is finishing breakfast.I don't get to do much in there because I can't make most of the decisions (I can encourage, but it doesn't always take...), and the next thing I need to make the decisions on is currently inaccessible. So mostly I sit there and keep them on task and try to encourage them to give things up.

Waving back to Nancy! I hope everyone has a good day!

Good morning

I am enjoying using the hip pad and feeling it increases my chances of nothing falling through the cracks.

DS17 just sold his 05 Duramax (let the celebrating happen!). This vehicle has taught him much over the past 3 years. It is leaving our place on a trailer. Sometimes you just gotta yell calf rope and get on with life.

We are down to 3 vehicles in the driveway. .....for a moment or two......DS17 just left to talk to a neighbor about buying his vehicle.

DS17 completed most of today's schoolwork last night in preparation for interacting with the buyer today. I finished grading his assignments before 10 a.m.

After picking up DD14 from school this afternoon, we’ll head straight to the city for DH’s 4:45 pm ultrasound appointment for his bladder and kidney. I’ll drop DD14 off at DD49’s home along the way. It’s going to be a tight schedule to make it all work, but most of the drive will be on the interstate at 85 mph, so delays should be rare.
After the appt we will get prescription from pharmacy and pick up a few frozen/cold items needed to restock. Then we will pick DD14 up and hopefully be back home before 7pm.

This is our first attempt at a hopeful solution for DD14's bath and hair situation. I’m not sure if it’s hormones, teenage attitude, autism, a water aversion, or something else, but DD14 has a noticeable odor. We’ve tried many things without success, so now we’re trying something new. DD49 has her soak in a bathtub filled with soapy water up to her chin for 30 minutes. DD14 hates it but complies. She absolutely refuses to do this at our house because the two bathtubs are in the bathrooms used by DH and DS17. ANYway, we will be taking DD14 to DD49’s house twice a week (Sunday and Wednesday) for her bath and hair washing. On other days, she will use the shower in her bathroom at home. I realize this isn’t a typical solution, but it was agreed upon by DD14, her counselor, myself, and DD49, so we’re giving it a try. It does mean adding 100 miles of driving to my weekly schedule, which isn’t ideal, but it’s what we’ve decided for now.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

I'm here.

I have been absolutely hooked on a book since Monday afternoon and I just finished it. Other than that, I haven't done much.

Dh has his diabetic check up this afternoon.

We are getting late October weather here today. Really windy, overcast with some rain and I had to put on a hoodie to go pick some blackberries in the garden. It just feels really cold even though it isn't.

We even picked a single bunch of grapes to taste them. They are a bit tart, but still delicious.

Oh my. I have so many things I've put off. I could work all day and never get to all of them, but I'm going to try to hit several....at least do baby steps on several to get myself started.

I had body work this a.m. - my hips/back/glutes are better than they've been in a while but I'm still achy overnight trying to sleep. After, I ran three quick errands all in the same area. We'll say that one was an anti-procrastination task - getting a $20K cemetery check to the bank. I think it came on Friday or Saturday so it's not been too long.

Other anti procrastination tasks that I could hit today:
-find something that I can sit upstairs bookcase on while I paint it
-DPC to order CPAP supplies (have to give them medicare and supplemental insurance info)
-Email to organize a cemetery board meeting. I've given up on the guy who is chair being able to get it on the calendar
-DPC re email bill former treasurer received for HOA for mosquito control for April through August. Pool chair person hasn't authorized it. Showed up out of the blue and came with SPAM warning
-Notes for temple member doing an "organizational" study for the board
-send cards for three occasions, two "thinking of you" for temple members and one sympathy (trainer's fil)
-pack raincoat to send for re waxing
-put a closet door on Facebook market - was removed when we redid the kitchen two or three summers ago
-photo SU ink pads with reinkers to put up for sale in SU buy/sell groups
-photo Silhouette Cameo machine to sell - I've never gotten the hang of it and it just sits
-make an appointment to get hearing checked and hearing aids cleaned, serviced
-repot peace lily, aloe plant
