The parade this morning unexpectedly brought me to tears, even though I’ve attended it almost every year of my life. To say I enjoyed it would be an understatement. DBro and DSisIL didn’t ride horses in the parade this year, and I’ll need to check in with him to find out why. They’ve been riding in the grand entry at several recent rodeos, so it might just be a matter of being busy.
The trip to the city was quick and easy. I brought home an experiment after learning that Sam’s sells their pizza crust. The crusts are individually packaged and just need to thaw and rise. The simplicity of it appealed to me, and the cost caught my attention too. One pizza crust was less than $1.30, and I used it to make four half-sheet-sized pizzas, which comes out to about 30 cents a pizza! Anyway, I’m calling this experiment a success. I made two dessert pizzas with apple toppings and two regular pizzas.

LadyM, I've been part of "cake walks" in which we'd be asked to contribute cakes/cupcakes, etc. for good causes, but I don't believe any specific pie auctions. I hope you had fun. Do you find that there is a lot of attention to making them pretty? I'm enjoying experimenting with additions of extra pastry shapes/designs on top of mine and want to explore how to color those for prettiness. Thinking of green leaves, red "fruit" bits for Christmas pies. Predictably, HRH is loving how nicely his new air-fryer heats up individual leftover slices of fruit pies.
Became wearied weeding the front beds. It's done and I'm so glad, but I had to lie down. I'm having an iffy-tummy day that I really didn't expect at all and so the rest of my 5 x 5 took all day.
I did make up my squash-carrot sandwich mixture and have enough for another sandwich of that another day.
We went out and got gasoline in the car.

The pie auction featured 28 entries, with a couple of pies selling for $150 and another couple fetching $500. The rest sold for amounts between these highs and lows. The pies were simple, homemade without elaborate decorations, and their prices were influenced by their bakers. Everyone knows Jeannette's pie is going to be the highest price. All proceeds went to support the school library.
A funny moment today—my friend of about 10 years asked, "Are you from here? You seem to know everyone." I replied, "No, I’m not from here. I’m from a town 5 miles away and have only lived here for 52 years." We both found it hilarious that after five decades, I’m still not considered "from here."

Harriet, I’m glad you’re happy about my teaching the class. Predictably, I immediately started having doubts about my abilities and suitable-ness for this job.
HOWEVER, I must say that my Bible reading for today and my new book by Max Lucado spoke directly to some of my fears and I am currently feeling a great reassurance.
Dgd is here tonight and although she wears me out, it is nice to have her quietly sleeping here beside me. We have clean sheets and a new puffy mattress pad which ds and family gave me for my birthday. High school team and college team got wins tonight. All is well.
Hope you all have a great weekend!

Tomorrow is another day.
