Re: South Downs National Park Sunday
kittykatt, AI has also been known to fabulate non-existing legal provisions and judicial decisions, plus, there's things that are so context-specific, that a general answer will be unusable (an example from my field - "are anti-money laundering policies mandatory for insurance companies?" - well, yes and no, because non-life insurance companies do not need them, and life insurance companies do, so unless you know to ask "are AML policies mandatory for life insurance companies", you are not going to get a correct answer, and you won't know to ask unless you already know there is a difference)
Frenchie, I so know what you mean! Balance is hard, and I feel so discouraged when things are unorderly and then I tend to hide in front of the computer and things get even worse, and if I somehow make myself work till late and things are actually nice, I get too little sleep and don't have the energy to keep the progress the next day.

Re: South Downs National Park Sunday
I have not been to that park, Kitty. Interesting - it is so new!! Enjoy the last hours before dh comes home.
So glad you got more sleep last night, trissie. I hope DBD feels better soon.
FFB, that's such an interesting use of AI. I think getting enough sleep is underrated; when I get enough sleep, everything else seems more possible/ less dire. I'm more cheerful and optimistic and able to work hard.
Have fun at the tractor parade, L Ann! I'm looking forward to hearing what it was like.
AI - We have similar problems with students using AI in their writing - but it's very easy to spot and not great writing.
I wish students knew that. Actually, with advanced students, we have had them compare AI writing with student writing so they can see the difference for themselves. That's a good lesson. I have one student now who I think is using AI to add more "information" to some of her ideas. . . However, dh and I both use AI successfully for simple mundane tasks. For me, I use it in exam prep. If I need more Qs, I can input a text, tell AI the CEFR level of the English I'm working with, and it will give me some pretty good appropriate level questions. Of course, I tweak them. Dh uses it for those things he needs to do that he finds irksome and that don't require expertise, like writing the first draft of recommendation letters for students. He can input some specifics about the student and then tweak the letter after AI writes it.
I got home form CG1 at 9:45. I then started the jigsaw puzzle M got me -- big mistake.
I was finally able to tear myself away at midnight. This meant I did not wake up early to jog. High today of 85*
I will not jog after church (this afternoon) because it will already be in the 80s.

Re: South Downs National Park Sunday
Morning all. Yup I am another one who struggles with balance. Keeping up with stuff is hard when you work in don't even work full time and I always wish my house looked better. But then I'm too tired to bother with cleaning up supper...
I think I can see clutter but then when I'm trying to get rid of it stuff goes invisible... getting help from the kids does help once they learn how. Doesn't work to make them clean their room at not show them how. Ds is funny. He knows how to clean the kitchen and tries to tell me he knows how to not explode it while cooking. He also knows how to work right over another mess... and I am a terrible role model.
I used to love flylady zones and cleaning as you go. Sink full of soapy water and put things back when done. And one thing at a time... s & s quick every day. Cleaning the shower as you use it. One load of laundry all the way to put away.... the principal works wonders. But she did also focus on taking care of you. Enough sleep. Eat right. And dress like you care every day. That one made a huge difference.
That said I did none of that yesterday morning. Ds was making supper while I swept the floors... we did try to keep the kitchen in control while baking but the island is still extremely cluttered. Sidetracked is my middle name... plus life and interruption by other...
I will try and do my routine now and a soak. And then it's music prep time. That's a lot of pressure off of me now too. She picks songs. I just have to find my copies and practice them a little. No finding copies and trying to organize a big team and wonder how many are coming every week.. I think I need that break for a while.
Priority list
Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Vacuum
Organize craft room
Paint shelving
Dump flower pots
Blanch kale
Take finished plants etc out of garden
Put away pots etc
Investigate flower bed maybe I will just move stuff from big one earlier spring
Plant those tulips
Church and music
Band tonight?
Today's tada list
Soak in tub instead of shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry
Tidy laundry room and master bedroom some
General straighten a few things
Empty and reload dw
Finish tidying kitchen all the way
Work on songs a little
Finish getting ready for church

Re: South Downs National Park Sunday
The tractor event is a low key parade in the small town. It will be a nice time outside on a beautiful day looking at many old tractors often driven by kids too young to legally drive. We will get in a bit of walking, some pictures with tractors and scarecrows and a snack at one of the local restaurants.

still sounds like lots of fun, L.Ann!
hi Peaches!
lauralind, the thing I struggle with is not only you need to teach the kids to do the chore, but you also have to stand over them and make them do it and endure the "why me?", "s/he's not doing anything / didn't do it yesterday!" and "why now?" discussions, which mean that everything takes twice as much time and three times the energy of doing it yourself.
helia, I know I will have to work on learning the AI tricks, just... don't wanna!

Re: South Downs National Park Sunday
kittykatt I know you can't trust AI on many things and have to check any info twice... But for planning, organisation, lists, it can be a useful tool. Also when trying to write a letter or email, chatgpt will start with something and then I have something to work on, instead of starting from scratch.
Hi L.Ann, the tractor and scarecrows seem like a nice plan for a sunny afternoon ! I hope it can bring a fun change after the seriounsess of the funeral and such.
laura nice to know you don't have too much work with music practice these days. Thanks for reminding us that indeed Flylady puts a lot of emphasis of salf-care, sleep and self-pampering. (( ))
helia what kind of jigsaw puzzle is it ? Number of pieces, picture ? I'm curious
Hi Peaches, Hi anyone I forgot !
Finally I went to the local playground with DS7 and he enjoyed it. I also spent 15 minutes on a fall-themed decoration project that involves some stitching and felt autumn leaves. Not sure how it will turn out, I intended the kids to participate with the felt shapes, but they never showed any interest. Now dinner is in the oven, one kid showered, the other one is probably using up the remaining hot water and I will have a cold shower later... I switched the water heater so it can work some magic.
I still need to plan the week and share my list in the hope it will give me some structure... It's like a handrail to help me through the week, to spare me the risk of everything crashing down.
TADAs
lunch, clean up
some quiet time
time at playground with DS7
dinner in the oven
TODOs
eat dinner, cleanup, beofre bed routine
decide on some outdoors adventure like last week's cliff walk near the ocean
check Ds9's homework
make list for next week
MrNG will do dinner

So true, trissie ! DS7 is still at the stage where he wants to help so even if it takes three times as long I let him do stuff so it will be time well invested later on. But DS9 has to be nagged and supervised when I give him tasks, even simple ones.the thing I struggle with is not only you need to teach the kids to do the chore, but you also have to stand over them and make them do it and endure the "why me?", "s/he's not doing anything / didn't do it yesterday!" and "why now?" discussions, which mean that everything takes twice as much time and three times the energy of doing it yourself.
