Thursday Two Weeks before Thanksgiving PWYC

The holiday season is upon us! And after that the New Year seven weeks from today. (We don't celebrate Christmas at my house....but there's Hannukah and December birthdays and travel and and and....)

How's the holiday prep going? Are we looking ahead to be ready? What preparations can we make now to help keep us sane while finishing the year in style?

Thanks Twins for the start today what an awesome topic!
Talked with two family members yesterday and some tweaking has been happening with them
in regards to holiday plans.
I'm up and on time with my journals and planning process.
Great reflections...
It was So-o good to hear of dgd's future plans now that she is on the mead and getting back to her life.
I'm happy to be around for all the events they share with me as we chatted!
Such a joy.

Dgd took an item to paint for a gift and paints & brushes for that with her.
Plus 2 boxes of brownie mix; she enjoys doing that with friends!

I have one floor in my bathroom to sweep or swiffer and mop.
Some sewing to pay attn. to on a Cmas vest that needs to be happening. xxx for 3 seams I did.

Fun Clean
I have been doing this a task and then a fun thing after as a reward
cup of tea, read a chapter, journal a bit, knit some, sew a seam.
Walk. Some thing to look forward to when task is done helped me!

Good morning

I can see the holidays approaching, but that’s as far as I’ve gotten in terms of preparation—just recognizing they’re on the way. Just making through the hours each day seems to consume my thoughts and energy with little left over for future prep. That's one of the many reasons I like to hang around in the SHE village - you are a good influence to think ahead.

I have a headache this morning which is rare for me.

I stumbled upon my old blog that I used to update frequently from 2007 to 2010—WOW, I had completely forgotten about it. It’s still private and secure, with access only for those I grant permission to view. It was a strange feeling giving my grandkids the okay to read my thoughts and activities from over a decade ago. There are tons of pictures of them, each with a narrative describing what’s happening. Now I’m debating whether I want to start posting there again.

Blessed- what are the builders going to be doing?

One of the my old blog post featured a picture of the day Dad transitioned from home health to hospice. At the time, it felt like such a big deal. Looking back, it’s clear what a blessing it truly was. Hindsight is 20/20, and Dad went on to live at home eight more years after entering hospice.

Cupcake eggs make me happy. So simple, so good, and so nutritious. The air fryer is now loaded with fresh tomatoes to roast after I took DH biscuits out.

PT office called and now DD14 is on schedule to start PT a week from tomorrow.

Oooh, we don't do Christmas here (Jewish) but there's holiday doings and a wedding on 5 December and trip to NYC and stuff to do! We need a dog sitter for our trip, I need something to wear to that wedding (have lost weight, not sure there's anything in the closet that would fit...), we need to talk to my dcousins about Thanksgiving. I posted over in J and C about dcousin J. Her ds is hosting Thanksgiving this year.

I feel almost energetic today. Perhaps I'll go on to Knoxville tomorrow and come home tomorrow p.m. too. There's a football game on Saturday so hotel rooms on Friday night are at a premium. Or I could wait and go on Tuesday and come back on Wednesday.

Found something yesterday re: DAR application. Jacob's brother, William, was in Knox Co. TN and bought land there in 1799. I'm arguing that Jacob was the only guy there with that surname so he's the only guy that could be Elizabeth's father...so needed more research. Wm probably bought land and returned immediately to NC tho, and he has his own daughter Elizabeth born only a year later than my Elizabeth, and the DAR has his Elizabeth in their records. So I need to address that!

Hanukkah is not a big holiday, it's really a minor festival, but it's proximity to Christmas has led us to equating it with Christmas, particularly when children are involved. Looks like the first night is the 14th when we're in NYC.

You know, it's so hard to connect (write) when dh is home asking/talking/commenting, and ddog is going in and out and in and out. Starting this hours ago.

I have done about half of my desk stuff ...
1st one not productive.
2nd one also non productive phone call sigh. to many hoops to jump through for info. buzy office frustration.
Sigh..
Okay one more to attempt does not need a phone call for results. X

I did knit a few rows and marked where I started today.
Got dressed.
Had bfast.
Walked for my fun thing! A.M. steps are done.

Returned to my desk after lunch and made myself sit down and address and stuff one envelope and
then put the stamp on it even though the mail had been picked up so it is ready to go out in the mail box
in the morning!

Hello, all! I see Harriet peeking in — hopefully, she is having a well-earned lunch!

I have the quick pickle for Saturday on the counter — it is supposed to cool to room temperature before I seal it up — and I have soup for tonight’s dinner in the crockpot. Well, the first part of it, anyhow; veggies and noodles get added later. I should clean up after myself and make lunch soon; DD has just put her lunch in to cook, and I should have something shortly after.

Looks like I have a bit of CUOPing to do from yesterday.

Not really ready for Thanksgiving, but then, we don’t do much. Typically, my brother hosts. He makes meatloaf or something; his girlfriend makes a couple of appetizers. I try to bring something for dessert, but he typically has something done there, too. Maybe we can make some sort of substantial veggie dish, since DC’s girlfriend is vegetarian.

Augh! DC just noticed that the crockpot was unplugged! Now I need to refigure the amount of time I want it on high. Glad they noticed, though.

Now to have lunch and hopefully to clean up my mess in the kitchen before I take DD to work. After that, I have some wash to dry/hang, a new load to start, and yesterday’s load to fold and put away. Have a great day, everybody!

more on Hanukkah and NYC: DD's temple is having a Hanukkah family event on the Friday night before Hanukkah starts - we'll be there but she is "working" the event so we opted to have dinner with dh's dcousin, who is celebrating. We are returning home on 15 Dec, Monday but will do little Hanukkah at home. Dh organizes the latke crew for the Friday night dinner at the temple - large group of his men friends cooking all afternoon (and sipping.) They're on their best behavior in terms of clean up, tho.

I ordered a black velour midi-style dress for the wedding, not sure if it will work. Also might look at a pantsuit option too before deciding. Wedding attire is supposed to be "Semi-formal." I hate hate hate shopping but need dress for more dressy occasions.

Heading upstairs after I reboot the laundry. I brought down the sheets from the daybed dd used, and all the towels to be washed up.
