Good afternoon! Cathy's mention of getting stew started reminded me I needed to start a crockpot of broccoli cheese soup. So while I was working with Twins, I got that done as well as putting away last night's clean dishes and washing the breakfast dishes along with the couple of dishes I had left over from last night. Now I have pots and pans in to soak.

The biggest things in my day are getting birthday cards for DH, picking him up at school, and possibly going to the hockey game with him. I'd like to have all the dishes done -- he tends to be the one to do the dishes, and I don't want him to think I've left work for him while he was gone. Time permitting, I'd like to do a load of shirts and a load of rugs, but it won't be a horrible thing if they don't get done -- and the "time permitting" is less than it ought tp be, as I slept in. I had nowhere to go, and it was gloomy outside -- good sleeping weather, my mother used to call it. The gloom has turned to rain here; I hope it's still holding off for DH a couple of counties east. His retreat is mostly outdoors.

Do I remember correctly that the construction is for a room to replace a leaky three-season room, blessed?

I see Harriet is far ahead of me, though she does have that lovely new dishwasher!

My thoughts are on framing a catapult that will launch golf balls. This is a school assignment that DD14 has and is one of the very rare times that she is asking for help. According to DD14 the wooden catapult needs to be 2-3 feet tall, wide and long. hum..... this is harder than I thought it would be.

Otherwise, my Friday is going well, with nothing scheduled for the day. I wouldn’t suggest having seven medical appointments in a single week, but somehow, we managed to get through them.
I thought about taking DD14 to the city for her bloodwork today, but then I remembered she has a counselor appointment there on Monday. So, I decided to hold off on the bloodwork until then, allowing us to combine both medical tasks.

Oy, it's been quite the afternoon. I won't go into all the details because I need to get back to work. I went to Tar-jay to pick up an inexpensive comforter for the day bed that dd will be using. Lots of tsuiris (yiddish for trouble or woe; aggravation.) Just now back. Next round at TOTH. Roomba has been uncooperative as well. Battery ran down upstairs and now it's totally non responsive so I need to troubleshoot. It may be more trouble that it's worth to take it upstairs because it can't find its way home.

hello - I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by not starting anything
home from dh's appointment - they are giving him two weeks of antibiotics before he gets his tooth pulled. (they wanted to see his trac as well).

I did my study - found some things interesting about plagues that may have been attributed to rye and how it affected people of the Bible and those in Middle Ages etc. Ergot - fungus - poisoning. (mold). (the new thinking about the history of it and how people of the time tried to explain why it was happening with stories.)

I love the start up for the day, Twins! Coming from a family of builders -- ddad a draftsman and contractor, dgd a brick mason -- I see the analogy so well and appreciate it. (WTG on troubleshooting the roomba!)

Unfortunately, I have NOT framed the day well at all. Not. At. All.
I just could not wake up this morning. I've been extra tired this week I think -- maybe it stems from the antibiotic? I don't know. But I did NOT shower before bed, and I did NOT s2s first thing. I just felt like I had to eat something... so I had a banana and pb crackers, and did my Bible reading while I ate. Then I did cross one thing off my list -- contacted dfriend whose husband is the preacher dmom talked to the other day. Dmom would love to read his dissertation, which was on the history of the church she and I grew up in. Well, friend says he did it for his Master's degree and never got it back. (It is hard for me to believe he didn't save a copy on the computer, but OTOH, he might have done this before everybody did everything on computers and saved everything. He probably completed his Master's before the mid '80s.) Anyway -- she said the majority of it is in the church write up about their 150th anniversary, which I already have. So I took care of that. Dmom has that also.
Then, I finally s2s, and now it is almost time to go pick up the dgrands.
I also got quite lost in YouTube.

Also talked to dmom, who told me about her trip to Next Town, which did not go well at all. She did not have an accident, but sounds like she came close, and she got turned around somewhat in her head, trying to decide which way to go from Point A to Point B. I told her she better just confine herself to our Tiny Town from now on. Sounds like I am going to be doing more fetch and carry for her.

Tsuiris. I like that word. Very appropriate word re: dmom.

A wooden catapult 2-3 feet tall? That is quite a project for jr. high! Some kids don't have parents who are mechanically-inclined, you know? I guess if ds had ever had to do that, one of his granddads would have jumped in to help, but dh and I would have been at a loss. I know you will do great with this, LadyM, and I am already applauding your efforts and your success!

Have fun at the hockey game, Mystery! Happy birthday to your dh! Time permitting certainly does get away quickly when one sleeps in -- and I know I slept in a lot later than you!

And there's Nancy sleeping in till daylight! At daylight, I was probably just getting into my "core" sleep. LOL.

I wanted to make some progress on the porch furniture today, but as Mystery said, "time permitting" has disappeared. We are expecting rain and possible storms tonight, and then * poof * winter arrives, it seems. Well, no, looks like tomorrow will be good -- high 74. Then Sunday, the high is 56, and Monday 44!!! I am not ready for this!!! It does get back up into the 60s later next week, but brrrr... I am not ready for cold weather.

Time in the kitchen was productive. BLT sandwiches were my main focus but while the bacon was cooking, I kept myself busy with other prep. 5 Cheeseburgers and pulled out of the freezer a couple bacon ranch chicken patties.

Earlier today we went to the grocery store for bread and brought home a slab of slow cooked pork ribs just because they looked and smelt so good. DD14 was not thrilled to shop with two people who talk to & hug half the people in the grocery store. All the chatting added 15 minutes or so to our shopping time. I consider it time well spent.

I also found nice towels for dd and put out some toiletries for her. She forgets, or counts on using ours. I do keep a little basket in the guest bedroom of sample size stuff for guests.

Still need to start p.m. routine. The dog is underneath my feet for me to walk her. And need to unload the dishwasher. I'm so sorry I'm not greeting individually...

I just came in the house from walking and was ready to cool down. It is 87F inside the house, so I turned the a/c back on. I thought we were done with a/c for the year, but I am wrong. I'm easygoing about the temperature, but there's a limit!

DS17 has two vehicles parked in front of our house with "for sale" signs on them. Just making a note of this for future reference in case I forget what life with DS17 is like.

Did the big store run.
Delivered prayer shawl donations.
Got a basket of fun finds at the thrift shop.
Books and holiday decor. After decluttering it last year I changed it up for this year.
Snowman with blue themed!
New to me wire baskets will be so much fun to do stuff with.

Got red and white quilt quarters to play with when they are dry.
Pressed them.

I put an up date after talking with Dgd it is in the J & C thread.
