So, there isn't a canonic Shakespeare play starting with "S", however, it is believed that sdditional passages included in the fourth quarto, including the "painter scene" of the Spanish Tragedy have been written by the great bard!

The Spanish Tragedy, or Hieronimo is Mad Again is an Elizabethan tragedy written by Thomas Kyd between 1582 and 1592. Highly popular and influential in its time, The Spanish Tragedy established a new genre in English theatre: the revenge play or revenge tragedy. It is considered one of the most influential plays of the Renaissance theatre. The play contains several violent murders and personifies Revenge as its own character. The Spanish Tragedy is often considered to be the first mature Elizabethan drama, a claim disputed with Christopher Marlowe's Tamburlaine, and was parodied by many Elizabethan and Jacobean playwrights, including Marlowe, William Shakespeare and Ben Jonson.

Many elements of The Spanish Tragedy, such as the play-within-a-play used to trap a murderer and a ghost intent on vengeance, appear in Shakespeare's Hamlet. (Thomas Kyd is frequently proposed as the author of the hypothetical Ur-Hamlet that may have been one of Shakespeare's primary sources for Hamlet.)

DS and DBD have a scout trip with rande-vous time of 8:30, so no slow morning here. Not even as infants were my kids early risers, they preferred to stay up late and get up late, so you can imagine how our early mornings look. But they are off the door and I am fully dressed and caffeinated at 8:20, so there's that! Not feeling overly great, but possibly not as bad as yesterday, I'll just move at a comfortable pace and see where that takes me!

Good morning Trissie and thank you for another ingenious start! That is a very early start for a Saturday for you. But a big WTG for getting DS and DBD OTD on time, and yourself up and caffeinated! Oh, and I never answered your question yesterday - yes, you're right, the pictures hanging in the stairs are of cats!

Bama, Ikwym about spending more on groceries for pets than for us! I was quite staggered at the cost of Matilda's new prescription wet food. For some reason it was a lot more than her prescription dried food. Still, if it helps to keep her well and reduces the number and I tensity of her cystitis.attwcks,.then it will be worth it. (Petplan are also paying towards some of it so it all helps. ) I like frozen things out of the freezer, ... but my sensitive teeth don't. . (As a child I used to like eating those tiny sweet fri as en peas straight out of her freezer!) I'll have to wait.amd.see.whether Freddie is hungry enough to trim his nails - I pile some of hisdried food in front of him to distract him so he doesn't bite me. But he had quite a lot to eat yesterday, so I may need to wait .

Today.DH is meeting up with his friends. Not sure what I'll.do yet - it's going to at least partly.deoend.on the weather,.and it's still.daek ATM.

Awake since around 4.30 am. So our president designated a Prime Minister, again. If you're interested in French politics, we had a prime minister until Monday morning : Sébastien Lecornu made a list of ministers last Sunday night, but during the night there were various comments, reactions, people he had chose who wanted out... so Lecornu quit on Monday even before his government could meet at least once. During the weeks, talks and such happened.. People called for Macron to quit, Lecornu was the fourth PM to quit since last year's snap elections. And Macron promised he would name a Prime Minister on Friday. The name was given around 10pm. So this morning I saw the news and asked MrNG : "guess who he chose as new Prime Minister ?" and he said "no idea, who ?" and I said "Sébastien Lecornu". Sometimes politics sound like a very bad joke.
Grey morning, autumn colours are beautiful in sunny weather, but they look nice in contrast with the grey skies too.

Trissie, it's a mixture of both! I've just ordered a canvas of Freddie, which I may give to DH for Christmas ( Fred does already appear in a collage, but it's nice for him to have his own picture where he looks particularly dignified.) Jude already has her picture on the wall, and we also have paintings of some of our previous cats. I also need to do something about Matilda! (DH's birthday?)

FFB, thank you for the interesting summary of the French government.I will confess I was unaware that the same gentleman had been appointed twice as prime minister . I hope DS9 enjoys his sleepover, and that everyone else can find a.film you all enjoy.

I've had coffee with DH, taken Fred out, and dealt with the JWs who came door knocking ( they ran away again. I've no idea why, I always try and be polite and smiling, and who wouldn't want to discuss a cat's urinary issues (thankfully now resolved! ) on a Saturday morning in October! ) DH is now launched, I've had my breakfast, and I need to do some housework.
