Re: Siamese Saturday
Oh, how adorable, L.Ann. I would definitely pay to have my picture taken with that cow.
You have gotten lots done. WTG!
Saturday
Checked the slow cooker
Made a breakfast plate for Germane, including pork and carrot from the slow cooker
Cleaned up after Germane
Put away dry dishes
Researched fancy soup mixes for hostess gifts/Christmas gifts
Treats for Germane, who woke up
Found temporary homes for remaining dry dishes that can’t be put away until drying rack is taken down
Changed out kitchen cloths
Set up a milk jug
Rearranged fridge door to stop milk from falling out
Scrubbed out sink and basin
Washed some dishes
Loaded the big cutlery holder for dw
Got weirdly invested in cleaning the dw: washed the filters, borrowed the turkey basin from the air conditioner and syphoned the tank, wiped out the inside
Loaded dw to run tonight
Washed more dishes
Put my feet up for 20 minutes
Spiffed self
Bagged garbage and sent it down the chute
Walked dog
Played db’s game
Checked drying laundry. Put away dry, rearranged the rest.
Swept
Washed floor
Checked dishes. Put away dry.
Washed the soaking cookie sheet.
Cleaned up after dog
Rewarded her with a bite of pork and slice of carrot
Said dog expressed her delight by throwing the rejected dog food chunks on the clean floor
Changed dog’s water

Re: Siamese Saturday
I wouldn't consider myself good at crafts. I suppose I could sell the blanket I'm making but I might only have one or 2 in the year. Lol. I bought a quilted table runner one year. And my solid little step stool bench. There's wood work. Metal work. Christmas crafts and decor. Art. Jewelry pottery. Sewing. Jam soap the list can go on. If I had found the right things maybe some art for the wall I had thought...
Anyway I guess I did that all. Except I don't think I can have the chair. Ds likes that corner... oh well. My coleus got a huge haircut... they love that window. Tossed the tomato and repotted my poor sad African violet. I think I must have overwatered it. Lost too many leaves.
Then dad called.. I missed him this morning and just waited to see if he would try again. He did. Needed a few things from the store and it gave an excuse to get the other store for ds to get some ingredients. Took them out there. Home and ds is attempting baked beans and whole chicken in the oven. Probably almost just need salad with that?
I did tackle my entry too. Ds and I both ended up with a couple more pairs of shoes/ boots and the odds and ends that came home from dad's and stayed. Looking better.
Then otd for a scary walk it's icy out there.
Figure something for side dish. More music and crochet. Good enough.
Priority list
Craft fair
Basic routines
Kitchen clean
Laundry away
Tidy entry
Fix some plants and get rid of the tomato plant
Casper walk while it's day sunny
Fix piano corner
Move chair and see
Music prep and practice
Today's tada list
Grocery store and delivery
Break for a bit
Ds cooking
Pull shoe shelf out of closet works better
Declutter entry
Casper walk
Find something for lunch
Find Music and practice a bit
Straighten Music corner and move chair
Deal with ginormous coleus explosion
Shower
Work on crochet some
Tidy kitchen all the way
Sweep everywhere
Switch laundry
Mop a couple spots in bedrooms
Craft fair
Say hi to ds and ddil and dgs
Grocery store for a few things

Oh, I don't envy you having to walk on ice, Lauralind. I'm lucky with Germane that she doesn't need to go outside in weather like that.
Supper sounds good!

I have brownies in the oven. Once they are out of the oven cooling, I can think about going to bed.

Re: Siamese Saturday
We've never cooked raw dried beans before doggedly. Ds found a faster way to soak them but we had a few and they are in the slow cooker now for a few hours. They were still very firm.
Casper could have put up without a walk.. I didn't realize how icy it is.
Oooh brownies.. yummy. Ds made some really good ones a while ago. Need extra chocolate ingredients for that recipe.

Re: Siamese Saturday
Oh - is it your birthday, Gma? Happy Birthday!! WTG on all the baking. Your house must smell wonderful!
L Ann, that is the cutest cow I've ever seen!! Maybe next year's will be named Cappuccino!
Yes, going to the gym was my donwanna, Doggedly. What gave it away - the fact that I did it so late in the day?
I love that term - procrastaccomplishments. Ha ha! I do those a lot. Mmmm.... brownies.
Lauralind, stay safe on the ice.
Oh, sure, I can post a pic, Kitty. I spent some time knitting this evening, and only have 1 row left - plus casting off.
I'm heading to bed. I was planning to get up to walk while dh runs tomorrow morning, but that would mean 7 hours of sleep since it's so late.
We had an impromptu family call tonight to figure out dates for Sinter Klaas and a family trip to WA after Christmas. We have a plan, but nothing is figured out for sure yet.
Tomorrow will be another full day with church, a long walk (I hope), 2:30 zoom with dh's sister + dbil, Dutch but living in Germany. They're thinking of sending their dd15 (or 16?) + a friend to stay with us for 4 months next fall. The girls want an English speaking school experience. There are lots of options with lots of programs here, including the International Baccalaureate program in 2 schools. We'll know more tomorrow. Then, we're hosting Sunday dinner for 7, I think -- although, the new wing of the hospital is opening tomorrow and R has to be there, so maybe he won't be able to come for dinner. And of course - some payroll. And Memorial thank yous. And continuing to wash and bag my mom's stuff; the guest room where I stashed it all needs to be guest ready by Wednesday.

Re: Siamese Saturday
How did I miss Gma? Happy birthday, Gma.
These brownies are very simple, Lauralind. The one extra wrinkle is that I put in half a cup of instant coffee crystals to make it mocha. They have a nice mocha flavour, and every so often you get a burst of bitter coffee taste that makes a nice balance to the sweet. I hope that your beans turn out, and in time for supper.
It was the fact that you put off dressing until 4:00 pm helia--can't go to the gym if I'm still in my PJs!
Isn't is amazing what you got done while avoiding that?
Have a good sleep. This is my last post tonight too.

Re: Siamese Saturday
lauralind, uncooked beans and crock pots don't mix well! If you used the red kidney beans, you better throw it all out to avoid food poisoning!Lauralind wrote: Sat Nov 22, 2025 11:44 pm We've never cooked raw dried beans before doggedly.
