Teide, or Mount Teide, (Spanish: El Teide, Pico del Teide) is a volcano on Tenerife in the Canary Islands. Its summit (at 3,715 m (12,188 ft)) is the highest point in the Canary Islands and the highest point above sea level in the islands of the Atlantic. If measured from the ocean floor, its height of 7,500 m (24,600 ft) makes Teide the third-highest volcano in the world; UNESCO and NASA rank it as Earth's third-tallest volcanic structure. Teide's elevation above sea level makes Tenerife the tenth highest island in the world.

Teide started forming 170,000 years ago due to volcanic activity following a catastrophic landslide. Teide's base is situated in Las Cañadas crater (the remains of an older, eroded, extinct volcano) at a height of around 2,190 m (7,190 ft) above sea level. Teide is an active volcano: its most recent eruption occurred in late 1909 from the El Chinyero vent on the northwestern Santiago rift. The United Nations Committee for Disaster Mitigation designated Teide a Decade Volcano because of its history of destructive eruptions and its proximity to several large towns, of which the closest are Garachico, Icod de los Vinos and Puerto de la Cruz. Teide, Pico Viejo and Montaña Blanca form the Central Volcanic Complex of Tenerife.

The volcano and its surroundings make up Teide National Park, which has an area of 18,900 hectares (47,000 acres) and was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2007. Teide is the most visited natural wonder of Spain, the most visited national park in Spain and, by 2015, the eighth most visited in the world, with some 3 million visitors yearly. In 2016, it was visited by 4,079,823 visitors and tourists, reaching a historical record. Teide Observatory, a major international astronomical observatory, is located on the slopes of the mountain. In addition, the volcano has become an establishing shot in films, television series and programs set on the island of Tenerife

I've managed to fit everything in the cupboard -It needs a good sort out and tidy.

Back from the vet. All's well, Jude was a little angel. We saw the vet who usually treats Freddie, and he commented it was a novelty to actually be able to examine one of my cats! As a bonus, Jude has actually lost 20g from last week, so she goes down a category for her flea control .

Yay for a peaceful vet visit, kittykatt. Spotting smashed snakes and frogs is a regular walk activity, Dogged. This was a beautiful green snake. Instead of being hit by a car it must have been dropped by a bird or killed by another predator. Usually it is a baby copperhead or black snake.

I'm up but feeling sleepy, not sleeping super well these nights. But the sun is shining and it's going to be another gorgeous day! High of 76*F.

Today will be a bit of a rinse and repeat from yesterday. I need to revisit the jog and get more groceries. I will have a few hours of payroll today: pick up/ drop off my books, PD meetings 1-3ish, and then subbing for an online class 4:30 - 5:30. I need to get my syllabus done and my class Telegram group together also; finishing prep for class tomorrow would also be good - but not sure it's feasible. We are hosting Tuesday dinner, but I'm not sure how many are coming. I think it will be small.

Last night, dh strongly recommended not traveling to Seattle this weekend. He thinks I might just fret over my mom (I think I would) and things can change quickly. Though the social worker doesn't expect her to go this weekend, things can change quickly. Later in the evening, we had a nice zoom conversation with Ds + F. They're very understanding of my not making it to the baby shower. F and baby I seem to be doing well! They're considering coming for the funeral whenever that happens. I told them there's no pressure, and they should do whatever is best for them. Ds got an unexpected promotion at work, so that's nice for him! He's now a senior engineer at Microsoft.

Lann you definitely have a different climate from here.

Helian I know that must be a really tough decision. I feel for you. Baby will definitely bring a bright spot when she comes. Hopefully you will be able to go down soon after the birth but I can see not wanting to go far from mom.

I have accumulation of garden in my house. Potato bins. Brought some apples home from dad's tree. A couple pepper plants. And then last night before bed I decided to bring my tomato pots in. It was predicting pretty cold and I didn't want frost. What I should do is create a couple spots for the ones that will keep growing and pick the red ones. Then I can take the rest back out. My tumbler is full of tomatoes. The romas are being slow. Early gir has a few. Then I have a cherry tomato that is starting but full of blooms. And a big Brandywine. It has a couple ripe ones and is needing to keep making flowers. I need more growing season. Imagine what it would have done without the set back of being eaten. And staying good in the big greenhouse. Lol. But they did great straight in full sun outside.

I think I'm going to go pick them off. Rearrange a bit and make room. Then just go do early shift.

And remind ds. He was thinking of trying something different this fall. Cross country running. That would be so good for his endurance though hard maybe. But he has to go sign up this morning I think.
