Happy birthday to lucylee!

I turned into a slug Tuesday night and remained so all day yesterday. I thought I had gotten a decent night’s sleep, but I was dragging anyway. I got to bed later than I wanted to last night, yet today, I have some ambition. I went to the store and finally picked up some sugar after dropping DC at school and swung by to get my car’s emissions check on the way home with DC.

That put us starting on the playroom a little late, but once DD had had her lunch, we put half an hour in. Today was cars and Happy Meal-type toys; most of the latter were pitched. The cars got divided into three groups: one set went into the bin for the attic, one set went to the school with DD, and there are some Matchbox cars that DC sent a picture of to a friend who collects such to see if he’d like them. Oh, and we went through a couple of jars of spare parts. We pulled out the game pieces and the obvious hardware; DH will have to look at some of the rest to see if he can identify them.

I need to do a bunch of dishes in the kitchen to make room for making the currant syrup. It’s getting late enough that I might not have time to make the syrup until after dinner; I should see if I’ve got a dinner in the current week’s menu plan that does not create too many dishes!

If I get all that done, I really need to wash a batch of shirts for DH. It’s a job I hate, and boy, have I been procrastinating on it. Well, I guess I’d better stop procrastinating and apply the BGS! See you later, I hope.

The weekend fair sounds like a lot of fun, LadyM! Yes, toilet paper is a necessity, but I'd rather order it and let someone else deal with the bulk (same for other heavy things.) Remember when we had to buy dog food at the grocery or pet store and schlep it home?

What felt like a hard workout today with a lot of stretching too. May be me, I'm just feeling a little off after some conflict with dh earlier today. He went to the river for a boat ride with A and then he'll bowl tonight. He wants to build a fire and invite (so far unspecified) friends over tomorrow night. It's been cooler this week but temp will still be around 80 at seven p.m. And he's inviting A and V over tomorrow afternoon for the FSU/AL football game. They may prefer to be on the river. And....my maternal cousins over on Sunday afternoon/evening for which we're grilling burgers. I told him I'm glad I can recuperate on Monday - meaning no plans!

Ugh. Now we remember that there's also dinner on Saturday at A and V's. It's the supper club group that gets together periodically. What a social whirl.

I need to make my salad for this evening so it will be ready later.

My friend and I went for lunch in a city close to Toronto. Traffic going there was fine (less than an hour all highway driving) but getting home wasn't fun even though we left the place just after 2. I needed to stop and get dh a roti at his favourite roti place and then I had to go to Costco for something dh will need before the long weekend is over. Costco and most other places of business will be closed here on Monday and Tuesday is the first day of the new school year. Saturday and Sunday will be crazy in most stores. Thankful to have that behind me. I finally got home at 4:30. Dh and I ate as soon as I came through the door. I got a chicken when I was in that great, big, crazy store.

Dh said it rained here for a couple of hours.

Our green-eyed boy called and he did make the golf team. It's just a list of those who made it - well, only listing the numbers they were each privately assigned, not names. They still don't know who is definitely playing each time and who is rotating on and off, or how many will rotate. It ended up that they had so many entrants - 18 - they decided to have two foursomes instead of only one after all, so there are more spaces.

I got my mending done and posted about that in A, C and N thread.

Mystery, my smart (or possibly average intelligence) watch and I disagree often on whether I got enough sleep. Sometimes I look at the timeline it gives for the night's sleep and don't think it looks like what I remember at all, but it is correct often enough that I do keep looking. Ddolder gave it to me - she wouldn't be without hers. You're right in that what matters seems to be whether you arise with ambition.

Reading and knitting were my rewards & some yt vids. also.

We just got back from a few hours at the fair, and we enjoyed every part of it. DD14 was having so much fun that she begged to stay longer, and DS17 offered to bring her home later. I spoke with one of DD14's teachers who knows her well, and they mentioned that she's doing much better at joining in activities this year. Apparently, she's even volunteering to participate! DD14 is usually an introvert, but it seems like she's becoming more extroverted this year. I'm not sure how to feel about this change, but it seems positive.

My goodness, how I miss them, and constantly wonder how Harmony is doing, especially -- as far as I know, Sher is not absent because of health reasons, is she?
Like you, Harriet, I need to send a card to Harmony. I have asked her daughter to email or write back to me, but have never heard anything from them.

LOL... pondering... in the midst of her insomnia. I told dgs I must be turning into a vampire. I want to sleep all day and stay up all night.
However, tonight, I MUST finish reading my e-library book before it turns into a pumpkin tomorrow. It is so good -- and a little bit scary -- but I've got to find out what is going on!

I'm going to grab the opportunity to try to tug my own sleep schedule back into line - any line. It has been all over the place.

I woke up without an alarm at 9:00 a.m. yesterday and today, but I did not grab the opportunity.

LadyM, I remember working on our senior homecoming float. One of the few times my parents let me stay out till midnight. DH came and helped "supervise," and when I drove home, he followed me home to make sure I got there okay. My dmom was a bit suspicious of him being there, but she said that she appreciated him looking out for me on the road at that hour by myself. I'm so glad to hear your dd14 is doing so well. I know how hard it is to volunteer for things like that.
I also hope y'all get good results from LordM's tests today.
I wish we still had a local fair around here! Our county and the neighboring county have both stopped having the fair each year. In its place, we have an annual tractor pull. I have never been to a tractor pull. smh.

I do not envy you that humidity, Nancy! Ugh. We are enjoying such wonderful weather for a change here. Highs in the mid 80s and it seems MUCH less humid.

Twins, I missed something -- do you have houseguests? You definitely are in a social whirl. (((HUGS))) I'll be cheering on FSU with TwinsDad on Saturday... Sorry, Rose.
I wanted to stay home tomorrow night and watch AU and Baylor, but dgd says she wants to go to our high school game. Yes -- it is very unusual to have a college game on Friday night, and we are not pleased.

Hey -- a funny -- dbil and dsisil are on their way to Waco for the football game. She said they are going to Chip and Joanna Gaines' Magnolia Silo place. She said "Dbil has no clue who they are, but he looked up the 10 best restaurants in Waco and they are #1." So now he's all in. LOL.

Oh my goodness, Cathy -- your post reminded me that I do not want to go to Wmart this weekend. Yuck. And I really do need to get that paint and get finished on that part of my outdoor projects. Maybe I can make that the first thing on my to-do's tomorrow and get there before people get out of work.

Mystery, your playroom sounds like dgrands' room here. Lots of pieces of things that we may not be able to identify. We really need to do some serious decluttering in there.

I also need to be using my new gardening gloves and my little chainsaw and do some work outside -- as well as finishing the paint job. I ran out of paint and must go to Wmart before I can finish the table top. Then all my patio furniture will be black, although some of it still needs a fresh coat. I also would like to paint the door to my garage -- not the door for the cars, just a regular exterior door on the side of the garage. It's a metal door, originally white and now basically rust, and I plan to repaint it brown. At least the next time it rusts, it will be a similar color.
AND I still need to clean and restore my porch swing and rocking chairs. So much to do... such a lazy procrastinator in charge of doing...
(I'm so thankful y'all haven't kicked me out of the village yet.)

Today, ds and I ate lunch with dmom, and ds helped her hang a picture and a small shelf in her laundry room/office. She is doing sooo well, y'all. Her kitchen table and kitchen desk are all clear, and she is working on the larger desk in the office. She said she didn't do her full 10 trips to the mailbox and back today because her shoulder was bothering her, (and she has to use her walker) but she did about half of it. She has men all over her yard putting a new metal roof on her house. The change from a few months ago is amazing.
After I got home with dgd, and later picked up dgs, took them home after ddil got home, read a while, ate supper, fell asleep, and now must finish reading! I am very often very sleepy after eating. I don't know if I should be concerned about that or not.
(DS had to get ready to go play music with a friend on a local tv program, so he and I went together to get dgd, but then he had to go home and change clothes.)
Oh -- and pastor texted me to see if I would teach the Wednesday night adult class again. I told her if they could put up with me, I would lead the discussion -- didn't know if I would call it "teaching" or not, LOL.
