I am moving like a sloth - lol - literally - not as hairy though
Right here with you, bw2. Even thinking about blowing off my workout today and just napping or something. And even tho I'm feeling overwhelmed, I can't get started doing anything.

Update. A smoke alarm is chirping and dog is terrified. Must deal with that, and have my brunch, and decide if I'm going to workout. Oy vey! Why does this always happen when my retired dh isn't home?

Back!

Hoping helia's puppy comes home soon!

I would like to get back to having a dishwasher, Harriet. Ours died most of a year ago, and we haven't replaced it yet. So Mt. Dishmore appears on our counter a few times a week. Sorry you have one more thing to wait for.

You are off to a great start this morning, Cathy. You too, Nancy!

Twins, I wish I could give you a hug -- or a clone to do all these things for you, so you could have a little peace. Glad to see the HOA stuff went well. Your DD and a frat bro -- is it your DH's birthday, or just a coincidence? Know what you mean about extra instructions for DH.

blessed, I need to work on my cards as well. I need a new routine now that I'm not doing payroll -- some other things should be bumped up to the morning now that I have time.

Next up should be lunch -- I've gone from having too few choices to too many now that the cupboards are full. I need to make a list of the things the grocery store didn't have so we can try another store. I need to look at my calendar for the next couple of weeks. I got a bunch of appointments made yesterday -- or was it the day before? -- and most of them seem to be for next week. I need to chop most of the peppers we got at the store and toss the chopped peppers in the freezer. And then I should throw in some wash -- one of those tasks that should probably be moved to the morning. And I need to make a list of all the "me" tasks in the playroom -- I've hit a block where I can't do more with the kids until I do some things myself. That should keep me busy until DH gets home.

Just getting here …

Walked before sunrise, went to the gym then came home and made breakfast for Sweetie and me. He’s shutting down today and moping around not interested in his computer or tv. New behavior for him and me to figure out.

It’s Thursday so that means laundry day. Already got that going, and my little friend also needs a walk

Mystery, it's just a coincidence. Dh has lunch or breakfast with this guy often when we've been to NYC, and he's going to HHI (the long way actually) and asked about stopping off for the weekend. Then I got a text from dd that she had forgotten that's she was invited to a wedding here, and had RSVP-ed yes, so she was making plans to be here. Possibly she will work out a stay with friends but I do want to spend time with her - we don't talk on the phone so much because she's not calling me with problems all the time. Better for my mental health but I do miss talking with her.

I found the offensive chirp - it was a C02 detector plugged into the wall. It has a backup battery that had gone dead. Last time I had to track down a smoke detector chirping I vowed that we would stock up on batteries and change them all at one time. Dh did purchase batteries but we never followed through on changing them out. I sat with ddog a few minutes and comforted her. She's still upstairs on the day bed in my workroom.

Decided I'll skip workout but I need to go to drugstore.

I did get the other part of my walk done.
Did not have lunch yet waiting for it to thaw & I am not hungry yet.
I did some writing in my one journal identifying how I'm better after the low ebb I was in about 3 yrs. ago is encouraging me.

Glad to hear the guy that was feeding deer told by the cops he had to stop b/c of so many getting hit by cars by, & the fish & game dept.
bc of the wasting illness deer have and can spread blue tongue is the name of it. He can have water for them how ever.

Glad for the good weather we are behaving here a bit cooler this week during the day that's too be expected.

The day is zooming by. I try to stop and CUOP but I don't seem to stay long enough to post.

I don't know if I can remember everything I got into today but the things I do remember...
** AM personal and kitchen tasks
** DD14 delivered to school with a chatty drive
** DS17 homeschool accomplished
** Ordered 4 items online for DD14 Halloween costume. I'm not a fan of her costume but I'm not picking this battle.
** The decluttering and deep cleaning of the unnamed room is still ongoing, and it feels like peeling away layers. I think it looks great at first, but then I notice more things that need attention. I enjoy working in small bursts of 5-15 minutes and then stepping away. Coming back with fresh eyes helps me see things more clearly. IYKWIM
** DH has been wiring electricity in the shop. EEEKEEE! I almost freaked out when I discovered what he was trying to do because it put him in so much danger and created a high risk of fire or sparks to the building. Anyway, we talked it through, and I decided to hire an electrician to finish what DH started.
** I worked in the shop and gathered four 50 gallon bags of STUFF to be thrown away. DH is a pack rat and keeps everything.
** Went to the grocery store for 2 things. I came home with $80 of groceries.
** While at the grocery store, I ran into someone I've worked with for a couple of decades. We chatted for a bit, and she mentioned that she had recently told another former coworker about the law change allowing us to draw retirement from Social Security. WHAT? WAIT! WHAT?
** I called Social Security and confirmed that I am eligible to receive retirement benefits. The law was signed in January 2025. Unfortunately, I can't get an appointment with Social Security to file until December 17th, but at least the process is now underway.
** Received DD14 report card for the first 9 weeks. She has A's in all 7 subjects.

I have 20 minutes to relax before leaving to go get DD14 from school

Everything is getting on my last nerve today. I did skip my workout, but had to go out to pharmacy, where my script for Gabapentin mysteriously doesn't work anymore, despite my last bottle saying I had a refill. So called doc for that. Dropped off HOA checks at post office and at neighbors (reimbursements.) Tried for a tiny nap but dh came in with groceries and the wind slammed the door, so I was up. I did walk ddog two laps - one with dfriend M, so that's positive. It's a gorgeous sunny day. The dog is out again and she's snoozing out of the sun between my zinnias and the house in the shade. So cute.

Dh came in whining about my grocery list. I don't even know if he was serious but I was over it. I prefer the quart bottles of vinegar because they are easy to add to a partially filled gallon of water for cleaning my CPAP. No measuring, no struggling with a heavy jug of vinegar. The two gallon bottle would be much cheaper, however. I had nine dollars of dark chocolate on my list, and I cut him off when he started about bathroom cleaner...don't know what that was about. I don't know if he was serious because sometimes I do that over his bourbon purchases, which sure do add up faster than vinegar and dark chocolate! :D :D :D

Oh Nancy, tripping and breaking something brings back my memories. A steep staircase does too. I feel for your neighbor.

WTG on the continuing decluttering, LadyM. Between the dkids and dh you stay busy, I know it's good for you but it must be exhausting too. Good call on the electrician. And good news re: social security benefits, I hope!

I hate to hear that about your neighbor, Nancy, and so grateful for ER, and that it wasn't any worse.

Electrical - the main reason we are waiting so long to get this series of events done to have a dishwasher is safety. The carpenter/installer would NOT get into the electrician's lane, and the electrician wouldn't get into the carpenter's lane. Both cite the possibility of danger unless they touch base with each other by phone and do just what they are certified/competent to do.

YAY! The sweet, delightful, charming, FINE human being of a carpenter called while I'm posting and he's coming in the morning! He'd better be glad he was on the phone - I'd have hugged him.

HRH was frustrated with the modesty of the electrician who kept us waiting so long and so wouldn't charge much. The helper and I were shaking our heads and smiling as they argued about which one was going to be able to get the worst of this deal.

Electrician had been on his wedding anniversary trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. He says he walked into the casino having never gambled before and promptly lost $200, making it a most worthwhile life experience, because he'll never gamble again, either. lol

I've been busy spoiling this quick mini sewing project with perfectionism. So, I now deny all knowledge of the modest plan and have decided it was ALWAYS supposed to be elaborate instead. All fixed. 8-) Right on track.
