Electrician had been on his wedding anniversary trip to the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. He says he walked into the casino having never gambled before and promptly lost $200, making it a most worthwhile life experience, because he'll never gamble again, either. lol
Laughing out loud at this. I have trouble gambling with money - dh can set a limit and sometimes come out ahead. I'd love a trip to the Grand Canyon, but I'm limited with dh traveling there because of his fear of heights.

So glad you're getting closer on the dishwasher, Harriet. Yes, you don't want carpenter and electrician to proverbial "get their wires crossed" but I know you want that dishwasher in! Now for Mystery next...

Tomorrow I have a hair cut and style, then a pedicure somewhere else. And nothing else. Saturday we have a brunch with several couples at a home on the river - not A and V's but another couple. There's a river paddling race that will come through and we'll brunch and watch them come by. On Saturday p.m. we have a wedding. The younger dd of a couple we've known since our kids were little. The older dd is my kids age. Dh has stayed closer to him, otherwise I don't think we would have been invited.

Just checking in to make confession, I guess.
This day (Thursday) has been a total waste. I don't know what to do about myself. SMH.
I finally got out of bed and s2s at around 12:30 -- this was after getting up to eat my breakfast, which I brought back to bed with me, and talking to DS on the phone. He was on his way to the surgeon because one of his inside stitches (which were supposed to dissolve) was working its way out and ddil wanted the surgeon to see it just to be sure nothing was going on that indicated a problem. (It wasn't a problem; surgeon pulled it out and said everything looked fine.)
* sent text to lady who missed last night's class, let her know plans for the next two weeks (we're taking time off)
* sent text to beautician to make appointment (she never replied)
Then I went to the grocery store and the post office;
* mailed a thinking of you card to Dfriend recovering from surgery,
came home and lay on the couch and watched TV all afternoon.
* I did put a load of laundry in the washer.
DS brought DGD over after he picked her up at school;
* I took her to gymnastics (so ddil could get started on laundry, she said. I certainly didn't want to do anything to deter ANYONE from doing laundry at that house. Y'all would not believe the laundry that is piled up in their laundry room. It is unreal. And ds is supposed to be the one in charge of the laundry, so I'm not throwing this at her.)
She met us at gymnastics and I left, came home, lay on the couch some more and fell asleep.
Woke up when DS called on his way home from singing, ate supper, watched TV and played on my phone,
* did 15 minutes Walk away the pounds
-- finally (around 2:00 a.m.)
* hung laundry to dry.
* did bedtime routine, including daily Bible reading which I skipped this morning.

I guess I did a * few * productive tasks, but I feel like a slug, and I know this is not normal. People are not meant to stay up all night and drag through the day.
Every Sunday I fill out my planner and I have things I want to do and need to do, but the week goes by and nothing much gets done.
It's been 18 months; I should be getting my act together, but I'm still just wandering through my days, I guess. I don't feel depressed, but it is still impossible for me to turn off the tv and really go to bed at a normal time.

I've set priorities for tomorrow:
* get steak sandwich from the football booster club
* make appt for mammogram
* call doctor's office re: appt so they will fax orders to lab (that sounds backwards to me but that's what doctor's office said to do)
* send second message to beautician
* trim sprouts on new trees (cousin said it would help them grow better -- these are little sprouts that are coming up from the ground at the base of the trees)
Tomorrow is another day.

(((LucyLee))) I think what is happening is perfectly normal. Please remember that there is no set "timeline" for grief. A DF of mine lost her DH around the same time as you, and although to the outsider she appears "fine", she confided that she is really struggling. She does have 2 DDs, but neither live in the same city, although they're only a couple of hours away. And one DD is married and has a little DGS, so she does spend time with them which helps her. She doesn't feel ready yet to do what another DF has done since losing her husband, and that's to get out and try new things. Anything - she works on the principle that if she doesn't like it she doesn't have to do back. So now, she goes to a dancing class every week, she volunteers with the street Pastors, and also at the local community theatre. Oh, and she's booked herself several holidays ) nothing long haul, either within the UK or places like Cyprus and Majorca.) She also confided that she's still missing her DH terribly, but, in her words, "he wouldn't want me to sit and mope". ( They didn't have any kids).

I think what I'm trying to say is that maybe it's time now to take some time for *you* and find out what you enjoy doing, and help bring back your zest for life, rather than just dragging me through the days. Please don't feel you have to answer this, as it is rather an intrusive question, but is there a reason why you always have the TV on? Is it maybe for company , to hear another voice, or to block out your thoughts, a way of filling the time, just a habit, or do you really enjoy the shows and find them entertaining /educational? Just maybe some food for thought!

Over here, many groups and society offer "taster" sessions, so you can try it and see if you like it before committing. I'm sure there must be similar opportunities where you are, when you feel up to meeting strange (as on unknown!) people again. Another thing that came to mind, would you perhaps consider adopting a rescue pet? In my experience, they're always so very loving, and also give you a very good reason to get up in the morning! :D
