Re: Tiptree Tuesday
The Tiptree brand of preserves is produced by Wilkin & Sons Limited, a manufacturer of preserves, marmalades and associated products established in Tiptree, Essex, England in 1885,.
By 1906, the company owned 800 acres (320 ha) of land on farms in Tiptree, Tollesbury and Goldhanger producing 300 tons of fruit per year,[1] and feeding a factory capable at peak production of making 10 tons of strawberry jam per day. The company has held a Royal Warrant for preserves and marmalades continuously since 1911.
In 1914 the local newspaper reported “During Monday, over ten tons of strawberries including a large proportion of the famous ‘Little Scarlet’ were made into jam.”
With the need for a pound of sugar to a pound of fruit to produce 2 lb of preserves, production was halted during World War I due to a lack of essential supplies. But by 1922, and now owning 1,000 acres (400 ha) of farmland across eight farms, the company was creating new record outputs of fruit and preserves. An integrated production facility, the company also owned 100 houses, the village's windmill and blacksmith's forge, the Factory Club and the freehold of the Salvation Army hall.[4]
During World War II, the company and factory came under the reins of the Ministry of Food, and kept producing its preserves alongside other essential food products.
In 2010, the company celebrated its 125th anniversary, with a visit from Queen Elizabeth II.The company commissioned a stage play to relate the life of John Joseph Mechi, silversmith, inventor and experimental farmer at Tiptree Hall. Writtle College was commissioned to create a "Tiptree" garden at the Chelsea Flower Show.
The Tiptree unique 'Little Scarlet' Strawberry jam made a big impact on fictional spy James Bond, who enjoyed the spread with wholewheat toast and Jersey butter!

Re: Tiptree Tuesday
Good morning, everyone, and happy Tuesday!
Helia, that's very good news about Baby I, but it must be very hard for F to leave her behind, even though she's in the very best place for the car she needs. Also good news about the milk production! I think there's a very good chat the cat will return home, especially if DS or F call him in. He was probably just a bit spooked.
Dogged, WTG with 2 cottage rolls! They was quite an adventure you had with Germane and the rest of the groceries.
It's still dark,. despite the time change,
but I don't think it's raining.
If it's going to stay dry for the next few days, maybe I could clean some windows? I'm hoping for another "normal" day today with walking (my plan is to gradually increase the length of walks again now the garden isn't taking so much time), housework and some garden time. Thursday and Friday are going to be busy this week, so I want to make the most of these quieter days.

Re: Tiptree Tuesday
◕‿◕ * * * Good Morning! * * * ◕‿◕
Kittykatt, thanks for the start and another sweet and fruity title. I'm not sure why Thursday and Friday will be more busy, is it because of Halloween ? Sorry if you mentioned it earlier.
Thinking of baby I and her mom. Also fingers crossed the cat find the way home soon.
I'm hope instead of payroll, because DS7 was sick yesterday and MrNG had to go back around noon to drive him from daycare to home and stay with him. We have a paper from the dr, so I will get half-pay for the day (I'm allowed up to 3 sick-child day per year, that's my first). I was supposed to be off starting tomorrow until the weekend, anyway, and there isn't much to do at payroll except for the daily accounting tasks, which take 1-2 hours daily. At least next Monday I will have a busy day catching up on the daily tasks for the days I missed.
MrNG is doing his second day at his internship place, in France it's called an ESAT (établissement et service d'accompagnement par le travail), a non-profit organisation where grownups with a disability can do paid work, being supervised, leaning autonomy and new skills.
I just walked DS9 halfway to his own daycare place, with packed lunch, no rain so far.
DS7 is in bed reading, not very sick - a kind of cold virus that made his stomach upset yesterday. I'm not sure what we will do today, probably not much, I may do some quiet cleaning, read with him, and just relax, which is something I need.
TADAs
up, bfast, fed DS9
helped DS9 pack his lunch and stuff
walked him halfway and back

Re: Tiptree Tuesday
Good morning, FFB! I'm sorry DS7 is still unwell, but sitting up in bed reading is a very good sign.
Thursday and Friday are both busy as I have to up and OTD early. Thursday is church, errands and parish lunch ( which is going to be a big responsibility as there are so many of us this time), and Friday is a hair appointment for me and shopping for trainers/ trainer type shoes. I need some in black leather, and the shop I bought them from for years no longer exists.
So, because every brand has different sizing , different width and different fitting, and I have "difficult" feet, it means I'm going to have to go into town and be measured and fitted in order to hopefully get something that is comfortable, rather than just ordering "the same again" online.
Today is beautiful and sunny (so far). I e taken Fred out and managed to put the last few bits and pieces in the recycling before the dustmen came. Going to make the most ost of this beautiful day and go for my walk next .

Re: Tiptree Tuesday
kittykatt good luck with finding the right shoes, comfort is so important when you walk. I hadn't realized the parish meal is this week, for some reason I thought it had to do with holidays.
Hi L.Ann, have a good walk, I hope you have nice weather.
DS7 doesn't look sick at all, but he does have some kind of cold. I'm supposed to clean his nose but I have put it off because he hates it. The doctor advised us to help him do it himself, but I know I will have to threaten to do it myself in order for him to accept giving it a try.
Vacuumed most rooms, detailed vacuuming in some areas. DS7 decluttered the floor of his room so I could vacuum there, he does well with putting things away.
TADAs
cleared the green beans that have stopped growing in some areas
sorted a few things in LR
vacuumed everywhere downstairs, stairs, upstairs
TODOs
some stitching (autumn felt leaves project)
have DS7 help prepare lunch
eat

Re: Tiptree Tuesday
Thanks for the start, kitty! I was wondering what to have for breakfast, now toast and jam is sounding good. Good luck on the shoe hunt.
French, I’m glad ds is on the mend and hope you get some “me time” while you’re off.
LAnn, hope the walk left you refreshed and ready to tackle the day.
Helia, nice to read baby I is improving. Hope cat is home napping and regretting his choice of dashing away today.
Dogged, enjoy the cottage rolls. Mojo never made it home but at least we tried. There’s hope for today still.
Is trissie away this week?
