My Corner of the World Saturday PWYC

Post by Twins' Mom »

“This is my corner of the world; I am free to do what I want”
This came up as the header of the Weekend Substack email. Take the day, and do as you want - is it Fun? Decorating? Cooking? What about responsibilities? Tasks? Housecleaning? I couldn't find the context of the header, is it just the weekend admonition, "enjoy yourself"?

Discuss.

Discuss. :)
"What about responsibilities?""
That thing that lucylee posted in a descending line yesterday evening (and I realize she was pointing at it, not wrapping it 'round her) was what my spiral notebooks used to look like before I walked into that library and found the P and P books. Peggy and Pam gave me the best explanation I'd ever heard of why I kept looking at pages that made my tummy queasy. So my discussion would be something like "Divide and conquer".

Divide the long descending order and then you get efficient and can do as you want with fun, decorating, cooking what you like, housekeeping in dollhouses like KittyKatt's, take the day, Carpe Diem, such as that. Part of it will be because you can find efficiency by finding small successes to add up into big ones, and part will be because you impishly escape, but that's okay, too.

Now my spiral notebooks have written-around-the-edges creative and improv ideas all mixed up with some to-dos, sermon notes, and the only lists are steps toward getting UFO projects finished, that sort of thing. And I have a remarkable, generous stockpile of UFOs - they're just fascinating, I like them all, so periodically I list them and admire that list. Responsibilities nestle snugly into the cardfile.

Thank you for starting us today Twins' Mom!

A little bit of housework, a little bit of fun (stitching and/or reading) and supper is already planned.

Dishwasher is empty and waiting to be refilled. The is a load being unwrinkled in the dryer. I might go to a stitching group today just to get out of the house.

Here in my corner, I was taken by a cold or virus or something yesterday afternoon. Nasal passages draining, sneezing, coughing, miserable. Overnight, the drainage stopped enough for me to sleep - but now that I'm moving I'm sneezing and draining again. We're supposed to see the Broadway show "Clue" here this afternoon but I shouldn't go to a crowded auditorium of people today. We ended up not going out to eat last night. Dh suggested he go to Walmart near here and get hamburger patties to make, but he came home with Italian sausages with peppers/onion for himself and I told him not to make hamburgers just for me.

I've walked the dog and emptied the dishwasher.

Not much going on here

I have a Turkey breast cooking in my slow cooker for dinner tonight

Walked my little friend at sunrise. Bought he a sweater because she’s been clipped short and it’s 45* in the early morning… you know I’m loving that

Sweetie is still sick and I’m not feeling much better. I suspect I have a sinus infection now. I’m really tired of this.

House is ok. Lucylee don’t look, but I too just bought a new planner called the ADHD cleaning planner. Love it because it incorporates both the Sisters and Fly Lady with easy to do and follow check list. Covers weekly, monthly and quarterly lists for all rooms in your home as well as daily chores and fast cleaning ideas.

It’s not a monthly planner but rather lists of what needs to be done and when. Down side is you either need to put the lists in plastic sleeve and us a dry mark to check off so you can use it over and over again or just make copies of the pages on your printer.

I really like it cause it keeps me focused, but can’t do much since I’m not feeling up to it.

Rachael Warren on Tic Tok preview the planner for you and she’s also on instagram

(((Twins)))) I hope you feel better soon.

I went to bed not knowing what I would do today. Take another down day, return to normal doings or go on an adventure?
I woke up knowing what I wanted to do.
No way did I want to have two slow days with low energy in a row. I decided to choose normal doings AND a small adventure.

Breakfast cupcakes and a pot of my favorite soup have been made this morning. DH and the teens had biscuits for breakfast. I have some meat thawing to fix something else for them later. Also a pizza crust is rising so that will either be a apple dessert pizza or a pepperoni/cheese pizza. I'll let them vote which one it will be.
Stay curious. Challenge assumptions. Success loves persistence.

Good afternoon! We are heading to my DB’s this afternoon for dinner with him and his girlfriend. DC is still sulking upstairs since they found out their girlfriend is not going to be able to make it. I need to rouse them for a third time — we need to go in about an hour. The more I think about it, the less I am pleased with the bottle of wine I got for them. Before Christmas, I need to go to a proper wine shop with people to help you. just got overwhelmed at the liquor store, and the only people working were behind the counter dealing with a line of customers.

I have been slow moving this morning. I did not hit the day running like I’d hoped to.

I hope you are feeling better soon, Twins, so you can enjoy yourself. At the very least, it will be a break from the social whirl. Get cozy with whatever warm beverage you prefer!

I like your attitude towards your UFOs, Harriet! Rather than a spiral notebook, I am keeping my brain dump list on a mini legal pad and revising/refreshing it periodically. That and my new cards seem to be doing well around here.

Sounds like a nice, relaxing day, Cathy.

Sorry you had problems with your sugar, Nancy. I hope your tweaks to your log help you avoid that.

I’m going to have to check out that planner, Rose.

What’s your small adventure, LadyM?

DC is dressed, and we will be going soon. Have a great day, everybody!

good afternoon - It has been the most restful comforting day that I have had in a long time! special! peaceful!!!

we are having snow - and its beautiful!!! They are saying we may get 6 - 10 inches of snow - I hope so!

at lunch we had new olive oil for dipping with parmesan and a bit of salt. (tuscan bread) very good - along with fruit on the side.

dd older made her cookies which we indulged in - with our coffee with milk. . (d helper, I think, enjoyed herself as well).
helper came and dd older got mom up - she is happy and she loved the morning-
dd younger took the dogs out to play in the snow!
mom wanted to watch Rudolph the red nose reindeer - she sang Il est né, le divin Enfant she sang to this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lq4G43c ... rt_radio=1

yesterday was the girls day out - lots of fun - we ended with Mexican food-i had three sips of a very good margarita (I can't drink much so it was a perfect amount). . 14 women and one 10 year old niece came. (only 3 didn't make it during the day - one didn't make it at night) Lots of fun!!!

d mom is sleeping again -she didn't want to go to take a nap bc she didn't want to miss anything. helper went home as soon as she and I laid her down. hopefully the helper won't have a problem with the snow.

hope you are having a wonderful day!
it is always a joy to be here with you!

Rose — is yours the one with mostly black and white drawings on the cover? I already have that one! I’ve been afraid to mark in it!
I told you, I’m obsessed… and I get these things sncc do look at them and then… I sit on the couch. \o/

I have a reason for sitting today though. I think I’ve pulled a muscle in my lower leg. Is that what they call a Charley horse? I strained it last night leaning over the bed, helping Dgd with something. I felt a burning pain immediately and I’ve been walking like Chester ever since.

A little excitement for Dgd and me. I was in the bathroom and she was in the kitchen. Suddenly, from the den, there arose such a clatter that we both sprang from our seats to see what was the matter!
A very large picture had fallen from above the piano, taking with it candle sticks, little silhouette pictures, the piano light. It’s a large canvas painting and it fell onto a hardwood floor, so you can imagine the noise! Dgd said, “I thought the whole roof was falling in!”
I’m glad this didn’t wake me in the middle of the night!
Tomorrow is another day.
