Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
Simone Signoret (born Simone Henriette Charlotte Kaminker; 25 March 1921 – 30 September 1985) was a French actress. She received various accolades, including an Academy Award, three BAFTA Awards, a César Award, a Primetime Emmy Award, and the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, in addition to nominations for two Golden Globe Awards.
Signoret's sensual features and earthy nature led to type-casting and she was often seen in roles as a prostitute. She won considerable attention in La Ronde (1950), a film which was banned briefly in New York City as immoral. She won further acclaim, including an acting award from the British Film Academy, for her portrayal of another prostitute, Amélie Élie, in Jacques Becker's Casque d'or (1951), which in France became a signature role for her. She appeared in many French films during the 1950s, including Thérèse Raquin (1953), directed by Marcel Carné,bLes Diaboliques (1954),band The Crucible (Les Sorcières de Salem; 1956), based on Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
In 1958, Signoret acted in the English independent film Room at the Top (1959), and her performance won numerous awards, including the Best Female Performance Prize at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Actress. She was offered films in Hollywood, but for the next few years worked in Europe—for example, with Laurence Olivier in Term of Trial (1962). She earned another Oscar nomination for her work on Ship of Fools (1965); was part of a cast of international stars recreating the liberation of Paris in Paramount's epic Is Paris Burning?; then, after working with Sidney Lumet on The Deadly Affair and The Sea Gull, she returned permanently to France in 1969.

◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
thanks trissie for the start and another French actress. You make me want to have a look at the Chernobyl series. I think you mentioned it before. The NCIS I remember you mentioning it several times ! Good luck with those apples, I can understand that you want to get done with them. Many people I think would like free apples if you can donate them ? Here in Brittany there are a few weekends where you can bring your apples in specific spots and bring back the juice, sometimes packaged in bottles or bags.
helian (( )) thinking of you as you journey through grief and also the process of sorting through her belongings.
Bama sorry to read about your DH's health. (( )) This must not be easy, for either of you.
Greetings to all who will follow.
Sunny Sunday morning. DS9 is up, DS7 is still in bed. No real plans. Someone will probably come to pick up the bed rail we are donating. I could get a few euros for it but no time to clean it, so... And I still need to work a bit on my resume before I send it.
Also I need to have many things ready for the upcoming week as MrNG is starting his training, and he will be in another city Tuesday-Wednesday and probably sleep there (it's almost 2 hours away) I will have to walk the kids to school, I need to negotiate with boss to arrive later but leave at the same time -> shorten my lunch break, not sure she will be ok (just for the pleasure of saying no) and not happy about having to ask a favour". Anyway, I have three very full days ahead.
TADAs
up, read news, quick cuop
tea and bfast and a few minutes in the sunlight
heard rifle sounds - it's the opening day of the hunting season - no safe hiking for months

Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, Trissie and FFB!
I'm currently at the emergency vets with Matilda, who has cystitis. We spend a lot of yesterday at the vet with her, and she's still no better this morning despite taking her medication,
but I did manage to obtain a "sample" late last night, so hopefully that will reveal something useful . She also had a slightly upset tummy, but that seems to be normal this morning (sorry if TMI!). But she's crying and on and off the litter tray every few minutes, so something's obviously not right . I'm just grateful that we have 24/7 vet care and also for very good pet insurance!!!

Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
Hoping it's gonna be easily treatable, kittykatt! DH was at the vet with our cat too - she has an infected spot on her cheek.
Frenchie, I definitely recommend Chernobyl from HBO - it has wide critical acclaim and it's done in a clever way as to be educational even to people who know zilch about nuclear physics and power plants. Re the apples - the ones that are top quality are not much of a problem, those will be stored for winter. Problem is the fallen apples (which are bruised) and apples that were damaged by birds or insects. Lot of times, you're gonna have a nice big apple with that one bite spot - perfectly fine to eat or process now, but it will go rotten within a week or two!
It's gonna be an apple day again. And homework - I let the kids have fun yesterday, but there's homework and projects to be done. Next week is another week from hell with long afternoon meetings. And DtD Terri is complaining about her hand - a friend fell on her at school and Terri's little finger is still tender and swollen, so I need to squeeze in a hospital visit and an X-ray for her. Tomorrow early morning? I have an online training from 9:30, but it will be recorded in case I miss the beginning. The trauma ambulance opens at 7 o'clock sharp (they of course operate around the clock, but you get a mean look if you come outside of regular hours with something you've had for a couple days). DH's gone to the cottage again to get some work done, so it'll be just me till the evening!

Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
Good morning, all. Thank you for starting us off, trissie. I hope that Terri's finger is not broken, and that the doctor can quickly relieve her.
I hope that your boss is more cooperative than she usually is, FrenchFly.
Kittykatt, I hope that the vet is able to relieve Matilda quickly. I remember having to give my old cat Sashi tiny vitamin C tablets for that.
I think that I am ready to go back to sleep. Germane has had me up a couple of times, but is now sleeping peacefully.

Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
kittykatt, poor Matilda. Sorry about the emergency. I hope she's on the mend soon.
trissie I wouldn't mind a neighbour giving me apples with spots or bruises saying "you need to do something with them today". well, on a Sunday that would be ok
not on a Monday evening. About your DtD, is there a way to go to emergencies on a Sunday ? I suppose you would have to wait a long time, her not being at immediate risk, but still it's easier to organize than on a weekday. Good luck with that extra worry in your mind. Thanks for the Chernobyl advice.
Hi L.Ann, have a good time at the beach!
Sleep well Doggedly !
Just finished some mending that had been waiting for awhile. Ds7 just started some loud music, with an okay from MrNG of course, so I guess I can't finish listening to the video I had started while mending.
And this message has been staying for awhile, now we have had lunch. MrNG is having a short nap as usual. I'm trying to decide what could make me feel good - instead of staying indoors thinking about how my weekends aren't relaxing enough and absurdly trying to find solutions in youtube videos...
TADAs
morning stuff
some mending
lunch prepped by MrNG, cleanup -mostly by mrNG
looked for more videos, didn't find what I wanted
TODO
get dressed
(yes it's 2.30pm)
get some sunlight, fresh air, movement...
maybe journal for awhile ?

Re: Simone Signoret Sunday @ TDD - C&C
trissie, I'm only in season 1 of NCIS.
Their technology is really old! LOL! But I enjoy the quirky characters. I'll look for the Chernobyl documentary; sounds interesting. My chem and biology backgrounds were (past tense - SO long ago!!) decent as I started out university pre-vet. My physics - not so much, nothing past hs physics, mechanics. You're amazing processing all those apples!! --Oh no on Terri's finger!! I hope it's nothing too serious.
Poor Matilda, Kitty. I hope the emergency vet is helpful.
Safe travels L Ann! Have a wonderful week at the beach!!
Sleep well and we'll see you soon, Doggedly.
FFB, were you able to find an activity to help you feel good? Being outside always lifts my spirit a little, but I really enjoy the outdoors.
Bama, I didn't realize your dh had a Parkinson's diagnosis. That's what my mom had, maybe another sort of dementia as well - but not sure. ((HUGS)) You're amazing taking care of him!! I hope the meds help him. I'm glad your dd broke it off with that guy. *sheesh*
Today, we're going to M's church (and the Cs' church when they can go). Our ex-pastor is a guest preacher there today! We want to go hear him; he is a gifted preacher, with a doctorate in something Old Testament. Their church meets at 1:30, which means I have an open morning - but a more scheduled afternoon.
Other things today: maybe another jog? Start on payroll prep since I'm being observed tomorrow. Start on the slideshow for my mom's funeral. Finish unloading my car and start washing my mom's things that we are going to give away. Dd29 is smoking ribs for all of us for dinner tonight. She will also have s'mores. After all the sweets I ate last night, I can't indulge again, so I'll make a pact with myself. One marshmallow.
It is gray with a decent chance of rain this morning. I might jog this afternoon.
