The crown took 10 minutes. They were just putting on the permanent one and the dentist was surprised at how perfectly it fit. The dog ate something that upset his stomach so he has been in and out a gazillion times. Since it has rained all day the kitchen and dining room are like a skating rink.

Bama and I can sympathize, L.Ann. That's awesome about the crown. Mine were properly fitted too. The only impediment is that when the dentist asked me to bite down, I kept feeling one tooth stopping me. Eventually we realized that it was a different tooth that was stopping my bite, LOL.

I am happy to report that Germane is alert, using her pee pad properly and even tracking her plate as I set it down. It's the opposite of sundowning. I wonder if exercise is helping her to get out of her confusion, or if she was already up long enough to have gotten over it before we walked.

That's some impressive multitasking, Bama!

Anti-heartworm etc pill and treats for Germane. In the future, will have to cut it in 4 first.

Cheers for quick dental work, LAnn. My mother was a dental technician so thank them for making that perfect fit. Idk if I can totally sympathize, Doggedly, as mine usually don’t make it out lol. But yeah, a sick pet is no good.

I saw Trissie's question re: funeral timing and thought I'd give my two cents' worth --

When dh passed away, on a Friday evening, we made arrangements Saturday morning. Normally, I would have expected the funeral to be Sunday in that case, or that we would have had visitation on Sunday night and the funeral Monday. HOWEVER, we no longer have a local newspaper on Sunday OR Monday, and I very strongly wanted the obituary to be in the paper before the service. So, his funeral and visitation were on Tuesday. I'm sure there were some who did not actually read their papers until the service was over that day, but at least I got it in the paper. My dh retired from coaching and teaching after 25 years, and I just felt it was important that those who wanted to pay their respects have a chance to.

OTOH, my ddad passed away in Texas, approx. 10 hours away from home. (He was at a well-know cancer clinic at the time.) Because of the logistics of getting his body back here, his funeral was 6 days later. He passed away early on Tuesday morning, and the funeral was the following Monday. We were told his body might arrive as early as Friday, but dmom did not want to plan a funeral and then have him not be here -- on a side note, we had always said my dad would probably be late for his own funeral -- he was definitely time-challenged in his lifetime. Sunday was Mother's Day, and she did not want to have the funeral on that day, so Monday it was -- visitation and funeral all at the same time.

In my area, it used to be that I'd say 90% of the time, people had visitation the night before the funeral, but now it seems that most people do this all at once. When I was a child, most people brought the bodies home -- or to one of their adult children's houses -- for visitation before a funeral. I remember 3 great-grandparents, and all their bodies were brought to my grandparents' houses. (That led to some all-night visitors, at a time when I am sure the family was exhausted!) Today, I can't remember the last time I knew of a visitation being held in a home; everyone uses the funeral home, and more and more, the funerals are held at the funeral home rather than the church. We had dh and my dad's funerals at the church, and one of my grandparents', but the other three were at the funeral home.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure but I think these customs are interesting, and I love to hear how different people do things.

One more bit of custom that I am not familiar with --
My ddil is from a more northern state, while we live in the Deep South. Here, if there is an open casket at the visitation, the family will exit the sanctuary before the funeral, while the staff closes the casket. My late dmil remembered funerals having open caskets during the actual service, and as a child, this was somewhat traumatic to her.
DDIL strongly feels that the casket SHOULD remain open during the entire service. I told her hopefully, I will not be there for her service.
