Trigonometry (from Ancient Greek τρίγωνον (trígōnon) 'triangle' and μέτρον (métron) 'measure') is a branch of mathematics concerned with relationships between angles and side lengths of triangles. In particular, the trigonometric functions relate the angles of a right triangle with ratios of its side lengths. The field emerged in the Hellenistic world during the 3rd century BC from applications of geometry to astronomical studies. The Greeks focused on the calculation of chords, while mathematicians in India created the earliest-known tables of values for trigonometric ratios (also called trigonometric functions) such as sine.

Throughout history, trigonometry has been applied in areas such as geodesy, surveying, celestial mechanics, and navigation.

Trigonometry is known for its many identities. These trigonometric identities are commonly used for rewriting trigonometrical expressions with the aim to simplify an expression, to find a more useful form of an expression, or to solve an equation.

Thanks for the start, Trissie. Have a good day! And I hope your kids have a good day at school, too. My grandson is taking 4 different advanced math classes at University this semester, needed info for his chosen profession.
FFB, I hope you and your hubby come to a good decision about his schooling/ certificate. Yes, it will cost money and take some time, but it will make the future better in the long run - how much time will it take for the additional future income to make up for the income lost during schooling. And if not choosing the schooling, what will life be like without that extra - besides how much better will he feel about himself when he shows himself able to do that work and enjoy it? (this in in response to a few days ago, I haven't been able to respond much lately as my brother was here and we were busy the whole time.

I'm heading to bed now, as I have to get up early, drive almost 2 hours to meet a df who is hosting lunch and book club. She asked me to be a resource and share information on the topic. Midwives in America at teh time fo the Revolutionary War.

Good morning Trissie and thank you for starting us off with a very interesting article on trigonometry - now I know who to blame for those years of anguish during maths lessons. Those Greek mathematicians evidently had too much time on their hands! I hope you have a good day at work and the DKids enjoy (or at least tolerate! ) their first "proper" day back at school.

Sleep well, Gma! I'm sure you will enthrall the reading group with your paper. I'm glad you had a nice time with Mr VKM.

Helian I hope you feel better today. How many more days of the Doxycycline do you have left? I might be a good idea to take a probiotic for at least a week after you finish to encourage your body to start rebuilding (regrowing?) all your "friendly" digestive bacteria - Ive always found this to be helpful.

L.Anm, I hope your foot and hand are improving.. Did I read correctly and the dog was going for a swim?

Laura, WTG with your potatoes -Im glad you have somewhere suitable to store them. When I grew potatoes I stored them.in.jessiam.bsgs I. The garage, which is build into the side of a hill. So it's cool and dark. I'm glad you were at least partly reassured about your DParents. Maybe this is something your DDad really wants to do while they still can?

Bama, oh the joy of nail clipping! That's something I need to do to our gang.. Fortunately I get a pass for Fred this month, as the vet will be doing his when they do his bloods. :D

Dogged, I'm sorry that Germane is showing signs.of.dementia - you take such great care of her. I know there are various supplements and meds the vet can prescribe for cats, which can help slow the mental decline and improve quality of life, so I'm guessing there may be the same for dogs?

I never made it back yesterday, but I did get upstairs clean and reasonably tidy, and the bathroom curtains finally rehung! And I got my daylight box set up so I can use it this morning (it's also a good excuse to have an extra 30 minutes in bed  ) I'm starting earlier than usual, but the morning GS are definitely a lot darker now, and, if course, the rain makes it darker still.

Today DH is WFH. I need to be more organised as this choral group restarts tonight.agter.the long summer break, so we need to have supper earlier. On the plus side, as I'll have an evening to myself, it's time to attend to my neglected paperwork, one piece at a time!

Gma, I'm glad that your days are including enjoyable things for you, like spending time with Mr. VKM and giving a lecture to a book club. What a bonus you will be for them!

It past my bedtime, helia, because I read your post over and over trying to figure out how skipping Duolingo would make your hair stick out. [face palm]

Funny you should say that, Bama. Something that has just arrived for me to try out is a hanging harness, so I can hang Germane from the shower rod and have two hands free to clip her toenails. It's worth a try .

Thank you for starting us off, trissie, and for the reminder about trigonometry.

Woo hoo on getting to skip Freddie's nails this month, Kittykatt, though the price will be a trip to the vet with Freddie. Fair trade-off?

The only other useful thing that I have done is to fill the small slow cooker and give Germane her meds. I'm heading to bed for now. Have a great day!

Sleep well, Dogged! I'm having problems visualising a hanging harness - I'm having mental picture of poor little Germane spinning round in the air with her little legs dangling. I'm guessing you've tried muzzling her, or I would suggest asking the groomer if they would do it for you? Freddie is having bloods done this month, under sedation , hence why the vet is so happy to cut his nails for me at the same time! . They don't actually charge any extra for the nail clip, (although I'll get a hefty bill for his bloods, for Petplan to pay!) but there is No Way anyone can get near him when he's awake to do anything. (Sigh!)

We are having "heavy showers " this morning, but I have managed to take Fred out, take the rubbish down to the bins, have a quick run round my tiny front garden and go for a short walk between various showers. I still need to empty the canisters on the hoovers, but I'm waiting for the current (very long) shower to stop! :D

I knew it was trissie when I read "Trigonometry Tuesday". :) Yes, that brings back memories of middle school or early high school (I can't remember which year!) math. Have a great day!
Gma, have fun at the book club! I bet your info sharing will be interesting and chock full of good info. You were very diligent in preparing for it.
Kitty, I'm eating my daily yogurt with active cultures. Maybe that is helping? What is "morning GS"? Hoping the rain will ease so you can get outside at some point.
LOL Doggedly! I probably did not write clearly enough. I've never heard of a hanging harness. I'm curious if it works.

Last night after dinner, I got sheets on the bed, folded and put away the light load, got all the admin work done for class, reserved a bnb for my trip to IL, and ordered a refill of my script - we'll see if there's a problem. There was last time.

Today, the KS2J get together has been moved to the afternoon at a library branch. I'll go over after work. So, I'll be out and about from about 10:45 a.m. - 4pm-ish. Then, I'm helping watch Fable at 6-7 pm. Dinner will be after that - but we're pulling from the freezer tonight: olive chicken and a little taco meat. Those 2 don't really go together, but the chicken wasn't quite enough for a meal for 2 of us - and neither is the taco meat, so the solution is to combine the two. LOL! We'll eat it with rice and a veggie, TBD.

Next:
- boil egg and take a.m. med
- payroll: prep IR D8
- some qt

Later:
- payroll: make practice test?
- make the bed
- reclaim the kitchen
- s2s and self care - didn't do this last night as I would have gone to sleep with wet hair
- squeegee and wipe down shower

- 1 - 1:40 payroll: teacher meeting

- can I get in a walk?
- WF: veggies (I can walk to WF!)
- make more olive sauce
- darks: w d f pa
- 6-7 watch Fable
- dinner: olive chicken, taco meat, rice, sauces, veggie
- after dinner clean up
- garbage and recycling
- duolingo
- update health apps
- knitting or reading?

TaDas!
- up; weighed self - slightly down but overall much higher
- coffee
- email deletions + weather website - highs around 80 for the next 2 days, and then they plummet 10-20 degrees. I think this is the last hurrah of summer weather here.
