** Toilet monthly x4 (chlorine tablets in tanks, toilet paper restocked)

After further research the money in the bank account in MIL name belongs to her church. MIL was church treasure and for whatever reason this account was not transferred to another church member. This is a very small church (less than 30 members) and mostly older generation. ANYway, the congregation is now aware of the money, and they will make a decision about what to do with it.

DS17 called for the 4th time this morning. He just got kicked by a cow and will have a bruise.

Living in cattle country, I hear firsthand from people who are deeply involved every day. I'm not much of a news follower, so I don't know if it's widely known outside my circle how much cattle prices have skyrocketed. It's shocking—buying a baby calf used to cost $100, but now that same calf is $1,400. Selling a year-old calf now brings in four times what it did just a few months ago. I'm no expert, but it seems logical that these massive price hikes will eventually show up at the grocery store meat counter.

I have chopped up a carrot and a huge potato and brought them to a boil along with a small hand full of green peas and green/yellow beans from the garden. These will go into the casserole for tonight.

I cleaned one litter box and all of the clean clothes are away.

Dh and I are listening to CDs on a 200 disc player. It isn't working right, doing some skipping and only playing a few bars of some songs. Dh says he has a head cleaner for this machine. If he can't find it, I will order one on A river.

Had lunch
Rinsed off my plates.
Put elastic in the sweats I hemmed the other day.
Finished our walk did the loop in the neighborhood.

I do have the need to hand wash a table cloth decided not to do sheets today.
Tip the sweats I cut off I used the elastic from shoes tag for the new elastic perfect size
and easy for reusing it win win! Wore em on the walk to test and perfect.

Saw a deer and fawn (s)? Not sure how many.

A quick-moving thread today.

Awwww, poor ds getting kicked. The way to do well in that situation is to be 17 years old.

LadyM, HRH, who still figures your ds and dd are little kids, says to ask them, "Who is a slimy character but good at trick shooting?" Annie Okra.

Bank account situations like that happen often to houses of worship. You'd think bank accounts should stay on a treasurer's radar, no matter if members are sick or pass away. But then most church treasurers are unpaid and unappreciated in a thankless job. And anyway, the church's treasurer may find that the account was one belonging to a particular group or for a particular fund, either of which was subject to becoming defunct and didn't have oversight by the rest of the church. We used to have one belonging to the women of the church, who met at two different times and two different places. One-half of the women of the church disbanded. Also, funds in that account had, at one time, been gathered for a specific project that didn't end up happening so there was some procrastination deciding what should be done.

I admit to spending time on sewing and not on conceptual economics, but I'll get back to that. I have the cardigan/jacket to a finish, unless I do decide on a pocket. I'm thinking a pocket might make it look a little too casual. I wish I had a daughter around to give advice. HRH says of course it needs a pocket because everything needs a pocket, so that's a bit unhelpful. He did help me decide about going for neatness at the neckline rather than being too clever.

Next up - following others (Nancy?) in getting linens washed.

I don't remember what I said about small things yesterday -- it might have been someone else -- but I did put a note in my planner to spend at least 5 minutes making progress -- not looking for perfection, just progress.

In that line of thought, even with dgrands here, I have a few (small) ta-das:
* took DGD for breakfast
* put ant poison on the ant mounds, brought trash can back to the house
* started a load of laundry
* played some computer game with dgd (actually, just watched her play till she got bored, but she wanted me right there beside her)
* played a little bit of chess with her -- she is trying to teach ME and I don't know if she knows what she's doing, but she sounds confident, LOL
* DS came and repaired the handle on the toilet, took DGD home and left DGS with me
* started 2nd load of laundry
* made a frozen pizza for dgs
* read some of the paper
* washed dishes that were in the sink
* started third load of laundry (nothing is folded or hanging to dry yet)
* dusted main area of the house and master bedroom (realized there is ANOTHER leak in the roof beside the fireplace. Sigh.It is not noticeable from the main area of the room, but carpenter friend still has a small job to do up there and I will ask him to put some extra caulking or something around the fireplace when he comes)

Church at 6:00 pm -- second of three meetings to determine what direction church wants to go now.

I wish someone would find a secret bank account dh left me.

flipped laundry again - two blankets washed, mom's clothes washed - more mom and miscellaneous laundry washing right now.

I need to finish whites, more towels and sheets off others beds

washed to the stove on top and added a few dishes to the dw.
I have an appointment with the electrician bc outside lights aren't working. no fuses blown that I can see.

dd's dog ate a big chunk of swish cheese off the counter -
you would think he was never fed.

- you all know what cows/bulls are like but most people don't realize that their size and speed can be dangerous. one year, while I was at the local county fair, a woman- (who owned a lovely dairy cow- holstein)- was pushed hard against the wall and broke her ribs. The cow got spooked in its pen and she had put herself between the wall and the cow. It happened that fast.

it's amazing how high the prices have gone.
I heard this morning that soy farmers are having a hard time bc china refuses to buy soy from the United States. I hope it doesn't hurt the farmers as much as that they are predicting.
I also heard that there have been less cattle than years ago because of inflation and drought in many areas. less cattle - higher price - more consumers? - not sure if it is true or not.

So true. I've known many highly experienced cowboys get killed by them and many others severely injured. Anyone who has worked cattle has some stories to tell. DBro has worked cattle all his life and he still gets caught off guard occasionally. He has dozens of stories of experiences he had. The last time he had just got out of vehicle to cut twine from round bale of hay he was putting out. An angry bull charged him, and he just had time to drop and roll under the vehicle to escape being injured.

During the 2-3 decades that DH & I raised cattle, I had some close calls while checking them in the pasture and still remember the scary moments vividly. 99.99% of the time they are safe to be around, but that .01% is something else.

I've been in the kitchen cooking. Another day of no one going hungry. Win!

DGS29 is texting to use me as a sounding board in a decision he is trying to make. I am playing the part of devil's advocate to help him think through all sides before he makes his final decision.

Some more small progress on big items.
Put the spare bed back on it's frame on the floor.
Then put the mattress box frame down on the frame.
Followed by the actual mattress.

I decided I can use it for quilts to lay out blocks projects and stack project as I decide on
the colors I want for strips in them. It was worth it to clean under it before I set it back up.
I was surprised how lite it was yea!

The sun came out that is nice.
I called dson and we had a good chat.
Like LM dson helped me to decided to set the bed back up instead of trying to haul it to the basement or out to the shed.
I'd pretty much decided against it and no one came to get it so... I can use it for pattern lay out etc. win win!
No one else seems to need it any way.

Have my next knitting project started I have like three rows on it.k Camo colored yarn.

flip flopped laundry again - I have one more blanket to wash
decorated with half the halloween stuff. - I don't have a whole lot - just enough to be homey
---- put up the rest put up cornstalks and pumpkin
cleaned the top of the washer and dryer
used swiffer duster for walls

I need to vacuum the laundry room and kitchen
