Saunton Sands is a three-and-a-half-mile-long beach in North Devon, England, known for its golden sand and consistent, gentle surf and a wide tidal range, making it popular for longboarders, beginners, and families.The beach is renowned for its long, slow-breaking waves, which are ideal for both longboard surfing and beginner lessons. Paddleboarding and bodyboarding are also popular activities.

It is dog-friendly year-round, with facilities like parking, a cafe, and surf schools., and its size makes it great for beach games, picnics, and walks.

The beach is adjacent to the Braunton Burrows, one of the largest sand dune systems in the UK and a UNESCO Biosphere There is no official lifeguard service, but a volunteer surf life-saving club provides cover on busy weekends.

During World War II: American troops trained here for D-Day, and remnants of bunkers can be seen in the Braunton Burrows dunes.
Modern military use: The beach is still used today for mock exercises between military forces.

Very busy week although boss was away most days, and 11th Nov was off work. Yesterday was busy too, with both boys at sports practice and me juggling timetables and heavy rain - we weren't sure DS9 would have his 10am lesson as it's outdoors, so I drove DS7 first, but the rain stopped at 10 sharp, so I finally drove back and it was 10.12 so he was stressed that he would be late... and I had to park wisely in order to go to our favorite bakery but everyone had been taking their cars because of the rain, parking places were few. Then feed everyone, then a short break, then DS9 went with MrNG in the city to have a look at skate boards - his birthday present wish - and when I though the house would be quiet the two neighbouring girls arrives, they are funny and smart but the eldest has such a loud voice... we played and had afternoon snacks together and I finally got rid of them and had 30 mns quiet before MrNG and DS9 were back. I managed some overdue kitchen deep-cleaning, for maybe an hour.
Today it's grey and wet, before a week of freezing temperatures. I didn't sleep more than a few hours, I hope to take a nap later.

Thank you for another wonderful beach, Kitty. I don't think of England as having beaches -- but I guess it does! Hope you had a good morning at church, and I suppose you are finishing your fabulous Sunday lunch around now.

I'm also up after a short night. The sky is getting a little light but the sun isn't officially up yet. I'm going to go for a LONG walk while dh does a 9 mile run. My weight has jumped almost a kilo since Thursday. I need to figure out exercise better while I let my feet rest.

Today is a very social scheduled day for me: church 10-11:30 ish, host CG2 3:30 - 6ish, host Sunday dinner 6 - 8:15ish, family zoom call 8:15 - 9:15ish.

I think dh is ready so I'm heading out. I'll BBL!

helia, good luck with your very social day. I can't believe you're an introvert when I see your schedule.

We have sun now, which means the temperatures will drop. In Brittany it's either too wet or too cold - from Oct to April.
MrnG has a visio call tomorrow night for a 5000 € contract for his own business, after a whole day at his internship place. We can really use the money as his training year doesn't earn him anything. Of course the visio is just the start, the mission also includes a few days on site (it's 2 hours away).
He will use Ds9's bedroom for the 2-hour call, and I'll be downstairs helping with the homework then serving dinner.

I have things to do and kids are fighting and MrNG is having a nap. My onw nap will have to wait.

Oh, how lovely to hear of a beach that is dog-friendly year round. I love to see those videos you sometimes see of dogs amazed by the seashore and the lapping water, splashing and having a great time.

FrenchFlyBebe, I agree with you feeling surprise when introverts like helia (and me!) are able to deal with social days. You can function as a social butterfly, while the desire of your heart can still be "Calgon, take me away", or curling up with a good book, or just having the house/room to yourself. Best wishes to your household today.

I'm expecting dgdC today around 2, while her big brother has church youth events. She wants to help me decorate. We'll get her Grandpa to do the high stuff (like getting my storage boxes down, lol).
