Re: Back to School in Europe Monday @ TDD - C&C
Happy Monday! And happy Labor day to all who have today off!
So, summer is officially over and kids go back to school today. Only one class period today (as it is customary), so no snacks making for me (yet)!
The museum trip yesterday was very nice. Lucy is small and Selam is tiny! There was a long line (almost 1 hour) to see them, eventhough we had set time tickets, but we took turns standing in the line so that one of us was able to take the kids around to see other exhibits. The kids really enjoyed the animal exhibits in the musem, probably a bigger hit with them than the human evolution, though DBD was very interested in the evolution of chimp to human bone structures (hand, skull, foot). We added other errands to the trip (IKEA, as kids' rooms need some changes, and home improvement store for cat food and canning supplies), so by the time we got home, I was exhausted! It didn't help that my foot got stung by a wasp on Saturday and I had a bad reaction that I tried to ignore till I couldn't (I am not allergic, but apparently a bad local reaction with swelling over 4 inches lasting more than 24 hours affect about 5% of people, and it gets worse at the end of summer). Anyway, I am back to having visible toes today, so all is on the mend (it's not fine yet, but getting better and that counts).
Working from home, though how much will I be able to get done, remains to be seen. Tomorrow is back to the usual schedule of four 7:30 to 2pm office days and home office Fridays, so I will be able to get things done after work too.

Re: Back to School in Europe Monday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off. I'm glad you all enjoyed the trip to the museum. And IKEA was a bonus!
Sorry about the he wasp sting - it sounded extremely painful. I'm glad the swelling is finally starting to go down.
This week is back to school week here also, but I think it's only the staff that go into school today/tomorrow. Our local primary school starts for the pupils on Thursday, and the secondary school starts in Wednesday for kids just starting "big school" and Thursday for everyone else. (One year they tried starting the school term on a Friday for some reason, but hardly anyone bothered to turn up just for one day, so they quickly dropped that idea!)
DH is going to the office today, so I need to make the most of no interruptions and do the start of.month financial stuff. I also need to find Jude's vaccination certificate and Fred's insurance paperwork. (The latter is on my phone, but if we need to a direct claim it's easier for the receptionist to look at a piece of A4 paper, rather than struggle with the print on my phone!)
The weather is undecided what it's going not do -we had yet.more rain overnight - but if it turns out dry then I'll like a walk and some garden time. And,.of course, there's lots around the house to keep me busy!

Re: Back to School in Europe Monday @ TDD - C&C
I've had a good session in my garden in between showers. Then came a *very* heavy shower, so I took that as a hint, and retreated indoors. When this does eventually stop, I'll go for a short walk (or maybe longer if the sky looks settled!) so I can say I've been out!

Re: Back to School in Europe Monday @ TDD - C&C
Schools here started last week, but J11yo's private school starts tomorrow after the holiday.
trissie, that is quite some swelling! I hope the sting heals quickly. Ouch! Glad you all enjoyed the museum. I had to look up Selam. I mean in terms of the fossilized person, not the meaning of the word, which I already figured (from Hebrew/ Arabic). Happy back to school!
Glad you got time in your garden, Kitty.
Today is open for me - really, no appointments or anything on the calendar! It's a holiday here, but stores should be open. Weather will be nice - sunny and a high of 77*F. I plan to jog and make progress cleaning the fridge and on writing -- and prep for class tomorrow. And some grocery shopping. I might also start working in dd27's room so we can make it a guest room for dbro + dniece. Dinner will be a low cal fav here, quinoa taco bowls.
Next:
- back exercises
- jog
- s2s and self care
Later:
- some qt
- menu plan and groc. list for the week
- Kroger
- put groceries away
- clean sheets on bed
- laundry darks w d f pa
- laundry lights w d f pa
- laundry sheets? (I have other sheets to put back on the bed, but I like this set.)
- lunch at some point
- payroll: grade HW
- payroll: prep IR D8
- payroll: gradelink week 4
- writing time
- knitting time: focus on the baby sweater
- 30 minutes in dd27's room
- 1 shelf in fridge
- dinner: quinoa taco bowls, green salad
- after dinner clean up
- duolingo (I couldn't load my Spanish lessons last night - strange)
- update health apps
TaDas!
- up; weighed self -- egads, the scale thinks I gained 2 pounds in 3 days

Re: Back to School in Europe Monday @ TDD - C&C
Morning all. We're off here too today. Stores are open. Mostly. Banks and offices and small businesses are closed. Relaxing morning sp far. I'll get up in a bit and do routines. I should look a little closer and pick up some footprints and odds and ends cause if I do that I had it clean the other day.
Probably have breakfast in a while and then a quick run to the store for hot dogs and such. We'll go dig up the potatoes and then I think the plan is a weiner roast with the kids.
So new developments. In the land of the parents. We've had other stresses lately trying to help dad make some decisions. What is next. Well he knows he has to sell the big place. None of us want it. He has decided to by a large motor home that is big enough to live in. Then he can go where it is warmer or visit or such. We tried a little to help him think what that could look like with mom... well at least he bought it before selling the house so dh encouraged him to go for a bit now and try it out for a few days week month? How would it go. Before deciding on the house.
I found out last night from ds 26 he got home from work to find grandpa packing. I don't know where they went for sure. Or when they will come back... oh well. We get a bit of a break.. I hope it does what we want. Either really well or he will discover on his own that it won't work out. He does have a phone. He can be reached...
Tomorrow ds has school. Half day. Intro and shorter classes. Back to the swing Wednesday. Ds is glad. He has this thing he would like a couple more 2 week breaks and not the long summer break. Too long and boring... throw him all off routine . His diet has been bad cause he will help himself to whatever.... bread. Cheese is disappearing like nothing. Now it's hot and dry and he is fighting nose bleeds just like his dad and grandpa... I hope he got a good sleep. Tomorrow is going to be hard if he is off...
Well now you know the goings on in the Ll household... ds is off to school with a designation change from chronic health delay to autism. Parents off adventuring. And a catch up with the kids we haven't seen for a couple weeks.
Priority list
Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Another detail clean?
Laundry
Potatoes
Water garden well
See kids
Make sure ds bag is ready for tomorrow
