good morning d twins and all!
We still have snow falling - truly beautiful - the snow plow that we hire just drove by our house last night bc we had cars in the driveway -I will have to ask them to text me when they are coming - we are supposed to get 8 to 12 inches, of snow, in total.

Re: "Time you Enjoy" Sunday PWYC
Good morning! Yes, I’m here early. For whatever reason, although I slept later than I often do on a Sunday, I’m ready for church, and we don’t have to leave for another 20 minutes.
We’ve got a couple of things on the agenda today. This afternoon, we’re going after a Christmas tree. Earlier than we usually do, but I like having a white pine, and they’re getting harder and harder to find. We finally found a tree place that carries them last year, but they were sold out. So this year, we’re going early. Then, this evening, we’ve been invited to dfriends P & K for dinner and carols. Should be fun.
Hopefully, I’ll get back here later, but let me wish you a good day now!

Re: "Time you Enjoy" Sunday PWYC
That’s a very good point, Twins.
I guess especially in my “new” situation as a widow (and it does still seem new, even after almost 20 months) but now — I guess my new task should be finding things I enjoy.
BTW — were y’all happy or sad about the Vandy/TN game?
It sure is hard to be an Auburn fan these days, but the sun came up again — I guess — it’s a very damp, rainy morning here, but I know the sun is out there somewhere!
Good morning to all in our little village!
BTW — a question for y’all to consider —
I got a baby shower invitation the other day. Lists 3 places mom is registered. ALSO — a little card asking for a pkg of diapers “to be entered in a drawing for a door prize”AND a card asking for “a book instead of a card.”
Honestly… I think a book and a box of diapers is quite sufficient but I guess I am supposed to select something from the registry too.
I’ve known the mom’s family my entire life, went to church with them, graduated with her mom. But this seems a little overkill, IMHO.

Hi!
LucyLee you could always send your regrets and a nice card.
We did have snow overnight but the patio was clear at 5 a.m. when I looked out. Now we are having wind and rain and the snow that was on the grass is now gone.
Dh and I planned our day. Because it is raining, we will do the decorating either Tuesday or Wednesday. Dh wants chili dogs for supper "because we have hot dogs in the fridge, a can of chili in the pantry and buns in the freezer". I will heat up a can of brown beans as well. Then we declared it a P. J. day with "reading, stitching, football and naps" before I even got here!
So dh and I will both be enjoying our day in our cozy house.

Wow, bw2! How wonderful to be able to hunker down with the family and enjoy the snowfall. I bet it's beautiful! I'm envious!
Dh has gone for a massage on this rainy dreary Sunday morning. I'm upstairs enjoying wasting time.
Whoops, he already back home and is testy about spending time alone. Should I go back downstairs????

Overkill, lucylee. So is my response, lol. A childhood book is a lovely gift all by itself, comparable to a toy or an outfit. Assuming guests are spending money on greeting cards doesn't make sense to me. Greeting cards are pricey and require shopping time like anything else, so IMO most folks who buy them are thinking of them as a way to send a flat gift if they can't attend. You'd have to go to a lot more trouble to send a book. If someone is attending, they already have lots of alternatives to cards for even flat gifts like money or gift card. And the biggest issue - Who gets to keep the door prize that guests have to earn through additional expense? Hmmm ... .. Never saw an item leave a baby shower except with the honored mom/couple - one is traditionally expected to give up their "winnings" from the party activities. I have a dcousin who NEVER gives any gifts EXCEPT diapers, and is used to a round of applause every time one of her gifts is opened. It's a thing.
The rest of my day will be spent on the finish of cards. HRH says we will drop them in the mail while we are out to doctor(s) tomorrow.
Also getting ready for a day away from home. Hope, hope, hope we can get home before dark, but of course doctor may have to require me to stay more hours.
Looking ahead at the week, HRH has an appt Tuesday and then it's me again Thursday.
Trying to order gift-wrap tape (scotch) has fallen through again. The stuff must be being rationed or something.
But next up in preparations would be getting the presents here, anyway.
Ds says a present for ddil will also come to us to hide.

Lucylee, yes, find the things you enjoy. Although your life is full right now with the grands and your dmom too. You have a lot to occupy your time. And it's fine to show up for the shower with a gift from where ever you want of course, and feel no obligation to purchase additional items. Or send a gift and regrets.
I really need to wrap up this DAR application and start on some other research areas. I think I'm a little burned out on this family. Had hoped that I'd be able to prove George's father - a Rev. war vet - as a new ancestor for the DAR, but don't think I'm going to get there. What I need to do is finish the applications for two other lines that go through George and be done with him and his infuriating father for awhile.
