Hello, all. We have flurries forecast for today, but temperatures around freezing so not bad. I hope to take Germane for a walk at some point.
After yesterday's day out socializing and running errands, the apartment is in chaos. Okey, it wasn't just yesterday. Last week, I kept preparing things to go to the basement and not taking them. But today is a free day, and I have lots of activities to choose from, so that worked out well.
I got a pork tenderloin on sale yesterday, which seems very bougie as I have not been getting much meat at all lately. I need to look up ideas on how to use it to know how to cut it up for the freezer.

Kittykatt, I looked up Saunton Sands on the map and had a laugh when I saw that it is facing Ireland, not France. I thought the Irish must have thought "What are those English planning to do to us now?" when they saw the practice for D-Day. Thanks for starting us off!

FrenchFly, I hope that MrNG's call goes well, and that you get some rest before the weekend is over.

Hi, Bama.

Hi, Harriet. Have a good time with DGDC.

Hi, L.Ann. You are making good use of your Sunday. I'm glad that you got some time in with your puzzle.

Hi, Peaches.

Sunday
Cleaned up after dog X 3
Cut down potato bag for recycling
Changed out kitchen garbage
Started big garbage bag to bring down
Updated goals

I'm a fairly social introvert, FFB. Colleagues at work have been very surprised to learn I'm an introvert. I do like being with people, some more than others, but being with people does tire me out - and I will turn spectacularly cranky when I'm with people nonstop, which has led to some not-very-pretty meltdowns in my lifetime. I sometimes make conscious choices to value people and relationships over other things. I've learned to manage my introversion pretty well over the years - and better yet, dh the Dutch extrovert, has learned to respect that part of me. :) I'm spending time alone at home now until 3:30. --And I hope the contract comes through for MrNG!!
Enjoy time with dgdC, Harriet! I had forgotten you were an introvert too -- but I can see that. I think many of us here are introverts.
WTG Doggedly on snagging a pork tenderloin on sale! I hope you can enjoy it soon.

Hello, everyone!

Did you walk with your friend today, L.Ann?

FFB, I hope you can get a nap in sometime today.

Enjoy your walk, Helia! I'm also member of the introvert club, so "get" the need for time alone. Today's lunch menu was roast chicken, roast potatoes, gravy, Savoy cabbage, carrots, peas and creamed leeks, followed by coffee crème.

Have fun decorating the tree with DGD, Harriet!

Waving to Bama, Peaches and Dogged!

Today we had an interesting sermon from Chaplain General of the prison service. Much of what he said was very sound, but I do have an issue with his criticism of the extremely high and imposing wall surrounding the prison grounds. We do, after all, need to keep the inmates inside safely, especially as the prison was built ( in Victorian times) right next to a residential area! We also had a collection for Angel Tree, which helps prisoners buy Christmas presents for their children.

I had a successful time selling tickets for the parish Christmas lunch, and now 23 people have said they would like to come.πŸ˜€ Of course, there are always people complaining, some of the more humorous complaints being: "I don't like buffets", (well, perhaps don't come then? There are many people who are very happy it's a buffet, as that way they can pick what food they want, rather than be faced with a huge plate laden with food!) "Why can't you change the day?" ( Parish lunch is always on a Thursday, as many of the "regulars" have other commitments on other days) and, "why can't we have it nearer Christmas?" (Because the church gets booked up with carol services, concerts etc and we needed a free afternoon in the bookings calendar to allow time for people to chat and also for all the clearing up afterwards). But I keep reminding myself there are many people in favour of the idea, and you're never going to please everyone! :D

I've folded laundry and PA, and now I'm watching Poirot with DH, and with Matilda on my lap.

Hi, helia! Having the house to yourself when you rarely get time alone... chef's kiss! I remember how much I enjoyed that as a teenager. Working from home and living alone, I have have met my need for alone time, and am actively seeking out time with my dfs. Spaced out, at my pace, etc. LOL

Parish lunch is up to 23 people, Kittykatt--WTG!

How’s it going?

Kitty, I guess somebody is always going to find something to complain about is the lesson in life. I used to be a people pleaser but now i just keep moving and try to keep my thinking positive.

Dogged, I hadn’t thought of it but can you imagine seeing β€œwar games” in your vicinity and wondering what is going on.

Harriet, what area of the world are you in? We have some beaches where pets are allowed but someone always tries to change it. (See above to kitty lol)

Helia, it’s funny that your husband being an extrovert forces you to socialize, my husband is an introvert which forces me to socialize as the silence gets so awkward.

Hi Peaches. Hi LAnn.

I actually have tadas on a Sunday. :P
Note for any history lovers that get the pbs channel or app, a new Ken Burns series on the American Revolution starts tonight.

Bible
Weigh
Pet chores + wash water bowls and can food bowl
Brush Beau
Walk Beau, play ball
Dh got breakfast, made a better than usual choice (scrambled eggs, sausage, and a bad choice of a hashbrown)
Grocery pu
Stopped at sonic and got a Sprite Zero with cranberry, not bad, a little tart
Unloaded and put away groceries
Filled pet food bin
Topped off litter box that needed it
Swept laundry room floor
Spot cleaned floors and rug
Dh caught a possum and is carrying him off now to release in a wooded area
Catching up on shows we dvr’d during the week
Noticed a hole in my suv side window yesterday so scheduled that to be replaced. I think it might have been a ball but I don’t remember playing with Beau near the vehicles, dh thinks he found a rock that came from the sky in the vehicle. Who knows? All I know is it’s very pricey to replace a piece of glass that is the size of a shoe box lid.

It's a luxury that I have waited my whole life for, Kittykatt. I highly recommend retirement, LOL.
Your lunch looks delicious. I meant to tell you: I got my hands on a savoy cabbage yesterday. Looking forward to getting my choppers into that.

I can easily imagine it, Bama, LOL. I live in the capital city. We have an armed forces base here, and we have had training maneuvers going on this weekend. They announced it on the radio so that we would know what's going on, and stressed that the vehicles are not carrying loaded weapons. We also have a firing range out past the urban part of the city, and my very favourite: Energy Mines and Resources has a sort of bunker half buried in the green belt where scientists conduct experiments that might blow up. I've never seen anything blow up there, but my old boyfriend was working in his lab when someone did an experiment in the next building when it should have been done in the bunker. It blew out the side of the building, right at his lab. He said that you could tell at once which side of the building people worked in. The people facing the other lab were shivering outside in the snow without their coats and boots. The people on the other side had no idea what was going on, so they had taken the time to put on their coats and grab their purses etc.

Bama, my friends tend to be great talkers, as they need a listener and I can't keep the conversation going by myself, LOL.

Sunday
Cleaned up after dog X 3
Cut down potato bag for recycling
Changed out kitchen garbage
Started big garbage bag to bring down
Updated goals
Swapped out kitchen cloths
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed dishes
Put more dishes in to soak
