Sidmouth has two main beaches: Sidmouth Town Beach and Jacob's Ladder Beach, both on the Jurassic Coast. The town beach is a mix of sand and shingle, backed by a Georgian promenade with Regency buildings, with the main part located in front of the town's esplanade, with many nearby cafés and restaurants, and with lifeguards during the summer.

Jacob's Ladder beach, a sandier area at the western end of the main beach, is reached via wooden steps and is great for rock pooling at low tide. It is sheltered by cliffs, with a walkway along the front and a series of wooden steps leading up to Connaught Gardens. There is also a level path from the town's main beach.

Good morning, everyone, and happy Saturday!

I will try and CUOP l.ater, as I have to be up and OTD early today. There is a women's breakfast today, which I feel I should support as it's the first one (I dont think I'll make it there each month, if that is going to be the plan, but it would nice to do from time to time.) Afterwards I'm planning a visit to the garden centre as the tool sharpener is supposed to be thereand my long handled shears could do with a good sharpening! I also might pick up a few Christmas presents if I see anything suitable - it's just mainly Dnextdoorneighbour C and possibly a birthday present for DF E ( her 100th birthday is at the beginning of January).

One of Freddie's notes on my hand turned out to be deeper that I had initially thought, so it was 2 hours down the walk in centre for me, after trying vainly to contact the health centre (they dont answer the phone , so you're supposed to use the online form, which they had taken down with a message to try again on Monday. . And despite the reassurance of the government health secretary, when I tried to book an appointment online there were, as ever, "no appointments available". DH suggested the local pharmacy, as under the new system they're supposed to be able to prescribe antibiotics , and that's just a 10 minute walk away, so off I set in the rain, and when I got there I was asked was I sure it was a cat!!! (Not was it *my* cat, which would have been a reasonable question, as although we don't have rabies here, a stray cat might be carrying other bacteria in his mouth). Apparently if it was an insect bite they could give me something, but not for a cat bite.

So off I went to the walk in for a long wait. However, when it was eventually mt turn I was treated very enthusiastically, which did surprise me a little, but the nurse let slip thast most in people who came shouldn't be there as they just needed to drink lots of water and lie down, which I construed as meaning they were there as the result of too much alcohol and/or other substances (sigh). Anyway we had a very good chat, and she asked out of curiosity whether I'd carried on with Fred's nails after he bit. And when I said yes, because the damage was done and a few more minutes wouldn't make much difference, she was highly amused!

So, I did get my steps in yesterday with all the walking, and I decluttered and cleaned two drawers of my dressing table, and wash my raincoat, so the day wasn't entirely wasted! :D

Back from a very nice breakfast -there were 10 of us. Then I drove to the garden centre a d got my shears sharpened and also found a couple.of perfect Christmas presents, some nice reasonably priced birthday cards for a couple of friends, and bought NOTHING ELSE! :D I had a nice chat with Dnextdoorneighbour C when I got home,.and now I'm going to follow her example, get changed and out into the garden. It's very soggy, but the rain has stopped (for now) and we also have some sun. DH is out with his DBro today, and started a beef casserole.in the slow cooker before he left, so I just need to keep an eye on that..I also ought to run the hoover round downstairs and it would be good to tackle a couple.more.drawers in the bedroom, but I think outside is calling while it's still dry and light!

Sorry about the bite from Freddie, Kitty, but glad you managed to get it seen. That sounds like a good number for the breakfast and WTG on the Christmas gifts! Thank you for another beach. This beach theme is activating my wanderlust; now I want to go travel and see them all!
trissie, dh has mentioned buying a furnace and getting into a new hobby of glass blowing when he retires. I can just see our garage burning down. . . :?
Gma, your mother was much more connected than mine. That's a lot of thank you cards! I handed a thank you card + check gift to those who helped with the funeral after the service. I sent notes + thank yous to those who sent her cards in the mail at the nursing home. I'm only going to send more thank yous to those who gave to her memorial fund for the church. I did and am continuing to do everything by myself - no help from my brother, who would be the only one to help with this. One of many frustrating things about him. :x

I have bought my first Christmas gift! I have ordered a farting unicorn for dniece. Thank you trissie! I'm hoping it will be here by Thanksgiving so I can give it to her then. I don't feel confident that dbro would actually open it if I send it in the mail. (My gifts to them last year sat unopened in the living room for months. )

Yesterday: I didn't get back here yesterday; no students -- got home from payroll early at 3 pm after waiting, chatting, and doing some of my end of session tasks. I then decompressed at home for too long - BUT I did get some cleaning done: spiffed the bathroom, tidied the living room, dusted the living room, wiped down the corners of the living room where the roomba misses, and doused our kitchen counter hot spot. I baked cornbread, made rice, and did the initial dicing for the white chicken chili, which dh then finished. He's really good at flavors. I helped set the table for 6 and grated a small mound of cheddar to put on the chili. Then, the Gs and the Rs were here 6:30 - 10 pm! It was really nice to see them. All the dishes didn't fit in the dw, so there's still a stack waiting to go in today.

Today: Nothing on the calendar until CG1 at 5:00. We will be late as it's one way to cut down on a 4-5 hour largely social event, which is just too long for dh and me. Dh will leave around 8. I'll stay until the end of the meeting -- but not the end of the socializing. LOL! Until then, I'm hoping to exercise - get in some cardio and maybe also a walk. Work on thank you cards. AND go shopping with dh for dining room chairs. Ours are starting to fall apart; they're only about 28 years old. LOL! I don't enjoy shopping, but this is important to do.

Next:
- some qt
- back exercises
- dress to exercise

Later:
- gym: low impact cardio
- s2s and self care
- make the bed
- towels: fold and p/a
- reclaim kitchen
- run dw again; unload

- CG1 5:30 - 9-ish
- duolingo
- update health apps (didn't do yesterday)

- anything else on the list?

Morning all. I could do with a beach trip once lol. All these beaches are enticing me. Nothing near that is warm enough. Vancouver Island maybe... still 12 hours away.

Kittykat yikes Freddie really doesn't like his nails done. Very hard to see a good Dr here too. The good one came through the store the other day. Poor guy had done 2 straight nights in er and office hours between. Er was closed that next night... but he's so good with mom and dad I don't know what we'll do if he's had too much.

Helian I hope you get a refresher between the social.

Gma that's a lot of cards to send.

Well I really should be productive today. My house is actually getting closer to being better. It needs a thorough whb that I so rarely seem to get to. The odd mornings where I get productive with some details is being noticeable. Entry needs help. Vacuum.. mop. And technically I should get dh to help decluttering the closet sometime. Make room for things that should go in there properly.

Except dh is home too. It's 7. I'm sitting here not moving. With craft beside me and 2 cats wanting attention.

I started completely over with my crochet. Counted. Recounted. Using safety pins to help keep track . And I must have been short one stitch. It worked. And I actually like the dark charcoal color edge instead of light. But now I think I'm going to pull the other attempt out and wrap the ball into a ball. Then keep going. Much better when I can get it right every row.

Oh and somewhere in the day we'll end up at mom and dad's. His computer is done cause of the windows 10 thing need to get the other one hooked up for him... if only he could learn to use his phone for internet. 😆. Dreaming on that one.

Oh and finish shoeboxes for tomorrow.

Tomorrow actually I will have a ds16. Except he really wants nothing. I think the kids are coming. I think.

Priority list

Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Floors
Crochet a couple rows
General tidy room by room
Declutter entry
Fix dad's computer
Shoeboxes packed

Today's tada list

Finish current row
Rewrap yarn ball
Shower
S&s both baths and reboot laundry

Empty and reload dw
Breakfast for all
Finish tidying kitchen all the way

☀️Good morning!

Kittykatt, thanks for the start. I’m so sorry about the healthcare options. We have walk in clinics and stand alone emergency rooms so it’s interesting to see what is available in other areas. I hope the scratch is healing nicely and the culprit is properly remorseful.

Helia, glassmaking is fun, we made ornaments at an art museum and they’re very pretty. I’m not sure what all equipment would be involved.

Hi LAnn, good luck with your list.

Laura, bummer about having to redo your crochet but glad it worked out.

Dogged, I looked up the song, that would get my foot to tapping.

I’d like to visit the local beaches now that it’s cooled off some but probably won’t be this weekend. Soon…
Dh and I went out yesterday so chores are the event of the day here today. He just went to get us breakfast and came back to the dogs roaming the yard, somehow they got out of the little fenced in area. Fortunately they didn’t run off and came in easily when he drove up. And he didn’t hit anyone in his truck coming down the driveway. I’ll have to see how they got out and fix it today. For now eating and chilling. Will bbl. Enjoy your day.
♥ Wake each day expecting good things to happen! ♥
