I have entered the "running around like a chicken with my head chopped off" stage of packing. Germane is teetering on a bout of irregularity, not quite enough to cancel the drive (I think) but going more often and not in a state that we would choose for an 8-hour drive. Making extra stops would be more attractive if we had left earlier. It's not raining, so I think I'll take her down with the first load and then walk her to see what that leads to. I have renewed the parking pass for the rental car for an extra day to take that pressure off of me.

Helia, I'm glad the service went well - it sounded a very special time. I have visited C for most days while her DD (my DF PL)is on holiday - she returns tomorrow, probably late afternoon.. The other days, her DS has visited her, or her cleaning lady, or another friend.

Laura, the house sounds perfect for DS, DDIL, little J, ... and anyone else who comes along!

Dogged, I hope Germane feels better soon. I totally understand not wanting to travel when she isnt well.

It's been a productive day. I had some time in .y garden and planted the rest of the pansies and the free bag of bulbs. I cleaned the patio doors and also flushed the drainage soles, piled the hinges and greased the contact points, so that's a good job done. Still no work on any emails, but I went off list and did some more spring cleaning /decluttering in the sitting room - I've brushed more walls and washed paintwork, taken down the curtains and washed them, polished the curtain rod, cleaned out the sideboard and TV unit, taken everything off the bookcase and polished the clock, DH'S lamp and the wooden bowl on the sideboard and all my wooden cats on the bookcase.

Hi, all. I just couldn't get my act together today. I was still doing last minute packing and realized that I had been on my feet so much that my legs weren't going to cope with an 8 hour drive. I ended up calling my db to see if he would be disappointed if I drive up tomorrow instead of today, and he understood. So we had a phone visit and then I called the hotel to let them know that I'll be arriving tomorrow instead. So now I can complete packing in a more relaxed and orderly fashion.

This morning, we were out of the bnb around 9:20 so a little later than we had planned. The kids were out too and all headed their respective directions - ds and F to Chicago to catch their flight and the girls drove back to MI. Dh and I went to friends' home to enjoy breakfast and chatting with each other. It was so good to see them. Our drive home was pretty uneventful.

We unloaded the car, pulled some white chicken chili from the freezer and made a simple meal. My pants are tight; I think all the sweets I ate while traveling are coming home to roost - so to speak.

We decided to come home a day early since it wasn’t a great beach day. We had a leisurely drive home and everything is unpacked.
