Hi all. Home from work. I took an hour off at the end of my shift for hair appointment for me and ds. Much better.
School was ok today I think. Should be not too bad with English and math and wood shop and a grade 10 only career planning course. Hopefully that one helps cause I don't have a lot of faith in how useful it will be.
This is the first day of the summer that we have been really socked in with smoke. I am trying to decide when to take Casper for a walk. I think I'm going to go put the meat on for chili and water stuff outside. Make supper first and then walk should do laundry.
I'm thinking. I don't have anything on the agenda tomorrow. Send ds off to school and a whole day to myself? Unless dad calls. I think they were going to come back today. I'm thinking he's going to be just resting and mom spending most of the day laying down. I have stuff to do in my house. Some outside ideas. We'll see. A whole day to myself sounds good .

Hi Peaches! Doggedly, it looks like you've gotten a lot done. And now I want to check out that murder mystery show. . .
So glad you get an open day tomorrow, Lauralind!
I hope that will help dbro, Bama, but I'm not sure. I think he wants relationships and belonging but doesn't know how to go about it. He's a serious loner, no IRL friends. Never heard of the Unexplained but that does souns aggravating -- to leave it unexplained.

yummm, trissie, both plum butter and apricot jam! Your morning toast will be delicious. And perhaps stuffed french toast once in a while too? Also good on oatmeal.
doggedly, I'm sure your little Maltese likes going out for a carry when she is just not strong enough to go for a walk. You are so good to her.
helian, how often does your bro come to see mother? I'm sorry he just doesn't konw how to interact with the family, but have no suggestions.
laurlind, a day completely open! WOW, that just is so rare! GLad you like your haircut.
Bama, I don't konw what the Unexplained is.
L.ann, how is little bit feeling about school?
kittykatt, I hope you have some sunshine, as you enjoy your outside gardening
hi peaches
I'm home from Book Club. What a fun day I had - away from home. We had lunch at teh hostess's country club, plus she insisted we have dessert. I had lemon pie with a graham cracker crust, A firmer filling than lemon pudding, plus yummy whipped cream on top. I have half a sandwich leftover for lunch tomorrow, plus sweet potato fries.
Why I am not/ was not/ a teacher: My presentation on the book I read was a big hit. But I worked most of 9 hours to plan my presentation, which I hoped to be 20 minutes but I think turned out closer to 30, so a little too long, But to spend 9 hours to "teach" 30 minutes is not sustainable for a job! The discussion surrounding it was fabulous, and everyone very much enjoyed it. They were happy to know that the main character of teh mystery novel was a real person, and that the author had a great imagination. The hostess then led the discussion of the book that was the actual topic of the day. I met 10 new people. They invited me to join their group, although they are in a different town. And they meet in homes. I have a long ways to go befroe I can have anyone come to my home.
The NH called me about mother during the meeting - they were concerned because she was so deeply asleep in an afternoon nap. They are very attentive, but can they just chill a bit and let someone sleep? I stopped to see her on my way home, and she was fine - just easily tired. She's 101, has a low hemoglobin, and I think my brother and I wore her out while he was here.
Driving home, I decided that I need to start diligently, first on my LR, then the DR table, then the K, then the K table, while keeping the bathroom usable. Then my house will be at least minimally acceptable, if something happens to my 101yo mother and people start coming to call.
So, I'm home now, have ahd a cup of tea, watched a mystery on TV while working teh end threads into a crochet project (a step in cleaning/ decluttering the LR)
and have discovered that I left my phone at the NH. Well, I guess that means I can't waste any time playing games on it . I haven't doen much for steps today - too much time in the car and sitting for lunch and book club - I went outside and was going to go for a walk - but got to the end of the driveway and decided that it was just too dark out!
So now I'm going to put on a DVD of exercise so I can pat myself on the back for doing soemthing healthy.
Tuesday
Cleaned up after dog
Gave Germane her Benedryl
Put on a pot of coffee
Put on a pot of rice
Decluttered one kitchen cupboard. Found Germane’s Apoquel that I had lost.
Checked the cans and bottles on the counter and put the dry in the recycling can
FACEd Finances: checked/paid all bills
Put away the dry dishes
Checked the size of the harness: looks good
Washed the dishes
Wiped down accessible surfaces
Showered/washed hair
Cleaned up after dog
Apoquel for Germane
Washed Germane’s eyes out
More treats for Germane
I'll pat you on the back for doing something healthy, Gma! That book club sounds really nice. And a nice break for you, despite the prep time.
The way that teaching used to work was that teachers taught the same subjects the same way (more or less) year after year, so early in their careers they spent a lot of time writing their courses, but it got easier as they went along, as courses were already written. I remember my friend's frustration when the govt announced changes to the school year and the courses, but didn't give the teacher the new requirements until school had already started so they couldn't spend the summer writing the new course. Plus the school kept changing her subject year after year so she never got to the point where she could catch her breath.
Thanks, helia. I do recommend that show. It's a BBC production.
WTG on all that you got done.
WTG, Peaches
I hope that you get your day to yourself, Lauralind. It will do you good!
It's just as well that you can't knit, Bama. A whisker hat sounds as uncomfortable as a hair shirt.
