Quick ci but need to keep going and can't be social yet. I just had one Prof Dev meeting this afternoon, not 2. I need to go to WF now to get ingredients for dinner tonight.
Phone call from hospice - what I already knew - Mom is near the time of needing to be made comfortable for the end but not there yet. They'll be in touch with the NH and me.
I'm not going to change my mind about going to the baby shower. I'm anticipating no issue with the birth which is more than 6 weeks out, Oct. 24. We haven't bought those tickets yet.
I think my tickets for this week are non-refundable or change-able but I'll need to look into that. Plus, I need to communicate with the trustee and funeral homes -- but not today. I'm currently racing to get things done today that need to be done today.
Next:

Helia, post and go is a good thing some days. Future baby visits are a very good thing.
Dogged, I’ll have to look up Mike Oldfield today.
Trissie, we never had to make a volcano. My girls must have picked a different project for that assignment. I do remember seeing others’ volcanoes on display.
LAnn, it’s nice to share the neighborhood. We had a rattlesnake in the chicken yard one time just strolling around amongst the chickens and they all ignored each other. I panicked but couldn’t do anything but watch. By the time dh got home he was long gone thank goodness. We’ve had turtles in the yard but I haven’t seen one in a long time.
Done:
Bible
Weigh
Water

Eat something
Pet chores - feed, water, litter
Dremel dogs nails - got both front paws on both dogs but it wasn’t easy. Nails are looking nicer though.
Dust
Spot clean floors
Vacuum
Went through moms recipe boxes
Load and run dw
Shine sink
Brought in packages delivered for dh
Do:
Log meal
Start load of laundry
Tidy/declutter kitchen, dining room, laundry room for a few minutes each

Re: Teide Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
Hello, everyone!
Trissie, the "in thing" amongst kids here was slime (making it as well as playing with it -when DF CW went through G13yo's phone history, it featured questions like, "how to get slime out of carpet?) but recently in it seems to have been overtaken by making water bombs ( our long hot summer was very useful here, as G and L could be sent outside to make these!).
Bama, I think Freddie broke the mould when he was made. I can't imagine another cat like him!
L.Ann our only venomous snake is the adder. I'm very glad we don't have anything like Copperheads!
Congratulations to your DD, Helia! So good that DH is being supportive at this difficult time for you.
Dogged, it was very a refreshing change today not having to apologise for my cat every few minutes!
Laura, your tomatoes have certainly done well this year!
Hi, Peaches!
I managed to get more clearing up done in my garden today, and cut down some hollyhocks and pruned another rose. I made it back I side before the rain started (it came down in stairs rods) and the sitting room is now clean and tidy. I even managed to deal with a little paperwork this evening, after piling onto the bed with all the cars for a snuggle session!

(((helia and dfamily)))
Bama, I think that there is one or two species of venomous snake in Ontario, but they are so rare that we tend to view snakes more as you would see frogs or toads. I worked with a lady from Nigere who was terrified of them. She explained that where she was from, snakes could drop on you from the trees as you walked under them. I did reassure her that ours stay on the ground and don't kill you, but I don't think that either of us shifted our attitudes to snakes much.
Hi, Peaches
That's great to make it back in before the skies opened, Kittykatt, and to get time in your garden before then.
(And on everything you got done.)
I read these posts earlier, answering them in my head, and then went on a reddit binge. Imagine my surprise when I came back and found that my thoughts had not been transcribed and posted here! Where is Elon Musk's chip in the head when you need it?
Time to take Germane out for a walk to the animal hospital to stock up on her food.

Re: Teide Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
How’s it going, folks?
Dogged, I’ll have to pass on the snakes. What kind of varmints do you have or is it too cold for any? I guess it’s what you’re used to? Dd had to live near Miami for a year and stepped on an iguana. Gives me shivers. I couldn’t think of the word “iguana” so searched Miami creatures and apparently they have an alien too. Some traveler left pythons in Florida so there’s that. I’m good with our wildlife thank you very much.
Kittykatt, I see lots of smiley faces on that list. We tried slime but I didn’t like the feel of it.
Done:
Bible
Weigh
Water

Eat breakfast, lunch
Pet chores - feed, water, litter
Dremel dogs nails - got both front paws on both dogs but it wasn’t easy. Nails are looking nicer though.
Dust
Spot clean floors
Vacuum
Went through moms recipe boxes
Load and run dw
Shine sink
Brought in packages delivered for dh
Log meals
Start load of laundry - mop done, 2 chair covers going now
Tidy/declutter ~
*kitchen cooked cabbage casserole and mixed greens, chicken thawing, tossed empty cheese stick box and added cheese sticks to grocery list, dusted fake figs and put in cloche, tidied my snack area, decluttered piece of cake in my belly…
*dining room went through some cookbooks, duplicate in box to go to Hollywood along with some other items that need to go there, wrote out recipe from the a sweet older lady in the 1980s that is fading, recipe boxes put on shelf, …
*laundry room tidied shelf and sink area some
Dh just walked in so taking a break.

Re: Teide Tuesday @ TDD - C&C
We get black bears from time to time, Bama. They swim across the river from Gatineau Park. They aren't harmful. You could provoke one into attacking you, if you really wanted to, and that wouldn't end well for you, but mostly they just want to eat your garbage and maybe your garden. I'm much too far south for polar bears, who are fast, stealthy and will eat you, and too far east for grizzly bears who have a similar attitude. We get raccoons, squirrels, crows and other birds, skunks and lots of deer. Very occasionally a young moose. Oh, and more and more we have coyotes right in town, so we have to keep a better eye on small dogs and cats. The sorts of beasts who annoy us are mosquitoes, mice and rats. Nothing exotic, I'm afraid.
Go, Peaches!
Germane and I walked to the animal hospital and bought two flats of food. Germane is more confused and gets more startled by the traffic on the main road, so it was mostly a carry. We stopped at the food truck on the way home, and I bought an aloo tikka burger. It is delicious! I wasn't sure if they would close down in September, so am happy to still see them there. The animal hospital is only a block away, but somehow it feels like a big outing to us both. Germane is sleeping it off in the bathroom.
