Glad your dmom is better and feisty today, bw2. Hoping you get that outside time that you need, I'm glad the helper is there today. I'm echoing Harriet's wishes for less discomfort for her.
I'm surprised Harriet would have rain from the hurricane where she is. Our forecast is for rain over the weekend, but Erin will be long gone by then I think. Harriet is this the dcousin that has the farm?
Waving to Nancy, who's been busy already this morning!
Mystery, I'm impressed with the playroom cleaning and that you're holding DC's feet to the fire on it. And I'd have to say I'm not shining so far either.
I love the solution for dd's bathing, LadyM, and hoping it works well. And congrats on being down to three vehicles in the driveway, after all, there are only three drivers.
Cathy, I do envy you with cooler weather. I get into books sometimes like you do and stay up at night reading until I'm finished...
Gotta get to work. Dh is home from his lunch out and trip to the bank. I think I'll pack up that raincoat first, then I can work from upstairs.

No, this is a maternal cousin who lives about 10-15 minutes away. He is the son of the dear aunt (by marriage) who had the stroke and lost a lot of communication skills, back when I was sharing so much caregiving with my cousins. And he shares your interest in genealogy, Twins' and Ramblin'. Right now, he is trying to establish that our mutual great-great-grandmother M was an identical twin, through DNA investigation of our relationship to the potential twin L's descendants.
So far, it appears that we have closer kinship to L's descendants than to any of M's other siblings' descendants.
Laundry may be done - don't think I'll go further today.
Kitchen work half finished.
Trash and Recyclables done.
Kitty potty too, although HRH has to do all that now - I can't touch.

check in - mom walked today -- this was the woman on deaths door last night - she is feisty which for her is good - she ate a big breakfast - she was night happy that we made her get up. she was mad through out breakfast and she got angry that the helper held on to her as she was walking -
cooked potatoes for potato salad
cut up and salted cucumbers for salad later
onions cut up for potato salad and made the dressing.

Re: anti procrastination Wednesday August 20, 2025
I thought i'd done all my qt stuff but missed one set of journal pages for the week.
This has been sorted out and I have them in the planner I use each day for that.
Doing sort of a reset as some plates were done going to diff. ones for them.
Did read a chapter and got some great notes and put them in day runner & comp.
note book broke the first draft in to steps with spaces for answers to q's.
Before lunch I got three too long branches cut down to the good size to fit in cans.
Made lunch
later had an isshy tummey / rested.
knitted a bit.
Noticed the neighbors moving truck arrived and they are unloading shop stuff and
bigger furniture and smaller pieces too. Took ddoggo out on the lead for a potty break in
front and a walk about in back then then she was quiet inside.
Now wants food and had camped out by her food bowl.
I can think of a letter to write snail mail & one email to go also 1 of 2 done.

I worked on a baby card for the next door new baby boy. My creativity has been nil on this, in part because it's been so long since I made a baby card. I'll use what I've learned to make a baby girl card, which comes more easily to me. I can give it uuuumph with a bow!
Dh has leftover lamb chops for his supper. I'm grilling the corn on the cob that he forgot to grill with lamb chops, and some chicken for myself. It's raining a little but I'd rather grill.
Tomorrow I have a couple of errands which I'll do after my workout.

Cathy, you probably have a similar happy situation as Nancy, with no danger from chiggers when you pick blackberries. In our climate, the old adage is that there is a chigger for every berry. You take your life in your hands (so to speak) without extreme finger-to-neck-to-ankle gear for protection. It's a shame because they grow quite plentifully here. I hope you and dh enjoy them. My mother's fruit cobbler recipe has been a delight with blackberries for years - love that. Very glad to hear your dh is able to start his shingles shots - such a good thing.
LadyM, I'm glad dd has a plan for bathing and can see that having to decide to bathe in a man's bathroom for any actual full bath would be off-putting. Ddolder's boys have been a study to me as far as often having quite a "ripe" aroma, even though they surely take regular showers (?) because their mother is a Drill Sargeant about anything to do with grooming. It's a teenager thing. Full baths would be effective.
I thought I was finished with laundry today, but HRH got himself into a messy spill and I decided it was best to handle quickly, so another small load is in the washer now. The kitchen looks very good and a little more counter space freed. We have brought the new (dd's "seconds" from wedding presents) air fryer into the kitchen, and it is on the counter, already having produced French fries and later frozen egg rolls for HRH. He's very pleased.
Mystery, thank you for the ideas. It would be a thin, deep space. A pull-out is a thought.

Re: anti procrastination Wednesday August 20, 2025
We're getting to that age with dgrands, too, LadyM & Harriet. DGS has his first pimple (ddil noticed Monday night)... lots of signs with dgd9 already... they are definitely growing up waay too fast for me!
I guess it's kinda anti-procrastination WEEK for me. I went out and painted some more on the patio furniture.
Folded and put away laundry while talking to DS earlier today.
Contacted everyone to pray for dfriend's surgery -- then it was bumped to FRIDAY. I know she is about to go crazy.
Went to church tonight -- hot dogs and bingo. The kids were supposed to have water slides, and they did get to stay out long enough to get soaked, but thunderstorms didn't let up and they played bingo too.
Tomorrow, I will have to meet our pastor at the bank to get myself on checking accounts. Since secretary quit, they asked me to go on the accounts as an additional person who can sign checks. We do have a new secretary at the moment, but they don't expect me to quit the church anytime soon, so they are still asking me to do this also. (This is the second secretary we've hired since long-time secretary quit. First new hire quit on second day. She said she needed a job with benefits. Hmmm... I don't know why she didn't realize this on first day.
Picking blackberries. In dh's childhood, a lady in our community was bitten by a rabid fox while picking blackberries! It was in the Southern part of our state, but they lived here -- went to church with dh's family. A lady in my Sunday School class was talking about it just the other day. Be careful, Cathy! (I will say, foxes are easier to see than chiggers, which we also have in abundance.)
Ditto that it is good to have shingles shots. Shingles aren't as bad as rabies, but I wouldn't recommend either.
Cathy -- what book were you reading?
I think I need an air fryer. And a crock pot. DGS wants me to make a pot roast. The last one I made in the oven was much too dry.
Looks like you have had a busy day, Twins!
You, too, Nancy! Hope the new neighbors are nice!
Glad to hear your mom was improving, blessed. (Even if her temperament wasn't exactly what you wanted!)
Mystery, the next time I have both dgrands here, I need to do some cleaning out in their "playroom." (DS's old bedroom, which has a lot of stuff that needs to be discarded, I'm sure, but I need to see if they still think they will play with certain things.)
This is as far a topic review takes me. I'm going to wave to all y'all and turn off this computer. Hope you all have a good night and a good day tomorrow!
