Very much appreciated learning even more about Harriet Tubman. Like helia and Bama, I knew a lot of that, but it filled in some gaps for me and a couple things I definitely want to remember. Thank you, trissie.

Kittykatt, I love that phrase, "we will draw a veil over Freddie's behavior today". I am so glad he gets a clean slate and is understood! Our vet has two entrances, but indoors the separation is only 5 feet high, so still a bit TOO cozy for those who live life as much by smell as sight.

Lauralind and Bama, I enjoyed reading about your gatherings of cats, quite remarkable. One who came to our very rural door, "Little Cat" to my dh, was holding a paw up and we thought, injured. But she was handicapped. A vet visit sort of angered my dh, who didn't want to believe that she was mentally impaired as well, but she had a syndrome that included heart problems, and it took her life early. We only had her a few years, indoor only. She would undoubtedly have died in the wild without finding someone, because of only one normal front paw.

5pm and I only just got home. I had to wait up in the office for somebody who needed something urgent but took over 24 hours fixing mistakes I pointed out We can't all give 100% result 100% of the time, but this department, it's only a hit if they somehow screw up the miss! (yes, it's them I generally complain about)
But enough of that. I am home and I have a family that needs me and enjoys me (well other than the teens... I still have one non-teen! )

kittykatt, did they have the sign in dog-uese too? Maybe that would have been more effective!
L.Ann, if I don't "see you" around before your apt tomorrow, I am thinking of you and praying for good news and good strategy by the doctors!
gma, thinking of you today, Glad you are surrounded by family in this transition time! You've helped your mom live a full life long past her hundreth birthday, which is awesome! But she has another life ahead, and I am sure she already has family gathered at her bedside waiting to greet her once she leaves this world.

Harriet, it's always tough when you have pets with severe illnesses... one of our cats had a very unique rarely documented hormonal syndrome (severely impaired production of growth syndrome) - she was supposed to be dead by 6 months, but apparently didn't understand the vet. She was about 9 years when covid pandemics started and decided that a household of 2 fulltime adults and 4 fulltime kids (then aged 3 to 9) was not her kind of thing and moved out to a quieter place. Can't really blame her, though

Hello, all. I am feeling productive today, though I cannot point to any accomplishments to back up that feeling. No doubt, I will find my mojo here.
Thank you for starting us off, trissie. I have always viewed Harriet Tubman as a sort of super hero. I can picture being desperate enough to risk everything to get away from the horrific conditions of slavery, but no matter how I try, I can't begin to picture being brave enough to turn around and go back into that territory to rescue others. I would expect to keep that sense of desperation until I were well into Canada.

LOL, I did play with Google Maps a bit, trissie and found that if I drive south for app. 1100 km, I'll end up at L.Ann's house, and if I drive northeast, I'll be back in Sept-Iles where my db used to live. I tried putting in locations north of me, but Google kept coming back saying that you can't get there from here. Fun fact: if I drive west toward Thunder Bay, I will still be in my province of Ontario 1100 km later, but I won't make it all the way to Thunder Bay.

Kittykatt, I'm glad that everyone survived Freddie's injection.
