waving at all of you! home from a lovely thanksgiving time. D mom was wonderful! Awake the whole day! chatted, listened, ate a lot, and enjoyed listening to everyone talking. She asked if she could walk around and talk to people. (so cute - she has been in a wheelchair for a while). She said she had a "wonderful" time. She understood everything! dd's got her in the car and the boys took her up the stairs. I was shocked that she could eat on her own the entire time. She has always been a social being.

Oh, blessed, I am so glad your mom had a good day! I'm sure that was a weight off your mind and one of the things your family is most thankful for!

Harriet, we haven't watched the parade yet, but I found out tonight that dniece & dnephew and exsisil were THERE! They posted on FB. I know that must have been a big thrill. Also -- my college alma mater band was marching in the parade, so I hope DGD will want to watch it tomorrow. (I still would say the Rose Bowl parade is my favorite, however. It just amazes me what they do with all those live flowers and plants.)
She would NOT watch Mary Poppins tonight for me. She said it wasn't a kid's movie. I said, "Yes it is! It is exactly a kid's movie!" She said, "Yeah, for kids that were born in like, the 1950s." I still enjoyed it.

So glad to hear y'all had good days with family.
My day was... okay.
They kinda ate and ran -- DS and ddil were eager to get on the road to College Town. Her parents and brother left when they did, but I think everyone enjoyed the day. DGD and I did take dmom a plate, and went to dgd's house to get her some clothes. They brought a dress for Sunday, but she has nothing but shorts here at my house (and was wearing shorts today) but I told her I was NOT going to take her out Saturday night wearing shorts!
Everyone who had been sick was feeling better, but DGD has had a rough night -- said her stomach hurt and her head hurt and she missed her mommy and daddy. She talked to them on the phone, and texted them later on. She finally fell asleep. She wanted me to come to bed with her, so I left the dishes in the sink and came on to bed. After she fell asleep, I took my shower so * maybe * we can get started tomorrow when she wakes me up. We did get the tree out and it is now standing in the den, no lights or anything on it. We have no plans for tomorrow except I think I will go to Dollar General and get some more stomach meds for her, and probably go to her house to get the Zofran that dissolves under the tongue -- she refused to try the small pills I have. We did try peppermint essential oil (a roll on) which a friend at church HIGHLY recommends. I don't know if it ever helped her or not.

I know I was bewailing my lot in life last night -- the weird way I have been compulsively buying organization helps (?) -- but as I look at my planner and my calendar, I know that November has been difficult for me. I haven't filled out my planner like I normally do, and I haven't kept up with my daily check list, and I haven't exercised like I need to. Maybe I do need some kind of spark to get me going again.
There is sooo much I need to FOCUS on for monthly projects.
I have not yet finished painting/staining the outdoor furniture...
never put together the NokBox...
need to organize photos and scrapbook stuff...
need to get back into zone work and clear out some closets...
I just keep spinning my wheels, so maybe SOMETHING that I have purchased will be the key to getting me started.
* I'm not trying to tackle all this before Christmas, LOL! I'm just thinking ahead to how I need to start 2026.

I did enjoy reading everyone's Thanksgiving accounts. We don't have anything like that here, except perhaps Harvest supper, but that's more a community type thing. But it's still a wonderful time to take stock amd count blessings. Does anyone mind if I do that here? (It's been a difficult week for the UK with the latest government budget that has been summed up by many newspapers as a "Benefits Street" budget - taking from people who work hard, and giving to people who refuse to work and sit around on their behinds all day. That's a gross oversimplification, of course, but you get the drift!)

So, here goes:
I'm thankful for DH who works so hard to support us all
I'm thankful for my wonderful (most of the time!) kitties
I'm thankful that everyone is in reasonable health
I'm thankful for our little home and my garden which is my "safe space".
I'm thankful for my church family and friends
I'm thankful for this lovely safe space here, where I've met new friends

Lucy Lee, I've been working on photos for the past year. I've put them in a box and just spend 30 minutes a time sorting through, discarding the ones I don't want and organising the rest. It's a long, slow project, but good for those dark winter nights. Also, if I find something I really "must have" online, then I put it in my basket but then wait at least 24 hours (sometimes more!) before purchasing. The vast majority of the time I've either forgotten about whatever it was, or don't want it any more!
