Trissie, wife of a programmer too. Did I read this right, he drives over 1000 miles to work (or was it kms?) is there a reason he doesn't fly? Mine only drives if it is within 8 hours. Usually he flies and he did travel quite a bit but no more. I am glad something good for you is coming out of the fiasco in America. It is like watching a never ending SNL skit or a really bad drama show on the daily.

KK - Are your kitties old and not well? You seem to go to the Vet a lot. That would be so expensive here, I do need to make Max his yearly appt. We are fostering a cat, his name is Tripp and he only has 3 legs. He is not named Tripp because he trips himself but because he trips his people. He gets so excited for people he will run and either race between your feel while you are walking or flops down right in front of you as you are walking to get pets. The 2 of us are going to both be dead at the bottom of the stairs. He is missing one of his front legs but he can jump and is a food stealer. He is on a diet because he got a bit too portly. He does not like being on a diet. He barely sheds and is just the sweetest thing. He belongs to my son's friend and when they get a new apartment he goes back to them.

Bama - I am glad the hostages got returned that was a good thing, I hope the peace deal truly goes though permanently and stops that war.

L.Ann How old is littlebit now?

Helia - ask about Jublia for your toenail fungus - it is a pricey prescription but totally worth it, the only thing that ever cured both my husband and mine. Are your students afraid of coming to class? Our student numbers are 25% what they used to be and before at least 99% of our students were here legally (I leave 1% because though we weren't aware we didn't make them prove it like we do now) - but now because they don't have permission to work or can't get a REAL ID(most were spouses of IU students) or their paperwork is lacking something they can't come to class or they are afraid to come to class. We are a locked down building - no one comes in without a specific to the person warrant.

I have posted on the weekly task lists but rarely check in here. I feel almost more busy retired than when I worked full time.

We are having part of the house painted on the inside. Changing the color in the living room/kitchen and hall and upstairs stairwell as well as the ceilings repaired for cracks on the entire main floor and repainted. He starts next Monday so I have this week to do some decluttering. I am having my cleaning woman just come on Thursday to help me organize. I also have today. DH is off today for Indigenous People Day (Formerly Columbus Day) and he may end up getting furloughed by end of month if the shutdown isn't resolved but I don't want it to be resolved without solving the issue at hand. I told him to treat it like Retirement light.

I need to break these tasks I am totally avoiding down into manageably bites.

Do paperwork - it is on my desk right now so that will be first.
Do Laundry - just hear my husband put in first load - we have about 4 to do
Strip and change sheets and towels
Give dog a bath
Go through top of Mary Kay Closet
Go through corner hutch
Go through long hutch
Go through Envelope bookcase
Go through middle book case
Go through cubes shelves
Clean out desk
Clean out pantry cabinet and throw away old food and out of date things, take stock and plan meals with things we have.
Clean out baking cabinet and tool drawers and island drawers and corner cabinet
Clean out freezer inside Clean out fridge inside
Clean out master bath drawers and cabinets
Clean out coat closet and donate coats to church

Looks like I now have a massage today at 3, must leave in 20 minutes - it was supposed to be at 5:30 on Wednesday. I have mostly piddled on the computer and done a little shopping and cancelled some subscriptions. I the mail piled up and waiting to sort it. I only have to pay bills really once a month, I set up others at that time to come out every other week on paydays. I only pay the different utility bills like our medical, DATA, electric, gas and water once a month and our credit card comes out twice a month to pay off the balance for that month. Other bills are auto paid automatically like phone and mortgage etc. I am having so much trouble motivating myself.

CostumeLady, DH leads the physics team for the game, but also consults on assembly of all game data (landscapes, vehicles, monuments, sounds, Easter eggs etc), and his main travelling partner is the head of the sound departments and usually somebody who takes photos. So they do a lot of recording and photoshooting - and also transport very sensitive, very expensive and very specialized electronic equipment. Once something got damaged and they had to drive 400 miles (and that was East Coast) to the only East Coast shop that had this particular thing in stock! The 1100 mile drive that they make once or twice per year is to the headquarters of their main European partner, where they are granted access to vehicles before their official launch (sometimes there's even day zero coordinated activities, like the day the new design is announced, you can download it in game). I'm still amazed that computer games require this level of detail, or can generate enough revenue to fund all that, but he's been with the company for over 15 years and they are going stronger and stronger!
L.Ann, the letuce wraps sound very versatile! I'll have to give it a try.
Dogged, so where would you get if you were to drive 1100 miles? Would it even get you out of Canada? :-)
You have deer outside, Bama? :-)

8:45 and I am beginning to crash down. I had a very short night, under 5 hours, and it's beginning to show. Dinner dishes are done, the kitchen and living room would benefit from a 15 minute room rescue, but whatever is not done by 9:30, will have to wait till tomorrow!

My burst of energy is waning.
Our property backs up to hundreds of acres of woods, trissie, so we have a little bit of everything but don’t see them very often. The deer usually come early morning but the acorns may be drawing them out now. There was a doe and a baby on the edge of the property making the dogs bark. Deer hunters are putting feed out now which is also bringing them out. I have two bags of clover I need to get planted soon.

Hello, everyone!

Trissie, that's a lot of driving for your DH!

Helia, I'm glad the podiatrist was helpful.

CL, Trip sounds a real character! Freddie is 12, with several medical issues that require treatment and monitoring, but don't slow him down, Jude is 7 and Matilda is 4 yo. We've had rather a year of it, especially with Fred and Matilda, (teeth, seizure and now cystitis) but fortunately we have excellent vets and very good insurance! Freddie has monthly injections along with other medications, and 6 monthly blood tests, and Jude has a monthly weight check (she is overweight, but we are slowly getting nearer her goal weight), and I really can't take them together as Fred is so badly behaved it upsets Jude . Matilda is now on a prescription diet and bladder supplement, which is going well so far. I'm hoping for some months now of just routine appointments and collecting of meds and food!

L. Ann, Little Bit sounds an ideal shopping companion! :D

Bama, are Autumn and George kitties?

Hi, Peaches!

I've got half the climbing rose trained and tied into the fence. I'll do the other half tomorrow or Wednesday -there a couple of branches I still need to think about. Upstairs is clean and tidy, and everyone else is now snoring.

Kittykatt, technically George is the neighbors cat but they don’t tend to him and he has made my mom’s porch his home. We feed and medicate him (had infected eyes when he showed up). He’s a pretty pale orange fading to white underneath and very sweet. His coat has filled in nicely since he came here. Lola is the other outside cat (her daughter Autumn is inside and I’ve been mixing up the names lately), she’s a dark orange tortoiseshell we rescued from a gas station with her 2 litters (2 mostly grown males, 1 has since passed away, the other 1 plus 1 from the later litter are in the bathroom bc they don’t play nice), and a boy and girl that live in the main rooms, all beautiful orange (I guess most people call them yellow lol). Lola escaped outside one day and is unapproachable so we let her live her best life alone. It’s weird because when we brought her home and had her inside she was tame. She will come out and visit if we are outside but won’t let anyone near her. For the most part she hides under the vehicles in the yard, coming out to eat and go back. Sad. I need to set a trap up for her but so far she has outsmarted me.
